It's only 2 hours until my beloved husband arrives. I decided to surprise him tonight by preparing a nice meal to relieve some of the stress he has because of his work. I've been preparing for tonight's dinner for hours now. I want it to be romantic not like everyday's ordinary dinner. I even got some candles and flowers, and I'm quite satisfied with the results. I'm sure he'll love it. He always do. He's so nice, kind, and appreciative of what I do for him even if it's just me giving him a glass of water. He's always there when I need him. Although he's a bit overprotective and strict, I still love him so much and can never imagine my life without him. He's literally one of a kind. Thus, I decided a long time ago when we got married that I'll do my best to keep him happy at all times. Don't get me wrong though, we too, like any other couple, fight. One time we had a big fight that ended up with us not talking for a whole week and that's the longest we've ever been mad at each other. We too have our ups and downs. Nonetheless, we manage to handle our problems logically and with a sense of reason. And you are not gonna believe it, it works everytime! However, for me, the idea that most of the girls have, about expecting men to give without receiving anything in return, is false. In other words, girls should give as much as men and maybe more. For instance, if we're talking about the element of "attention" in a relationship, then she should give him as much attention as he gives her and more. This is also applicable to love itself. A girl should not expect a man to love her endlessly while she's on the other hand pretending or even worse deceiving herself into thinking that she loves him. When we, girls, say we deserve better, there are men on the other hand who deserve better too. Love doesn't work that way. Love is give and take. It's the mutual care & attention between the 2 of you. It's when he's down, you cheer him up and vice versa. It's being considerate and reasonable at all times. It's you giving him a pat on the back because he went and got all the groceries by himself. It is not about getting much and giving little. It's about... oh my husband's here. I must have zoned out for quite some time.
"Hello beautiful, how are you?" He says.
"I'm doing good honey, how was your day?" "Ugh tiring as usual," he adds tiredly laughing. "Well guess what," I say happily looking at him. "What?" He says slightly confused.
"I have a small surprise for you"
"No way! Again babe! If you keep doing that, you'll probably end up broke," he says grinning.
"It's all for my one and only. You deserve better anyway," I say hugging him closely.
"Aw I love you so much," he says squeezing me into the hug.
"I love you more. Now quickly go wash up and come so you can see your surprise," I say.
He went upstairs, took a shower, then went to the kitchen where I was. We then went together into the dining room, and I must say I really know my husband well. He loves it! He even said that it's astonishing and breathtaking. I guess I did a pretty good job with the setup. After devouring the food, we went to cuddle in the living room.
"I have another surprise for you," I said.
He stared at me blankly only uttering a tiny "why?"
"Why what?" I replied laughing. "This one I've been planning on getting it for months though" I added.
"What is it?" He asked so fast anticipating what I'm about to say.
"Well wait here a minute," I said leaving the living room for a second to get him his second surprise.
I returned back holding a box in my hand and placing it on the table in front of him. He quickly began tearing the wrapping, but suddenly stopped when he found out what is it. There, on the table lies his new PS5 with all its glory.
"No, you didn't! No no no no.. wait no. This is too expensive" he said not believing what I got him.
"I've heard you multiple times talk about how you wanted it but you won't get it to save the money for something useful," I said, "so I began to save up a portion of money each month for the past 5 months so I can get it for you. You deserve it!"
"Oh my lord I.. I don't know what to say. I'm literally speechless. Thank you! i really don't deserve you!" He said laughing a bit while wiping the few drops of tears that he shed.
"Sweetheart you deserve all the best. You literally get me everything I want so why can't I do the same?!" I replied kissing his hand.
"My love for you is beyond anyone's comprehension" he sincerely said.
"Me too darling," I replied.
While eating dessert, he noticed our newly framed wedding photo I purposefully hanged in the living room.
"Wait a minute! Isn't that new? Wow babe! It looks absolutely amazing" he says while eating.
"Yeah! It's supposed to be part of the surprise. I'm even surprised that you've noticed it in the first place"
"Sweety how could I not notice it when It's basically taking up half of the wall," he said laughing so hard which made my heart flutter. I really can't believe how after all those years I still manage to feel those butterflies in my stomach whenever he does anything even if it's merely laughing.
After calming down from the fit of laughter we had, we started for a while at the photo. Both of us stared at it smiling and remembering all the great memories we had since we first met each other. At this moment I thought to myself what a wonderful job we did at keeping our relationship healthy and long.. at keeping our love young.
"By the way, you're doing the dishes sweetheart!" I said to him.
Told you.. it's give and take ;)
