You could say that my life is boring. My name is Alex. I’m 14 years old and I live in Los Angeles, California. My life is boring because nothing ever interesting happens, well not until this morning. My mom is a nurse down at the hospital and my brother is just this really mean guy that always sleeps over but has a degree in earth science, him name is Oscer. I’m a straight A student that gets bullied all the time and no teacher likes me. You can see you I am on depression medication. But life wasn’t always this boring and depressing. It used to be just plain scary. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I’m talking about my dad. He’s the number one crime boss. He has shops all around the city set up to look like really boring places that no one wants to go to. But if you go in the back there’s maybe drugs or fake lotto tickets. When my mom found out about it she called the police and he was gone in five minutes. A couple months later she got the papers in the mail for a divorce and saw that it was from him. She signed them and we never talked about it. I never told anybody about it and Oscar hates the very mention of him. He used to hit our mom and throw Oscar in to walls. That’s what I mean by scary. He was SCARY.

I shoot my head up and hear a bang. Takes me a moment to realize that being was my head. I rub my eyes and see the top of the bunkbed and start to rub my eyes and see the top of the bunkbed and start to cuss.

“Can you stay quiet for one minute, I am on a video call with my friends!” I stick my tongue out even though he can’t see me.

”Well screw you!” Oh shoot back and then take a step out of the small bunkbed I’ve slept in since I was an infant. We live in a basement apartment and there’s only one room so mom sleeps on the couch and my brother and I share a room with the world‘s tiniest bed. Which can really ride on your nerves at times.

“Don’t you have to go to work in like five minutes?” Oscar works at a burger place to pay half of the rent.

”OH CRAP, got to go guys!” I hear him hang up and then he jumps out of bed which causes him to jump on me and us both to fall to the floor.

“What the hell!” We say in unison.

“Kids, come for breakfast!” our beautiful mothers voice rings through the door way with no door and the smell of cheap bacon and toaster waffles fills my nose.

I find myself floating to the table with the beautiful smell of food. Ask her on the other hand grabs a waffle and then zipped out the door with no further exclamatiI find myself floating to the table with the beautiful smell of food. Oscar on the other hand grabs a waffle and then zipped out the door with no further explanation.

”What was that all about?” my mother asks.

“Yes go to work, he’ll be late in 2 minutes.” My mother nods but I can see that she’s disappointed that we’re not going to have another family breakfast. My mother has long blonde hair that both me and Oscar got. Her gray eyes always light up with excitement when we’re doing something that revolves around family which is basically when we have meals and she’s extremely short for her age which leads me to believe that I got mine and Oscar tallness from... the other parent. Oscar and I complete copies of my mother. Well, my brother is not as nice as mom. Knock at the door scares the bacon from my hand and I half at whoever cost me to drop my delicious piece of two for one meat on the floor. Mom glides over to the door and with one look through the hole that is where the little window is supposed to be I know that it’s bad.

i’m now on my feet ready for anything to come through that door. Mom quietly opens the door and shows the man outside a smile. I now see that it’s a police officer. The police officers expression is blank and I can’t tell what he’s here for. If my brother has been doing something illegal I am extremely concerned but if it’s about my father I don’t want to hear it.

“Hello Miss. Walker, I have news that your ex-husband and your children’s father has been apprehended and is requesting your presence at court, along with your children.” I dropped my toast from my other hand, he was caught. He always posted to his friends that no officer could ever catch the great MARK.

I can’t believe they got him. He was always on the run with bags of money and a smile plastered across his face. It seem like nobody dared to touch him.

”The court date is in two weeks at 1 o’clock on the dot in count room number three. We hope that everyone of you will attend.” His eyes shift to me and I nod.

”As long as your strapping him down properly.” I say under my breath but the officer catches it and tilts up his glasses to reveal a confused lookI say under my breath but the officer catches it and tilts up his glasses to reveal a confused look.

“It’s complicated but I’ll be there to any court date.” The officer smiles and then walks up the stairs to the front of the house to probably drive away.

“I didn’t know that the officer came right to your house.” Mom starts to look frantic and goes through her bookshelf.

“Mom, are you OK?” she pulls down most of the books until she finds a giant binder and plops it on the table. She opens it and reveals hundreds of pictures of dad and letters. So many letters.

“Mom what is this?!”

”A while back I had trouble paying the rent, so I promised your dad that if he gave us money I would protect him if he ever got caught.”

”Mom, How could you he did horrible things!? He should be punished!”

”Well you don’t understand, if I don’t protect him in court he’s guys will come after us, maybe even looking for money and that’s worse!” My mothers head lifts up to reveal a very scared expression and I’ve only ever seen my mother scared half dozen times and all of them were because of my father.

He will pay for this.

Creative plot idea, but I think there were some missed grammar errors.
