Elizabeth woke up on the floor in a strange room, everything is stark white. A white so pure that it hurts when she opens her eyes. She looks around through slanted eyes, until she adjusts to the brightness. She tries to remember how she got there, but her mind is blank and she keeps hearing a strange roaring noise. Similar to the static from a t.v. As her eyes adjust to the light, she notices that there are two doors and a single table.
She weakly gets up and stumbles toward the table, her legs felt both like rubber and concrete. After what felt like an hour, she finally reaches the table.
" What time is it? " She says out loud to no one in particular. She looks down and sees she still has her watch but the time is moving backwards.
" What the fuck is going on? " She looks around again, nothing has changed except the brightness.
" I guess my eyes have finally adjusted " Nothing looks different, the noise is gone and her legs finally feel normal. She looks at the table, there is a single piece of paper with only two words.
" Choose one "
Confused, she reads the two words again still confused.
" Choose what? " She says out loud.
As soon as the words left her mouth, lights shine above each door. One black, one read and the word choose one. Choose on the door with the black light and the word on, on the door with the red light.
Still confused she walks closer to the doors to see if any other clues are on them. But as she gets closer, the lights get darker and a humming is coming from behind both. No more than five feet away, the humming as become almost unbearable to hear. It's vibrating through her bones, causing her to clench her jaws so tight the she felt her tooth crack.
The noise suddenly and violently stops. She focuses her eyes and looks at the doors again, she doesn't understand why her vision got blurry. She doesn't understand anything at this point.
" Ok, these are the only doors in this..." She looks around and it suddenly dawn's on her how massive the room actually is.
" I have to choose a door to get out. But what the fuck is behind the doors? What caused that awful humming? "
She stares at the doors, thinking about what to do. When the humming starts again, but it's not as loud or shocking as before. It seems to be coming out it patterns, of high and low volumes. But it doesn't get that high but when it goes low I can feel it in my heart. My heart's starts to beat along with it's rhythm, it seems to be getting hotter and brighter.
" Now what, shit!!!!! " She says with increasing frustration.
" To pick one, but which one? I don't know what is behind either door. What will happen to me once I go through the door? What will happen if I don't choose? " She hears a sound behind her and turns around quickly, too quickly she got a little dizzy. There is another piece of paper on the table.
She walks back to the table and reads the second note.
" Pick one or die...." She says to herself
" Well that answers one question. This is beyond fucked and I'll probably still die. " She sighs deeply and walks slowly to the doors again. She notices the humming has stopped and the light over the doors are impossibly bright.
She stares at the doors, not knowing what to do. " She I choose one or do I risk death? " She looks around again, and sees that nothing has changed. Something has changed about the doors but she can't wrap her mind around it. " I have to make a choice, I have a strange feeling my time is running out. " She looks at her watch and sees it's spinning ridiculously fast.
" Fuck it I'll just choose one and stick with it." She looks at both doors.
" Red it is, since it's my favorite color that should bring me some luck. "
As she walks to the door, she no longer hears the humming but feels it. A voice in the back of her mind is saying that she made the wrong decision. The feeling won't go away but she stays course and keeps going to the red door ( well actually a white door with a red light.)
The door handle is so cold is almost impossible to touch. She turns the handle but it doesn't budge. She tries again and it relents but not easily. As the door slowly open she feels warm air but sees no light.
" How can the handle be so cold but the air is so warm? " She continues to pull it open, the door is heavier than expected, or is she just that weak. She can feel the energy leaving her.
" Shit, what's happening? How can I be warm and cold at once. "
A hand suddenly grabs her hand from behind the sore and she screams, a scream she's never heard before. At first she believes it's coming from someone else but as her vocal cords start to burn and tear, she realizes it really is her. The hand is still holding on to her but it's not doing anything, the grip isn't that strong, and it feels both hot and cold.
She tries to pull her arm away but that causes the grip to tighten. She tries again, this time the grip is strong, too strong, it might break my arm. Suddenly she's through the door in complete darkness, and the door slams behind her.
She can still feel the hands grip but she doesn't think it still there. She tentatively reaches down with her other hand but nothing is there. Terrified she's too scared to move, in here it feels both hot and cold.
" Now where am I. What is the place and how in the all that is holy is in hear both hot and cold? "
She slowly slides her foot out, feeling for solid ground, it seems perfectly solid and steady. " Ok here goes, one step forward. That's all it takes, one step at a time. She takes a few steps then abruptly stops, because she felt fingers brush the back of her neck. She too scared to turn around, the darkness is so complete that it's impossible to adjust your eyes to it.
She starts to walk again, when a strong cold breeze comes from no where and she can smell pine. The wind almost knocked her down but just as suddenly as it appeared it was gone.
" WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING O.........."
The End
