Vacation Reunion.

Emily was heading back home from school. She had missed the bus. She wanted to complete her math assignment before she went home. “Emily wait” a voice called from behind.It was Lisa. Lisa was from the neighborhood but she wasn’t that close to Emily. They actually weren’t friends. Did she also miss the bus, she thought. “ Sorry to bother you but my friends actually left me, l thought we could walk home together.” She said. “ No problem “ Emily replied. The two girls kept walking but they never had any conversation. They were just smiling at each other, Until Lisa broke the silence. “ Actually on Sunday is my birthday and am organizing a party, wanna come.” She said. “ Are you inviting me?" She asked. “Yeah.” Lisa replied. Lisa could see her house at a distance. She turned and smiled at Emily. “Thanks a lot, l should get going.” She said. Emily watched Lisa as she went to her house. She saw Lisa’s Mum welcome her daughter with a beautiful smile. Emily felt a bit jealous because she had never been showed such affection from her mum. She reached home and found her dad her dad in the garage repairing his car. “ Hello dad.” “ Hey how are you doing.” He replied. “ How was school¿ “ he asked while checking the car seat. “Good only that l missed the bus”. “I see that’s why you walked. She entered the house and went up stairs to her room. She had a shower and got dressed. She looked at the picture that was placed on the table. It was a family picture. It had her mom, dad and her when she was five years. She felt bad when she looked at their family picture. It brought her sad memories and she started crying. Years back Emily lived with both her parents before they divorced. Her mum was a nurse and her dad was a cop. Diana , Emily’s mom worked hard so that she could pay the hospital bills since her husband was involved in a deadly accident.Henry spent 3months in comma and 1 month still under medication. He was seriously injured. He couldn’t walk. Diana worked hard to pay the hospital bills.Two days later Henry was discharged. But he barely walked. Things had changed between the two. Diana felt her life was a living hell. She had gotten a miscarriage due to stress a month after her husband had gotten the accident. She didn’t tell Henry anything concerning her miscarriage. Henry and Diana kept fighting, quarreling over small misunderstanding. Time passed and Henry recovered. The two divorced when Henry was able to walk again. Emily was 7 years old. Diana got married to Dylan and they went to live in New York. 7years later Emily was staying with her dad. She kept looking at the picture. She hated her a lot. She had left them for another man because of money. She knew everything that was between them. l shouldn’t be crying she thought. She threw the pic in the dustbin and went downstairs. She picked her food from the fridge and started doing her homework. It was a Sunday afternoon and all the kids were at Lisa’s house playing. Emily reached the door and knocked. She was so nervous. Lisa opened the door. She was happy to see her again. Lisa hugged her and told her to enter. “ Feeling nervous.” She asked. “ l have never been around so many people.” Emily replied. “Let me introduce you to my friends.“ Lisa introduced Emily to all her friends and the party was fun. Emily went back home happily. She had made new friends.Her dad was waiting for her. He was watching football. “ welcome back my Angel, how was the party.” “ lt. was so much fun dad, l have really enjoyed. “ she replied. That’s good to hear he replied. She kept telling him how the party went. The friends she had made. Henry realized how happy his daughter was. He had never seen her so happy for the past seven years. Diana on the other side was reading a story book to her children. She had two daughters. They were actually twins. Elly and Lilly. Elly and Lilly lived a luxurious life. They had all they ever wanted. Their dad was a multi millionaire. They were six years. Diana had told them that she had an elder daughter. The girls always wanted to know more about Emily. Elly and Lilly slept. Diana looked at her daughters. She remembered Emily whenever she was to sleep she always had to read her a book. She switched off the lights and went to her room to rest. The next morning they were having breakfast. “ Daddy, since we are having holidays were are we going for vacation.” Lilly asked. “ Well l don’t know, maybe you can suggest.” Dylan replied. “ Texas!”The two said . “Why Texas? “Diana asked because she was surprised. “We shall tell you when we are there.” Elly replied. “ No problem, if you say so.” Dylan replied. Diana looked at them suspiciously. But the two girls just smiled at her. Going to Texas wasn’t a bad idea but that’s where Henry was staying. Diana was afraid she might find him. She heard hurt his feelings and Emily she had left her little girl. She didn’t like the idea of going to Texas. But she had nothing to do she had to please her little girls. It wasn’t long they were in Texas. They spent the first two days touring around. Dylan went back to NewYork for business. Diana stayed in Texas with the Twins. Diana sat by the window. She could see how beautiful Texas had became. She started thinking about Emily. How was she? Does she still know me? How does she look now? She thought. Elly sat next to her. She looked at her mother. She was in deep thought. “ thinking about Emily.” She asked. “ What are you talking about. “ Don’t pretend you know what l mean. One reason as to why we chose to come to Texas was for you to meet Emily. I always see you look at her picture and cry. And l actually want to have a big sister who l can tell my secrets. Elly said. Diana looked at her daughter. She couldn’t believe what she had just heard. She hugged Elly. “ How did you know she is in Texas.” In the background of her picture there is a restaurant and l googled it. And l found out it’s in Texas.” She replied. The next day Diana went to the market. She went to buy some groceries for the weekend. While at the market she saw a familiar face. It was Henry. She was so happy to see him again but she pitied him at the same time. He was so thin. He was still leaping. She felt so bad for him. She hid behind a flowerpot. She followed him while he headed to his house. He had shifted to a new house since he wasn’t able to afford their old house. Henry was stopped from working as a cop due to his condition. He worked as a mechanic at a small garage. She hid behind a small bush and watched Henry enter the house. She waited to see if she could see Emily come out. Five minutes passed. No one was coming out of the house. Her eyes were fixed on the door. She didn’t even realize that behind her was someone. “ Excuse me madam.” A voice from behind called. She turned and a girl was standing behind her. It was Lisa. “Are you looking for someone?” She asked. “ No l ..l..had just dropped my watch.” She replied while panicking.”Okay! “ Lisa replied. “ Have a nice day madam.” She continued. Lisa was heading to Emily’s house. They were going to the circus that evening. While on their way to the circus, Emily spotted a watch. “ Do you see that watch there, Emily said and Lisa turned to look at the watch Emily was pointing at, “ l want to buy it for my dad.” Oh really, it’s beautiful.”Lisa said. I almost forgot, On my way to your house l found a woman hiding behind a bush but,she was looking at your house. “ Lisa Said. “ Our house! “ Emily replied surprised. I think you were mistaken. She continued. “ Am not, am sure she was looking at your house.” She replied. The girls were interrupted by the music which was playing at the circus. Diana kept wondering how she could face her daughter. When ever she got the courage to meet her she could suddenly stop at a distance and went back. Elly and Lilly always forced her to go and meet Emily they wanted the two to reunite. It was a Saturday morning, Emily was in a hurry. She had made plans with Lisa. They were going for swimming.Elly and Lilly were there too. Lilly accidentally pushed Emily. she fell into the pool. She started drowning and Elly ran to the water to help her. She helped her out of the water. “ Am so sorry” Lilly apologized to Emily. “ No need to apologize, you have already ruined my dress.” Emily replied. “ she has said she is sorry, no need to be rude.” Elly said. “ l can get you another dress” Lilly said. “ It’s fine, “ Emily replied. Lisa brought a towel and she covered Emily with it. The twins took Emily and Lisa to where their bags were. “ since you’re wet, you should go and swim.” Elly said. “ l don’t know how to swim.” Emily replied shyly. “ l will teach you.” Lilly said. “ no need l don’t have a swimsuit.” She replied. “ Don’t worry, let me get you one.” Lilly and Lisa went to one of the staffs to direct them where they could buy a swimsuit. Elly and Emily were left at the poolside alone. “ Thank you for saving me, l owe you.” Emily said. “ No need, am happy l helped you.” She replied. “Am Elly by the way,and that’s Lilly my twin sister.” She continued offering her her hand. “ Am Emily and that’s my friend Lisa.” She replied. They shook hands with and the two girls laughed at each other. Lilly took Emily by hand and took her to the pool. Before she felt nervous but with time she started getting used to the water. She was feeling embarrassed to be taught how to swim by a young girl. Every afternoon Emily and Lisa went to meet Elly and Lilly for swimming. Emily had greatly improved her swimming skills. Emily always talked about the twins to her father. He realized how happy she was. As well as the twins,they kept telling their mum about Emily and Lisa. They invited Emily and Lisa for dinner. They wanted their mum to meet their new friends. Lisa wasn’t able to go. Her mum wasn’t home and she couldn’t leave her little brother home alone. She decided to stay. Emily was so excited. She had told her dad about the invitation. she went to their house. They opened the gate for her. “ Elly and Lilly’s house is so beautiful.” She said to herself. She reached the door and started panicking. She Was nervous. She pressed the door bell and a maid opened for her to enter. Elly and Lilly ran down stairs to meet her.Diana came over to meet the girls who were in the sitting room talking. “ Hello girls “ she greeted. Emily turned to see Lilly and Elly’s mum. To her surprise it was someone familiar. It was her mom. She opened her eyes widely and froze.She couldn’t believe who she had meet. Diana looked at Emily with a smile. She didn’t know that it was her daughter Emily. She had grown a lot. “ How are you” Diana greeted Her. Emily didn’t respond, she failed to even say a word. Elly and Lilly were confused. “ l....l should...get going. “ she replied while stammering. Everyone