The "Fake" Power

Valda Combs, a  young teen girl in a city of those who have special powers making them known as ‘Penny’s’ strange name right but it’s because when powers first showed up they were considered useless and gross. As they evolved to be what the world adores, many people are born without and grow without these powers. When you are born if you are a Penny you have a very light color show up on your skin in any shape size and location. Each is unique and has a soft glow to them. Valda who is just a regular person was named by her parents, her name spirited warrior. She thought she was good enough to fake having powers when younger and thought nothing of it. Making people fear her because she learned she could get body mods and make it seem like it was her power. Little did she know that she would wake up as a teen one day and be a Penny. 

Valda come downstairs please, someone is here and I need to speak to you. When Valda got downstairs she saw this kid who she had just threatened the day before. His parents were horrified to see her standing there with no emotions. Little did anyone know that Valda’s family was neglectful towards her behind closed doors. What do you want you old hag? Don't talk to me like that. Valda had just been slapped by her mother right in front of the boy’s family. H-How bout you kids go to Valda’s room while we talk. The boy grabbed Valda’s hand and lead her upstairs looking for her room. The boy now known as Spike Lambert was scared about Valda he could see the blood on her face from her mother using her power without knowing. After finding her room he had finally moved her hair so he could see the damage of her wound, only to find this black substance on her cheek and it was steaming and having blood mixed with black dripping down her face. He freaked at first but then used his power to look for any other wounds before using his power to heal. He noticed small cuts on her arms, ribcage, and legs. He used his power to heal everything and wiped the black substance, he then said he knew that her “power” was just a body mod. They became good friends and Valda protected Spike and Spike would heal her when needed. 

A few years later 

One day Valda ran from the east side of the city to the west just to get to Spikes house, when his mother answered the door she looked confused till she saw how she was barely holding herself up and was weak, she gently picked her up bridal style and lied her on the couch. Spike came down the stairs and saw her and ran to heal her, when he saw her arm he stopped and analyzed it and saw that the body mod was ripped out of her arm and caused a lot of damage to her arm. He couldn’t heal this without taking multiple sessions. His mother asked why she was like that he then went on to explain that it was most likely her fighting her family because they didn’t was her in the house. He then said she didn’t have power and got these body mods to pose as her power. A few weeks later Valda had woken up and walked into the guest bathroom and she saw Penny marks on her face and outlining her body mods location. She screamed and ran down the stairs, she explained what she saw and Spike came up to her and lightly traced the marks on her face. She became flustered quickly and he said that his parents were getting the court day set to get her family punished. They sit on the couch and started to research why she woke up with the marks later in her life, the only thing that they could find that was reasonable was that it took time to develop. When Spike’s parents got home they didn’t recognize Valda. They headed to the hospital to have a doctor’s opinion, he had a blood test from when she was just a toddler it didn’t show the one type of blood cell that all pennies have. In the new blood test, there were a lot of penny blood cells in the new blood test. That’s very interesting, I’ve never seen anything like this. He pulled out the tests of Valda’s and Spike’s to show the difference between them. Wow, that is more than double. We should test what your power is. After a few hours after the test, the results came back. Your power is very unique it’s type is Psychic. Psychic Torture: You have the ability to get into your enemy's head and psychically torture them until their mind is in a dark, hallucinatory state. Whether by mind games or telepathic control, your enemy will soon be begging you to stop. That is kinda gruesome, how would I control it, also why do I have so many penny marks? I believe that the cause of your power coming so late along with your marks would be the effect of your power. Why would it outline my body mods then? That I do not know, unfortunately. Okay, that was kinda useful, but how am I supposed to hide my marks at the trials with the glow makeup won’t work. We can try tonight, Spike had whispered so his parents couldn’t hear him. Later that night Spike came into the guest room with a bag of makeup, Valda was confused till she saw his face, he had his penny marks around his wrist, but now she was seeing that he had a medic cross mark on his forehead. Wait you have been covering that up all these years. Yes, I don’t like how it looks. It looks great you dummy. Because it was dark Valda couldn’t see his blush. Wait you have makeup strong enough to cover penny markings. Yes now don’t wake my parents, you dummy. They worked all night finding her shade of skin, having tanner skin makes it kinda hard to match the skin tone. On the day of the Trial she had covered her marks even the ones under her bandages, they might want to see the damage of the wound. She will have to wear a bandage for a few more months because Spike can’t heal it anymore from this point. During the trial she felt a strange aura, that was strangely familiar, in the room, she asked Spike if he could feel it too. He answered and said yes along with his parents. When they started, Valda’s family was loud and angry that this was happening. When the judge asked her to come forward and state her claim she said that her family had abused, and neglected her during her time at home. She was suicidal and did self-harm for years. She also stated the way she treated classmates was wrong and didn’t know better. If she hadn’t met Spike Lambert she could have been killed by her own family just for not being a penny. When her mother was called on she said the girl was lying and ran away and caused problems at home and ripped her body mod out of her body herself. Spike was enraged and spoke out of his turn, BULLSHIT! THE DAMAGE DONE SHE WOULD NEVER DO TO HERSELF. I WAS THERE WHEN YOU FUCKING USED YOUR POWER ON HER! That is enough Spike Lambert, We shall take a 5 min break. While on the break Valda’s sister approached them. Don’t get near her. Spike calm down, she wouldn’t attack me in public. What do you want? I came to say sorry, I didn’t have a say in attacking you, I was controlled by a strange force. I’m not the only one. Wait, did you feel the strange aura in there. Y-Yes, wait don’t tell me there’s someone using their power in there. The three of them ran into the room feeling it again. That’s when Valda realized there is a power suppressor in the room. She started laughing, I’ve been on a power suppressor all these years, once I left they slowly wore off. Spike then realized that this could be used. We need to rush to your old home and look for any proof of this. Once they ran into the house they tore the place apart looking for anything. Valda’s sister had found an empty prescription bottle that has a power suppressor on it. FOUND IT! They saw Valda’s name on it and was it was a high dosage. Let’s hurry back we are late already. Once they entered Valda’s sister fainted instantly. YOU BRAT I TOLD YOU NOT TO GO NEAR HER! YOU HAD ME ON A FUCKING POWER SUPPRESSOR SINCE I WAS BORN, WHY? YOU DON’T HAVE PROOF. Valda threw the empty pill bottle to the judge. There’s my proof. My sister brought it with her she found it in the house. This dosage is illegal and has been for decades. Valda’s family was sentenced to jail but Valda wanted to show her power and asked to have the power suppressors turned off so she could find out who had been controlled while during the attack. She used her gift on her mother to get the answer out of her she didn’t know. This horrified everyone she turned to her dad seeing him smile. Y-you did this all of it you controlled her and my siblings since they were born. That’s when she saw everyone in the room go under his control, Spike was the only other one not affected. This was a new problem, this was the start of the power war.
