“Let’s go, Amara. We need to get out of here.” All of a sudden a siren starts to go off. A hidden door in the wall flies open and we see a lot of guards with swords and weapons ready to kill us. We run through the door we are now standing by and run quickly down the hallway. Andrew is holding onto my hand and dragging me because he can run way faster than me. We make sharp turns around the corners and I bang into the walls sometimes when I lose my balance. We finally reach the door to the dungeon hallway and burst through it.
We continue running down the hallway. We are running so fast we make it to the stairs in under 30 seconds when usually it takes a few minutes to walk down the hallway. We rush up the stairs but before we can make it to the door at the top, more guards come rushing down at us. We stop and turn back around to try and run from them but we are surrounded by guards now. They inch closer while me and Andrew get closer together trying to make us as small as possible.
“There is nowhere else for you to go now.” One of the guards says. The one closest to us grabs us both and starts walking us back down the stairs and back to our cell. We both try to break free but he is holding us very tightly. He throws us back into our cell and shuts the door. All the guards walk away and the Queen of the Demetria Manor appears from the middle of the group of large men.
“Whatever just happened with you two, might have just cost you your lives and your families lives.” She then walks away and follows the men out of the dungeon and up the stairs to the castle.
Andrew bangs on the bars trying to get her to come back. “It’s useless. She isn’t coming back.” I yell to him while sitting on the hard concrete ground. He turns back around and dangles his arms to his side. I haven’t been able to give his face a very good look yet, so for a second I study his features.
His hair is very dark, almost black but isn’t. He has ocean blue eyes that seem to jump out at me. His jawline is sharp, like it would cut me if I tried to touch it. He has pink lips and rosy cheeks, like he has blush on. I never thought I would say this but he is very handsome.
His back leans against the wall and he is tucked into a ball. He is picking at his fingernails and starts to bite them. “Biting your nails is a bad habit,” I say. He looks up at me startled and rolls his eyes at me.
“Stop staring at me.” He replies still picking his nails.
“I wasn’t.” I lied. I continue to look at him while he shoves his fingers into his mouth.
“You are staring at me right now.” He says not even looking up at me. I quickly turn my body around before he really sees me looking at him. I hear him stand up and start walking over to me. He stops at the edge of my body. I can feel his eyes bore into the back of my head. Before I get the chance to look up at him, he sits down right next to me. He sits down beside me right where I was sitting before and relaxes his head on the concrete wall behind him.
“You are out of your favorite spot” I lightly punched him in the stomach holding back a smile.
“Now I am next to you.” He said, rolling his eyes and then closing them.
I now try hard to not blush at his statement. I relax my back on the wall. He turns to face me. “I just realized something.” He said with a smile.
“What did you realize?” I ask him sarcastically.
He hesitated before saying anything. He just sat there with his mouth open about to say something but didn't for a few minutes. Then finally he says, “I love you, princess.”
I couldn’t think of anything else to say to that so I blurted out, “I love you too, prince.”
The last thing I remember was closing my eyes and falling asleep with my head on his chest. When I woke up, he was gone and my head was on the concrete floor. I sit up and look around immediately worried. “Andrew?” I called. He doesn’t answer and I get stressed.
Then before I have a chance to break down in a panic attack, I hear a beep and the gate starts to open. I look and see Andrew standing outside, smiling. “Let's go.” He waves me over.
I start running towards him but before I get a chance to even exit the cell, his face drops and starts to shove me back in, he presses the button and jumps in with me. “Why would you do that?” I feel rage building up inside of me. He presses his finger to his lips to signal for me to be quiet. Footsteps start to get louder and louder. I move Andrew out of the way and peak my head outside to see who is coming. When the Queen’s face becomes clear, my heart sinks.
I take a step back and look at Andrew who gives me a little nod as if to say “I told you so.” She gets closer to us and she soon is face to face with both of us.
“I have an announcement for the both of you.” Shey says resting her hands on the bars of our cell. This could mean a lot of things but I am going to assume the worst. Neither me or Andrew say a word waiting for her to rip off the bandaid and just say it already. “I have declared war on the Aviva and Theros Manor officially. My troops are attacking later today.”
