“Elena! Why are you being so closed-minded?”I say chasing down the hallway after my big sister; she suddenly stops thanks to my fast reflex I stop at the right moment so I won’t bump with her. Her eyes are so intense to the point where I can’t keep eye contact with her more than two seconds, and she knows this she knows that she has power over me that's why she thinks she can change me.

“Closes minded?” she asks scoffing “I am your big sister, and I know what’s right for you! This has nothing to do with me being open-minded or not; you’re just confused that’s all” she says and starts walking again “stop saying I am confused! I’ve never been more sure of something in my life than I am with this decision with those emotions that I am feeling” I say blocking her way “Since when do you like girls?” she asks raising her eyebrows “I’ve known you since you were a baby and for all your life you’ve only been with boys!” she says “You’ve had four boyfriends for goodness sake!” she adds to emphasize her point “Exactly! And none of them ever...” I say pointing a finger toward her trying my best to hold her eye contact “Ever made feel the way she does!” but Elena just looks at me for the last time and leaves, leaving me alone with my trembling lips, and shaky hands.

The rest of the day passes slowly and empty; my thoughts kept me company until Chloe came. “Hey little sis!” she says hugging me “Chloe! Finally!” I hug her back “Sorry! It took me a while to escape my douche-bag of a boss, but at least I made it” she says sitting at the end of my bed “What happened? You look down?” she asks looking at me intently; what’s wrong with my sisters and their intense looks? I ask myself zoning out that’s until she snaps her fingers right in front of my face “What the hell?” I say giggling “You were leaving earth so I had to bring you back,” she says shrugging her shoulders “Anyways, you’re going to tell me or?” she says raising her left eyebrow. “Elena knows” I simply say remembering the conversation we had this morning “And she did not take it very well, did she?” Chloe asks knowing the answer “And she will never get it, I cannot just change myself just to please her Chloe, yet at the same time, I do not have any other plan! Why can’t she be as accepting as you were?” I say motioning toward her and I take a deep breath “Hey!” she says gently climbing next to me and gives me a tight hug, and there where I just can’t keep it together I just start crying hugging her tightly.

 “Elena can be intense sometimes…” she says playing with my hair “Sometimes?” I say looking up to her “Ok well always…” she says giggling “But it’s a news she didn’t see coming, and since you are the youngest between us she can be very protective of you especially after…” she pauses taking a deep breath, I just squeeze her hand “Since our mother left” she says “I understand that, but being me is not something “dangerous” or something that she should protect me of; she should be happy that I am finally finding myself and finding someone who actually cares as much as you guys do” I say lifting my head of her shoulder and sit facing her “I know, and I am so happy to hear that, yet Elena being the big sister she just has been through a lot of…” she pauses looking for the right word “Pressure?” she says “I don’t know Chloe! I just…” I pause groaning “Why do I have to pay for that?” I say leaning back to her shoulders holding the tears that are daring to come out again “Ok, what about I try to talk to her?” Chloe suggests after a moment of silence “Really? You would do that?” I ask looking at her “Of course!” she says, I squeal hugging her tightly “Thank you Chlochlo! I appreciate it” I say she just chuckles “Back with that nickname! Really?” she says teasingly I just shrug smiling hopefully for what may come next.

After Chloe and I had dinner we just decided to chill and watch marathons of our favourite TV Shows, the day went in a blur. After one hour of just messing around and not actually paying attention to what’s going in the show we were watching, Elena came back home.

“Good afternoon girls” Elena greets us and begins to leave toward her room “Elena, wait!” Chloe says standing up “Can we talk?” Chloe asks, and I can feel my heartbeats in any second it’s going to explode “Listen, Chloe, I am sure whatever you need us to talk about can wait until tomorrow, it’s been a long day and-“Elena says but Chloe cuts her “No it actually can’t, and even if it did I won’t be here tomorrow” Chloe says avoiding eye contact with either of us “What do you mean?” I ask her “Yeah, what do you mean?” Elena says basically repeating what I just asked, but at least she finally acknowledged my presence since she came “This is not our topic for now” Chloe says obviously avoiding our questions “I wanted to talk to you about what happened between you two this morning” Chloe says looking at me then to Elena who’s stare even with the tiredness of the day she still manages to keep it intense.

