Coming of Age Romance Teens & Young Adult

Lovers.  That’s what they had been since high school.  They had always been together.  They resented when they were apart.  They could be surrounded by a mob but they would still feel alone.

Separate.  They felt completed together.  They needed each other; if not they felt as if they would combust.  They would feel worlds apart.  Longing for the other.

Graduation.  The event they never wanted to see.  They knew what would happen after.  They would be forced to be apart.  They each wanted to follow a different path in life.  One wanted to be a business owner.  The other wanted to be a doctor.  They knew that where they wanted to go the other didn’t.

Their paths weren’t meant to intertwine.  They fell madly in love with the other.  They weren’t supposed to.  They weren’t built for the other.  They were distended to be with another, but they refused to leave the other.

Collage.  A part in your life that is supposed to open your opportunities.  To meet new people.  To find a lover and just explore life.  The lovers didn’t want to go.  As life forced them apart they tried to stay together.  They clung onto each other.  Late night calls had been frequent.  Till they stopped.  The lovers had gotten too busy for the other.  They still tried to contact the other.  They each had hoped their paths would meet again.

They began to separate.  They never didn’t that.  They agreed to take a break.  Hoping that they could see each other again.  They hoped to see the other smile and laugh.  They wanted to make the other feel loved.  They knew the distance hurt the other so much.  They knew how the other longed to be held and told that everything was going to be alright.

Fresh.  They had a fresh slate.  They started to see new people.  They still thought of the other.  They both blamed themselves for how it ended.  They would imagine seeing the other on dates.  They imagined these new people had been the other.  They just wanted to be together again.  It apined them to be apart.

Acceptance.  They had started to accept that they weren’t meant to be.  They thought the other deserved better.  To not be hurt by someone who wasn’t even in their life.  They moved on.  Waiting for the years to end.  They didn’t have many left.

Remembrance.  They remembered all of the fun times they had had together.  How they would make the other laugh so hard it would hurt their stomach.  They missed those times together.  They missed how they could always make the other smile, or how the other would turn a bad situation into a good one.  Their laughter had been plaguing their mind for days.  Oh how they had longed to be with the other once again.

A chance.  One saw a chance.  They contemplated it.  Scared of what the other would say after all those years.  Scared of the rejection that could happen.  They needed to see the other though.  Needed the comfort of their voice.  To see the other and their smile as it brightens the whole room.  All they would have to do was catch a train to the college to see it again.

Again.  They arrived.  They would see the other soon.  They were scared of what could happen.  They could be hated for how things ended.  They could be kicked to the curb.  There was no telling for what would happen.  It scared them.

Fear.  The moment was happening.  They would see the other.  All these years had passed.  They wondered what the other would say.  They wondered how they would behave around the other.  There were so many different routes the meeting could take.  This was a huge chance they were taking.

Moment. It was happening.  They would see each other again.  They saw the other.  They met at a local park.  The evening was cloudy.  Kids running around.  Couples having picnics.  They spotted the other.  Cloudy eyes.  Clearly stuck in a daydream.  They smiled at how the other hadn’t seemed to change one bit.  Still dreaming on how fictional scenarios could happen.  Smiling ever so lightly at the possibilities the other could be dreaming of.

Smile.  The first time they noticed was the way the other’s nose scutched when they smiled.  Euphoria.  That was hope they felt just seeing the others smile.  They never knew how much they missed it.  They missed all of the others little quicks.  The way they had gotten scared so easily or how they doddled on their arms.

Admiration.  The way the other admired them.  As they talked about how things had been since college the other couldn’t keep their eyes off them.  The way they had spoken with such enthusiasm lurd the other in.  The way their eyes had sparkled as they talked about subjects they enjoyed.

Storm.  As they kept talking a light drizzle started.  They started to worry how the other would feel.  They started apologizing on how they should have checked the forecast beforehand.  The other just smiled and stood up.  Running around in the rain.  They followed after.  They both lived in the moment.  They both felt free.

Quickly.  The day fell by too quick.  It made both of them realize how much they missed the other.  They regretted taking the break.  The day made them realize how much they needed the other.  It made them realize how much time they went through with the other.  No one could even come close to replacing what they had with each other.  The moment they had been living in flew by.

Action.  They had longed for the other.  When they separated they felt alone.  Despite having others they felt alone.  The person they wanted was hours away.  They both were still busy.  They had been able to make time for the other though.  They were determined to be together again.  They were determined to make it work this time.
