Short Story

It’s a rainy Friday morning in northern Ohio. Jack wakes up to his alarm screaming at him to get up and get some breakfast. He gets up, goes to the bathroom, washes up and goes to eat breakfast. He then realized he just brushed his teeth before breakfast. He has no time to eat and re brush his teeth so he eats and takes some gum with him. The bus arrives at 7:20 and he is ready for the day to commence. Jack gets on the bus and sees Spencer and Ella in the back like everyday. Jack is convinced that something is going on between those two but they never admit it. 

“Jack, how was your game last night?” asks Spencer. “It was good we played well and won the game!” Jack replies. Ella tries to chime in but they ignore her. Ella gets mad and starts annoying Spencer. “Spencer,Spencer,Spencer!” He finally has had enough and yells, “WHAT!?” Ella giggles and turns away. They arrive at school at around 8:00 and class starts in 5 minutes. The trio gets off the bus, grabs some cereal for class and tries to make it to their lockers and class in time. They get to their lockers and they see these big men in black suits. They get scared for a second and approach them. “Excuse us,” Ella says. The men see them and they ask if it’s them. They all respond with yes at the same time. 

The men tell them one thing, they say “Open the letter when The Three Bells of Fira strike” and hand them all a note. Jake asks them what the Three Bells of Fira are but they walk away. “What was that?!” They look over and see Andrew the school bully. A 6’2, 250 lbs five star football star. He loves bullying these kids because they can’t do anything about it. He snatches the notes out of Jack's hands. The note is folded over, Andrew tries to open it but he can’t. Jack then proceeds to go up and punch Andrew dead in the nose. Everyone including Jack himself is in shock. Andrew is bleeding and his face turns red with anger. He charges at Jack but he does it miraculously. It has become not your average high school fight. They go back and forth with hits but somehow Jack has been untouched. Andrew says “Enough of this crap, you're dead” he corners Jack and charges him Jack ducks and avoids Andrew but some is not right. Andrew is hunched over and still for a few seconds until he falls face first on the floor, everybody runs over and sees that he has a knife through his chest. 

Jack,Spencer and Ella are shocked. Jack grabs the letter and grabs them and they go into the cafeteria. “Jack what the hell just happened?!” Jack is in shock and doesn’t answer for a few seconds. “I…. I… I don’t know…..” He is shaking with fear, Spencer goes over and Jack is ice cold. “Jack what is going on, how did you do that? I've never seen anyone do that and now you're freezing cold?!!”  Jack passes out and falls to the ground. They rush over to him. They don’t know what to do, Ella puts her hand on his forehead to see if he is still cold and he is. As cold as ice. Ella keeps her hand on his forehead and she notices it is getting warmer. “Spencer! Spencer” she yells “He’s getting warmer!!” Spencer rushes over and Jack wakes up. “We need to be ready,” Jack says. “What are you talking about?” Ella replies in shock. Jack says while he was passed out he saw what was going on with the men in suits and what happened with Andrew. “We are special beings,” he says. They don’t believe him and get him home. 

On the way home another incident happens. They encounter something but they have no idea what it is. “Um Spencer, what the hell is that?!” Ella says in fear. Spencer replies with “That’s a minotaur…” Spencer is in disbelief, minotaurs aren’t real they are just myths he says. This was no myth a full grown minotaur was charging them from the distance. They look at Jack and his eyes are sparking. He starts walking towards the minotaur. “JACK WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!?” Spencer yells at him. Jack turns around and says “I’m going to kill this thing.” Then BOOM Jack gets struck by lighting and clouds appear around them.

Jack looks to be fully charged with electrical charges. “Spencer what’s that noise?!” They look where the minotaur comes from and see hundreds more coming. “Oh.. my god…” Spencer is shocked and passes out. Ella goes to him and checks him. He is cold just like how Jack was. But he is getting warmer Ella is getting freaked out. And then BOOM he wakes up but he is burning hot like fire. “Oh my god, I see it now.” Spencer says. “”WHAT,WHAT DO YOU SEE??!” replies Ella. Stay here Spencer tells her. And then Spencer is flying right up with Jack. “Did you see it too?!” asks Jack. Spencer replies with “Yes I saw everything we will have to explain to Ella.” “That is going to have to wait for this,” Jack says. Spencer and Jack fly straight down into the ground to cause a huge BOOM that made a huge crater but more importantly blew almost all the minotaurs away. They get up and start fighting the remainder of the minotaurs. 

Once they are done with the minotaurs they turn around and see Ella is behind a tree in shock. They fly over to her to try and explain what is going on. “Ella, Ella it’s ok it’s just us” says Jack. Ella is trembling in fear,shock and a bunch of other feelings. She doesn’t know what to believe. They get Ella back to their tree house in the woods. It’s a place they all feel safe at,it’s like a home to them. “Would anyone like to explain what just happened” Ella says with a frustrated tone.
