Adventure Science Fiction Western

On a rainy ancient Roman night two outlaws sneak into Julius Ceasar’s palace. Their bandit outfits which include two broad-brimmed black cowboy hats, cow skinned ponchos, dark jeans and black boots with golden spurs keep them hidden in the dark halls that lead to a room of treasures. This room had the size to fit three elephants inside. The bandit that holds the lamp is the newly broken hearted, mustached heroine that leads the two, Wyatt O’Donell. Behind him with a sack ready to be filled with gold is the clumsy, clean shaving youngster that sees treasure ahead of mindfulness, The Duke.

“Easy forty G’s right here Wyatt. Let’s just take it all.” The Duke whispers excitingly. But Wyatt keeps walking around with his lamp. “Find the bracelet first. Then you can fill your sack with excitement.” Wyatt says back to The Duke. Duke doesn’t listen though and quietly puts in his sack a big golden vase and a handful of coins. Suddenly guards are heard running around and screaming at each other. They seem to be close so Wyatt blows out his flame and crouches down to stay completely still and hidden behind a pillar. The duke lowers down with the sack behind his back. He lowers in front of a bust of Julius Caesar that rests on a small pillar.

The two quiet bandits watch the feet of five or so guards run past the door of their treasure room. Once Wyatt presumes the guards are long gone he pulls out his matches and lights one to gain back a visual from the lamp. Wyatt gets up slowly and keeps searching for his specific prized bracelet. Then The Duke gets up quickly without realizing his sack rests on his back. As he jumps up the sack of Vases, plates and coins hit the bust of Julius Caesar. The bust falls off the pillar and The Duke slowly watches their quiet outlawing shatter. Wyatt turns around quickly at The Duke. “You idiot. You couldn’t just let the gold lay on the ground?” Wyatt yells to The Duke. Then the two look to the door where they hear those rummaging guards finally find their target. They start running to the treasure room.

“Hurry up and search.” Wyatt demands. With no worry about noise they now flip over tables, throw plates out the way and tip over vases. Wyatt then finds a small jewelry box filled with bracelets. He scavenges for it but then The Duke says, “It’s not gonna be in there. It’s never with common gold.” The Duke instead of looking at the ground level, looks up at the one painting in the room. Meanwhile the footsteps are coming closer but also gaining a bigger army. The Duke climbs up on a table to reach this painting. He pulls the piece off the wall and throws it on the ground. He finds a small hole in the wall carved out which is where this beautiful golden bracelet with a velvet stone never seen before sits. “I got her Wyatt. This it?” The Duke shows the bracelet off and Wyatt nods his head in agreement.

The door is trifled open by the dozens of guards. They all yell and aim their spears at the two bandits. But then Wyatt and The Duke pull out their dark green blasters that have tubes coming out of them and an option on the side with a selection of settings. The two shoot each other as a spear is hauled at them.

The boys are transported to Paris. Specifically Paris in 1923. They arrive in front of La Rotonde, a cafe in the Montparnasse Quarter.  As they walk in they can see writers of  “The Lost Generation” including Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. First they approach the bar with their Velvet stoned bracelet. They place it down in front of them and the bartender walks over to pick it up. “You guys didn’t have any trouble with getting it right?” The bearded and muscular bartender asked. Wyatt looked at The Duke in total annoyance and says, “No. We were in and out.”. The bartender then pulls out a stack of cash and places it in front of the two. “If you want to double this I have something else you guys can grab for me.” He said. The Duke’s eyes start floating away to three dazzling girls dancing with each other in a corner. Wyatt stays curious and asks, “When is this one?”. The bartender reaches under the counter and grabs a folder. He hands it over. Wyatt opens it and glances at a couple facts. Then he puts his hand out and says, “Whatever we’ll do it I guess.” The bartender shakes his hand.

The Duke enters back into the conversation just to ask, “Ok am I good to go now?” Wyatt asks back, “Am I like your mother?”. “Pretty much acts like it.?” He responds. “Whatever leave us.” Wyatt says. The Duke without hesitation joins the three girls. He comes over and says, “Allons danser.” The girls laugh and say in complete English, “What’s that mean?”. “Let’s dance. I think it’s the two words everyone should know in every language.”The Duke says with his charismatic charm. The girls then bring him into their circle.