“Listen I said what I needed to say this morning, period” she says and tries to leave “Elena, for goodness sake stop being stubborn and listen to what we have to say for once" Chloe says, “You’re just going to defend her and of course blame me for being wrong, and it keeps going with no solution at the end” Elena says putting her bag at the couch next to her “Because you are wrong Elena” Chloe says which just makes Elena cross her arms and raise her eyebrows “You can’t just go telling people who to be just because you’re the biggest sister here I understand where you’re coming from, but that’s no justification to your actions” Chloe says “and what are the justifications to her actions huh? What she is doing is not natural okay! She can be whoever she wants but that, people are going to be cruel to her” Elena says and her words hurt more than I thought they would, what does she mean by not natural? Does she know what she’s talking about? “In what era are you leaving sister? We are in modern times people won’t give a shit to whom people like or dislike” Chloe argues “What about her friends, the society, and everyone that would know? She will cause a big scandal” Elena says pushing the hair out of her face aggressively “Oh c’mon is that really what you care about? Your reputation? Did you forget that you also slept with girls back in college days?” Chloe says which causes my jaw to drop; she did? How come I did not know about that “Don’t you dare mention that again? It was a mistake just like what your little sister is doing “Elena says “Stop saying it’s a mistake it’s far from that okay! It’s far from what you experienced with those college girls! I am mature enough to know what’s good and what’s bad for me Elena” I say standing up facing her then I turn toward Chloe and I hug her tightly “Thank you so much! For trying but it’s not worth it anymore, if she’s not getting it I’ll pack my things tomorrow and leave from this house” I say in Chloe’s ear, she steps back looking at me “Come with me” she says taking my hand and we head toward the front door “Where do you think you’re going at this time?” we hear Elena ask “My apartment” Chloe simply answers and keeps taking toward her car.

The car ride was silent just like my tears. We finally arrive at Chloe’s apartment “I’ll go make you some hot chocolate” she says as I go to the living room and lay on the couch, after a few minutes I hear footsteps; she hands me the cup as I sit up. The atmosphere is much calming and relaxing than our supposedly called “Home”. “What did you mean by saying you won’t be here tomorrow?” I finally ask breaking the silence she comes back from the kitchen with another cup, she sits down, takes a sip then says “Well I got fired from my job, so I decided to take a break from everything, so tomorrow I’m leaving to Canada” My eyes widen to the news “What?” I say “Yeah, sorry I didn’t mention it earlier” she says apologetically “I mean I’m happy for you that you’re doing stuff for yourself finally it just I didn’t expect it” I say “I know, it was an out f the blue decision to be honest” she says as she takes another sip from her cup “And while I’m gone you can stay here” she says “What do you mean?” ask putting the cup back at the table “You need a break for yourself as well away from Elena and the house in general, you can bring Vero here like this you’ll have privacy” she says as I think about it “But like try not to have too much fun” she says again bumping my shoulder “I don’t know what to say Chlo” I say honestly “Just say you’ll take care of my apartment while I am gone” she simply says “once again thank you thank you so much!!!” I say hugging her tightly than ever “for understanding me, supporting me, and just being the best sister that you are. I am going to miss you so much” I say “I’ll call you and check on you, and if anything happens just tell me okay!” she says as I nod assuring her “C’mon let me show you your room, and let’s go have some rest,” she says.

Even though Chloe is the middle child I feel like she’s the most mature one, she never failed to be by my side as for Elena I just hope that one day she’ll understand that happiness is not about what the people think, but what you think and what you feel toward yourself.
