Aze wasn't born but created by a god. Gods have right hands that they don't want anything to happen to and sometimes the gods will make a guard to protect the right hand and that's what Aze was. He was created to be a guard for a gods right hand man. When he was first created he was placed with priests to be groomed and trained. He became a master with fighting with a hammer and he was built to protect. Once he knew all he could the priests took him to the man he was to protect at all costs. The man was small and very handsome. With white hair and brown eyes. Very different than Aze. Of course it's better to say Aze was different from everyone else. He was a half dragon with white scales and icy blue eyes. When they boys met they stood there staying at each other. The boy seemed about 15. Aze was much older at 145.
"Hi, I'm Zekral Melaka. I am the right hand for Avana. The goddess of protection and charity." Then man said.
"I know this already. I'm Aze. I am here to protect you and guid you till you are ready to take Avanas place." Aze smiled. Zekral smiled back at him.
"It's weird isn't it? I mean Avana is the goddess of protection and I'm going to take her place but I still need to be protected." Zekral laughed a bit bit Aze could see he was a embarrassed.
"Zekral, I have been training for this before you were born. You are not done being groomed for your role. You still have growing to do and I am just here to help you. It's nothing to be ashamed of." Aze bowed to him a bit as a sign of respect. "You will do great things. It would be an honored to be there to see it."
After that day the two men were glued at the hip. They developed a strong bond. A friendship. But as time when on something slowly changed in Zekral. He started caring less and less for the people, the followers of Avana. He wasn't taking the teachings as seriously anymore. Aze saw the change and always talked to him about it but it went no where.
He started stealing and getting himself into Azes head that this was fine. Started telling Aze to cover for him. Aze knew it was wrong but he didn’t want to let people know he is failing Zekral so he listened and covered Zekral. As time went on Zekral got worse. He went on a darker and darker path and Aze followed him. Aze knew it was wrong and hated it but he followed him anyways to protect Zekral like his job all his teaching and work was to do in the first place. It was the only thing that made Aze feel better, remembering he was made to protect Zekral. It was all good until it was going to be taken to far. Zekral took Aze to the temple of Avana.
“Why are we here?” Aze asked Zekral.
“This isn’t me Aze. This life isn’t what I want. It’s time for me to denounce my faith.” Zekral stepped to the temple doors.
“If you do that you know what will happen don’t you?” Aze looked at Zekral waiting for any reaction from him. Zekral was still for a moment then slowly shook his head no. “I’ll have to leave. I was made to protect you because of who you are and who you will become. If you pull away from that I can’t be by your side anymore. You’ll be alone.”
“I can’t keep going on a path I don’t want to be on for one person.” Zekral spoke.
“I’m not just one person. If I’m gone you’ll be alone. Are you ready for that?” Aze walked to Zekral so he was next to his friend. Zekral put his hand up and fire shot out of it and hit the temple setting it ablaze. Aze and Zekral looked at each for a moment then Zekral walked off without a word. No words were needed once his choice was made. Aze closed his eyes and when he opened them again he was in heaven next to Avana.
“He left me.” Avana spoke softly. She had brown curly hair and beautiful green eyes. She was dressed in a silky gold dress. She was sad though with the loss of Zekral.
“He found it wasn’t the path for him.” Aze felt lost. He was sad for the lost of Zekral but he understood that you can’t be forced into a path you don’t want to be on. Avana nodded and walked off. Space was needed for everyone. For days it was like time passed slowly. Aze had nothing to do. He was lost and needed someone, something. He was made to protect someone and now he was left sitting around and playing in his head over and over the fact Zekral walked away.
He heard words of Zekral causing chaos on the world. He joined a group called the black orchid. A group about taking down all religions. It was the news that pulled Avana out of her depression. She called for Aze to see her.
Aze met up with her on her throne that was made out of rose wood and gold. He walked to her and bowed to her in respect.
“You called for me?” His voice was soft. The last he spoke to her, she was sad with the loss of Zekral and he didn’t know how she would be feeling now. She gave him a smile.
“I have a job for you again. You might not like it but it needs to be done and you are the best fighter I have.” She had some hesitation in her voice but she was bold in her words. What Aze was going to hear, he knew nothing was going to change her mind. “I need you to take down The Black Orchid. As you know Zekral is in that group and you know what they are about. Recently I’ve heard Zekral is now running the group. Aze I need you to kill him. Take out the top and the rest will crumble.”
Aze was lost for words. He didn’t want to kill Zekral but he knew it would be the right thing to do. The right thing might be hard but he was made to protect only this time he isn’t protecting one person, he’s not only protecting the world, he’s protecting gods and all they stand for.
Aze was going to be a worrier. A hero.