was in shock. Emily wasn’t herself. She couldn’t forget her mom’s face. She stormed off leaving everybody confused. Elly and Lilly tried to chase her to stop her from leaving. But she was already outside. Emily had accidentally left her handkerchief which her mom had bought for her when she was little. Diana picked it. She looked at it and started crying. She realized why Emily ran out. She decided to follow in order to meet her daughter. “ how can l have forgotten my own daughter. I couldn’t even recognize her. She kept asking herself questions when she ran to find Emily. She found Elly and Lilly on the way. They had failed to reach Emily. “Where has she gone?” She asked them. They both pointed at the direction she had taken.she ran to the direction to find her. Elly and Lilly followed. They started to look for Emily but she was nowhere to be seen. After a while They found her seated on a bench next to the park. She was crying. Diana looked at her. She didn’t know what say “ Emily, am so sorry for......everything that happened.” “I know l wronged you in many ways but please forgive me. She continued. “ you finally remembered me huh, the girl you abandoned.” She said. “ After all this time, you come back , and you expect me to accept you.” She continued. Am so sorry Emily, l ... I’ve always wanted to talk to you , to meet you but l failed. I couldn’t face you.She fell on her knees and looked at her. “You are unbelievable.” Emily replied and left. “ Emily, Emily.....Emily.” Diana called her but she had ran off. She reached home and went to her room. Henry went to her room. He looked at her while she was crying.” What happened, he asked.” She turned and looked at him unsure whether she could tell him. He sat next to her on her bed. She hugged him and cried as much as she could. Slowly by slowly she fell asleep. Henry looked at his daughter. He felt really sad whenever she cried. Diana stayed at the park seated on the pavement. Whenever she remembered what Emily had said, her heart sinked in tears. She tried so much to forget but she couldn’t. She kept sobbing. Elly and Lilly tried to comfort their mom. Lilly called the driver using her mom’s phone.He came and picked them and took them home. Emily failed to sleep. Some to Diana. The two kept thinking about each other until morning. Emily refused to eat or come out of her room. Henry tried all his best to convince her to eat something but she refused. She was afraid to tell her dad that she had met her mom. She didn’t want to upset him. He had suffered enough she thought. Elly and Lilly gave their mom company. She had also remained in bed the whole day. They tried to cheer her up but all in vain. It took her two days to recover and decided to go and meet Henry and Emily. Henry had a knock on his door. He was surprised because he wasn’t expecting anyone.” Emily,are you expecting anyone.” He asked. “No!” She replied. He went on and opened the door. To his surprise, it was Diana. He grew pale on seeing that it was really her.” May l come in?” She asked. He couldn’t even say a word. He moved aside to let her in. Diana had changed a lot. She was now an expensive lady. He thought. She sat down. And looked around. “ Nice place.”she said. “ thanks,” he replied. They kept looking at each other and smiling. There was no conversation between them. Henry suddenly broke the silence.“ can l get you anything.” “ No..no am actually fine.” She replied. “Am... mm Henry am sorry for everything that happened between you and me. I... l really don’t know what to say, but ...l” before she continued he interrupted. “ Diana it is okay. “You did want you thought was right.”Diana looked at her ex. He was so calm. He put a simple smile on his face while he talked. “ Emily went to the sitting room and found Diana there. “ What is she doing here” she asked her dad with surprise. “ Emily try to behave, okay” he replied. “ How could you let her in, with everything she has done to us. Why are You so calm ,Did she brain wash you?” She yelled. “ Emily am so sorry. “ Diana said while tears were forming in her eyes. She could see the hatred her daughter had for her. “I will never forgive you, l HATE YOU.” She said and stormed out and. Diana felt her heart melt by everything Emily had said. Henry gave her a hug trying to calm her down. Emily ran to Lisa’s house. She went straight to Lisa’s room. Emily narrated everything to Lisa. She felt better after talking to Lisa. Emily thought about her mom. Down in her heart she loved her mom but she never wanted to accept it. Diana kept trying to reconcile with Emily. She bought her expensive gifts. Took her to expensive places. She always tried her best to please Emily but it took time for them to reconcile. With time Emily and Diana started getting along. Emily’s life changed. Her mom gave her everything she needed. She started calling Diana “mum”. This always made Diana happy. The vacation was over and they had to go back to NewYork city. Emily went along with her new family. She felt bad leaving her dad but at least he had somebody to keep him safe. “Rose” Rose was a waitress at a certain pub. She was a lovely lady and she knew she could keep her dad safe. Things had changed for her. She was living the best of her life with her mother, step twin sisters who loved her and a step dad who loved her as well. Most importantly, she was able to smile again after seven years.
