Adventure Fiction Horror

“We have plenty of time,” said Luane, a 17-year-old girl, who lost all her dreams and ambitions along with her mother and father in a terrifying accident. It destroyed both of her legs while saving her little brother. She lost all her hopes and ambitious, the moment she got to know that whole life she has to be on wheelchair. She was busy in her thoughts when suddenly her little brother, Ludwik, ran towards her. Luane didn’t know what to do, where to go, for at least feeding her brother one proper meal a day. After all, he was just a 10-year-old boy.

Just during her parent’s funeral, she even had the thoughts of food poisoning Ludwik. She thought it must be easy to die from food poisoning rather than starving to death. But something inside her said, “No, Luane, you can’t do this. He is only person left in your family. He make two of you.”

The relatives, who give a lecture of having hope were the worst because neither they understand nor Luane hoped them to, but they the thing was if they consoled Luane and her brother, it meant that they pitied them and someone pitying them was something Luane was just not ready to accept.

Out of nowhere, her phone rang. She picked it up. Someone from the other side spoke. “Hello! can I speak to Luane Lawson?”

“I’m Luane Lawson.”

“We have an opportunity for you to earn money! We are from MedBlossom Pharmacy Company. Our company is looking for a few cripples, for a medicine testing. Do you want to try for it?”

“Can you tell me how much are you paying?”

“Just name the price. But will pay you much more than your small part-time job at Winky’s supermarket. And the medicine will make sure that you won’t be needing a wheelchair.”

“Are you sure this legal?”

“Yes, the trial of the medicine is done under Government authorisation.”

“Okay! Where do I meet you tomorrow?”

“We will pick up you from your home. Address, please?”

“Flat no.98 at Solaris Apartment, Whitebridge Town.”

“Be ready by 7 AM.”

“No, not 7….. Make it by 10, my brother has his school… I will go after dropping him.”

“Okay, which school does your brother go?…. I will pick you from there.”

“Moon-bright Primary School, Whitebridge Town.”

“Okay.”

“Thank you, now I will keep the phone.”

And Luane cut the call and gave a deep sigh and slept. She woke up next day, got Ludwik ready for his school, and made his tiffin. She herself got ready. She walked down the street with Ludwik and dropped her brother at his school.

Outside the school, a young man, all clad in formal attire, was waiting for someone. That person took out his phone and call her. She recognised the number. So, without picking it up, she walked straight out to him. She said to him, “Hi, I’m Luane Lawson. We talked over the phone, last night.”

“Hello, I’m Arnold Johannes. Let’s get down to work.”

Arnold was a good driver. He had brown hair and a different type of charm, which would attract any kind of girl. He was elegant and dashing.

Both of them sat in the car, and Arnold drove the car to the science lab. The lab was located in a secluded area and the security was tight. Arnold took a card from his pocket and placed it in front of the lock. The door opened automatically.
