*yawn!* the room was dark and no light was found anywhere, jumping off the bed to stretch out all of her limbs. Her long body was now ready for the day she just needed to awake her owner. “Girl it’s time to wake up!.” She lightly placed her chin to the bed, but the girl was still asleep a loud wimper was Herd as the girl that look to be 28 years old turn on her lamp to find her Labrador retriever waging her tail waiting for her to wake up. “Come on girl! I have to go!.” The girl takes her phone to check the time and sighs “ok lady let’s go.” as her still tired voice said while getting out of bed. The dog or should I say “Lady” was very excited about her new day. “My girl is the best girl!, sure she’s slow sometimes but I can always count on her!. She’s my best friend! And we do so much togethe! I wonder what today is gonna be like?. Oh I hope we get to have so much fun today!.” Lady has always been on the “Girl” side for so long she remembere another name Girl gose by but always forgets it because of all the fun they get to have. She remembered the day when Girl first adopted Lady. she can still remember waking up, in the rescue shelters or what she calls. “the home finder” she was quite small at the time, and doesn’t remember her mother so much. her eyes just woke up and found another one like her, she took her first sniff and from that she met her brother. “You smell like a boy!.” “You smell like a girl!.” The both of them wag there very small tails as to show they were happy. “I remember my brother but he had no name, we stayed in that “home finder” for a long time!, it was so cold and sad, all the other dogs would make sad faces and sounds. so me and my brother did the same. But one day a family came and look at us, they said they would take us home but took my brother instead. i thought maybe they just forgot about me, but they never came back...I always wondered what happened to my brother then one day when I got bigger. I saw Girl! She look rather sad I guess because The dogs made her sad, she was talking about some accident she had and walked kinda funny too. But she had two legs so I can see why she would have a hard time. She look all around but then she look at me!. She was definitely sad and in pain too...”. “Now this little girl right here her mother was found in a old building we rescued her mama but she past away after she gave birth to her pups.” “Aw how sad.” The Girl kneel down and put her finger through the Cage, the Lab sniff her finger and lick it her eyes shine through the Girl‘s as they made a connection. “Girl’s eyes were blue but glossy and tired, she also smiled at me she looks better when she smiles I like Girl a lot.” “I think she’s the one.” The Girl smiled and so did her new lab too, the both of them were now inseparable! looking at her new puppy she found a name. “She looks like a Lady...I think will name you Lady.” “Lady?...hmmm I think I can go for that!.” as the Girl or Abby was her real name sign all the paper work as they both walk out the door. “Oh miss!, Lady dose have a couple of things where is your car at?, so I may help-“. “I Don’t drive...because of the accident...”. “Oh...I’m so sorry.” “Accident? Did she pee on something?, no...she looks like...it hurt her...” Abby took the box from the woman and made her way home. Her mother and sister wasn’t too pleased. “Abigail! what were you thinking?! Do you know how fast and strong these Dogs are?!.” “Boy she looks mad.” As the lab lay on the ground watching everything going on. “Mom the doctor said I need to start walking.-“ “Abby! You are! Since the accident you never drove or try too!, if Dan were here-“. “DONT YOU DARE BRING HIS NAME INTO THIS!.” The girl sob into her hands as she kept on fixing her position, as if she wasn’t comfortable. She lift up her pants leg to show her knee red and had some bolts into it. The dog saw what her knee was and walk to it sniffing it wondering why it was like that. “You bent down again!-“. “Mom just stop! I can’t go on like this!, if Dan was here he would tell me to keep on walking!. It’s my fult he’s not here you don’t have to remind me im crippled!.” looking back at that agreement, both Girl and Lady now older and healthier. Lady learn to keep her owner safe and what would harm her. With her coffee in hand and the keys across the table her heart pounding thinking of the “what if’s..”. “Girl been looking at those for a long time...”. “....you think today’s the day Lady?.” The lab rested her head on her lab as her green eyes shine like the Gastby light that capture the imagery of Gastby himself. “No matter what day it is, I’ll always be by your side...snd if we can’t do it today then there’s always tomorrow.” It was as if she could hear her speak, she smiled and gave Lady a piece of toast and decided today was the day. She got herself and Lady ready as they went to the car. The car was very old and dust, all the others were clean but this said it say better days. she hesitated at first then said. “I think a good wash will do...”. She look at her Dog as the lab gesture to her and the car. “You can do it Girl, I believe in you.” The girl smiles and finally gets in, Lady found her place as she watch her owner start the car. it scared the both of them. as it turn on and the lights all came to life, the Girl shifted the gear into reveres. backing out of the apartment parking lot, then shifting to drive she found herself on the road again. it felt as if she never stop driving, a smile came on her face knowing she couldn’t have made it this far if it wernt for her best friend. “Hey Lady, how about after we clean this thing up we get some ice cream?.” “Ice cream sounds great!.” The End.