Wyatt walks away from the bar counter and sits with some of  the greatest writers in history. He sits in between Hemingway and Fitzgerald. Even though Wyatt is still in his bandit outfit the boys around him don’t seem to have a care in the world. They look at his feelings rather than his appearance. “What’s wrong kid?” Hemingway asks. “Do you guys like teams or duos? Would you write a book with someone?” Wyatt asks to begin his explanation. “Hell boy, my art is my art. Nobody will be coherent with me.” Hemingway says as he chugs half his beer down. “It’s harder I think. But some teams or duos work. May I question how you feel about your duo?” Fitzgerald asks eloquently. Wyatt looks over at The Duke having a grand time. “I don’t really know. I love him and all but he’s clumsy and I just feel some missions could go smoother without him.” he comes out with the truth. “He’s holding you back then. You need something new. Why do you think we flocked to Paris away from our homes? The answer is to be set free. To not be held back.” Hemingway explains. Then Fitzgerald adds in, “You must try new things out to realize if you need to get rid of the old or stay with it.” Wyatt thinks on this proposition and then looks down at the folder for his new mission. “Thanks guys.” He says and then slams down some money for the starving artists in them.

Wyatt quickly opens his folder before approaching his partner Duke. In the folder he reads his new destination which it states is, “Medieval London, 1348- The Beginning of The Black Plague”. He closes the folder and storms up to The Duke. “We’re going. Come on kid.” Wyatt interrupts The Duke. “Come on Wyatt, she was just about to give me her address.” The Duke says in annoyance. “Dude you have the whole timeline in your hand and you're mad about some frenchy? What if she becomes some pro nazism medic?” Wyatt responds as he leads the way out of La Rotonde. “Look, it's a chance many must take.” Duke responds with total hope. “Where are we even going this time?” He then asks. “Uh…the building of the pyramids of Giza.” Wyatt says with hesitation as they go through the front doors.

Wyatt and The Duke take out their blasters. The Duke goes to aim it at himself but takes a glance at Wyatt who has his blaster raised at The Duke. The Duke then pulls his blaster away from himself and points it at Wyatt. “I’m sorry kid. You just…just hold me back. We were nearly speared in Rome. I’m breaking us up.” Wyatt explains with sorrow in his voice. “You schmuck. You didn’t even find the bracelet in Rome, I did. I’m the reason you succeed. Don’t be foolish.” The Duke says back. “You're still a child to all this. Don’t follow my treasure.” Wyatt completes his speech. Then he shoots The Duke into the Ice Age. Wyatt takes a deep breath wondering if that was the right decision. Then he shoots himself into Medieval London.

Wyatt arrives in the Tower of London. He sneaks from hallway to hallway until he’s found his correct room. The room of Armory which should include the Golden sword of Draxila. He moves around through the loud steel that makes up all the armor inside this small room. Wyatt thought this must’ve been too easy because a chest with gold platings stood at the back of the room. “Must it be? No way. It’s too easy.” Wyatt thought to himself.  As he opens this mysterious but hopeful chest the gold from this sword glows on his face. The sword is found.

Suddenly another voice is heard. “You're the idiot. Did you not think I saw where and what we were to grab?” The voice belongs to one other than The Duke. Wyatt turns his head around slowly.

Back In La Rotonde

“If you want to double this I have something else you guys can grab for me.” The Bartender says. The Duke’s eyes start floating away to three dazzling girls dancing with each other in a corner but his ears stay attached to this business proposition. Wyatt stays curious and asks, “When is this one?”. The bartender reaches under the counter and grabs a folder. He hands it over. Wyatt opens it and glances at a couple facts. Without noticing, The Duke then turns his eyes to the folder. He is able to seek out the key information. Wyatt then puts his hand out and says, “Whatever we’ll do it I guess.” The bartender shakes his hand. Duke resumes staring at the girls when Wyatt glances to see if The Duke approves of the deal. Wyatt thinks The Duke has been staring this whole time.

Back In Tower of London

“Maybe this ain’t your treasure anymore.” The Duke says coldly. He then shoots Wyatt without hesitation and retrieves the Golden Sword of Draxila.

Peculiar! A neat idea, but you are doing a lot of "telling" rather than "showing." E.G., "Wyatt walks away from the bar counter and sits with some of the greatest writers in history." The latter part of that is telling us, rather than simply showing us Hemingway and Fitzgerald are there. Smaller paragraphs would be more effective too. Still, kind of fun!
