May 15th, 2035 – Journal day: -chasing the God Particle
Throughout the course of human history, the question of the existence of a divine being has sparked profound discussions and contemplation. It stands as a cornerstone of philosophical inquiry, delving into the essence of existence, purpose, and the nature of reality.
Among the great debates lies the question of creation: Did a supreme being fashion the universe, or did it come into being through the mechanisms of the Big Bang theory? Some within the scientific community entertain the notion that both theories may hold merit.
Soon I will embark on a space exploration that could result in finally learning whether the God Particle exists.
May 20th, 2035 – Day 5
I find myself immersed in the pursuit of what some might call the ultimate quest: chasing the God Particle. As a physicist and astrophysicist, my life's work has revolved around unraveling the enigmatic origins of the universe. For me, mathematics and its finite solutions have served as the bedrock of my existence. Yet, amidst this pursuit of knowledge, I remain steadfast in my atheism.
It's a paradox of sorts - delving into the deepest recesses of the cosmos, driven purely by empirical evidence and logical deductions while holding no belief in a divine creator. Nevertheless, my journey is not solitary; it is shared with a cadre of brilliant minds, each contributing their unique perspectives and insights.
Together, we navigate the labyrinthine corridors of theoretical physics, forging new pathways and challenging established paradigms. The quest for the God Particle, the elusive Higgs boson, stands as a testament to our collective endeavor. Decades of meticulous theoretical groundwork, coupled with audacious experimental pursuits, culminated in its momentous discovery at CERN's Large Hadron Collider in 2012.
But our odyssey does not end there. It is a perpetual voyage of exploration, fueled by an insatiable curiosity and an unwavering commitment to uncovering the mysteries of existence. Each hypothesis, every experiment, brings us closer to a deeper understanding of the universe and our place within it.
As I reflect on this journey, I am reminded of the words of Carl Sagan: "Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." And so, with boundless determination and an unyielding spirit of inquiry, we press onward, ever closer to the elusive truths that lie beyond the veil of the cosmos.
May 30th, 2035 – Day 15 Ready to launched
With bated breath, today marks the commencement of a momentous voyage aboard the spacecraft, God's Speed, alongside my esteemed colleagues. Departing from the illustrious SpaceX launch pad in Florida at 0800 hours, we embark on a fifteen-year odyssey destined for the far reaches of the Milky Way. Our singular mission: to unravel the enigma of the God Particle, a pursuit that transcends individual aspirations, offering a glimpse into the profound mysteries of existence.
As I contemplate this adventure, I feel the excitement realizing a dream to be part of something greater than myself, maybe solving one of the greatest mysteries of mankind. There is much trepidation in this venture. What if we fail to launch? what if we die along the way? What if there is nothing beyond the Milky Way?
In order for this exploration to succeed, The inclusion of specialized booster rockets, propelling us beyond the confines of light itself, embodies the pinnacle of human ingenuity—a testament to our relentless pursuit of knowledge, our insatiable thirst for understanding. With each propulsion forward, we inch closer to the precipice of revelation, where the elusive God Particle awaits its unveiling.
This is necessary to act as a particle accelerator similar to that of the Hadro Collider achieved in 2012. The hope is the God Particle will be revealed.
I fear that at the age of 35, knowing it will take 30 years for a round trip, I will die before making it back to earth. Considering this possible outcome, I do not, for one moment, regret going on this adventure. Carpe Diem!! We are off!
June 2nd, 2035 – Passing the moon
As we left Earth, the rocket straining to escape Earth’s atmosphere, the pressure on my body was more than I had expected. It felt as if three people were standing on my chest. I began to panic, the flight engineer, next to me, heard my anxious breathing, reached over to me, and with a deep calming voice, assured me that all was well. He laughed and said, “Enjoy the ride, It is better than an E-ticket in Disney World.”
Shortly after we burst through the Earth’s atmosphere, the engine's thrust diminished. I was in awe at the sight before me. The deep dark expanse of space. Small twinkling stars, the moon shining brightly. As we exited Earth’s gravity, looking to my left I saw the most amazing sight in my life. Earth, is a beautiful sphere of blue and white clouds. It was surreal. A wonderful to begin this adventure.
Looking out of my window, we are passing the moon, its gray mass, pocked with holes created by mediators dropping onto its surface. Smaller than what I had imagined, but still impressive. I suddenly remembered that we had a science colony station on the moon's equator. My friend Elmo Snodgrass, had been assigned as a physicist to the colony “Lunas” the Roman Goddess of the Moon. Before I go to bed, I will try to reach him by radio to see how his adventure is going. He has been in the colony for five months.
I will conclude, hoping that the remainder of the trip will be as smooth as these first few days.
July 17th, 2035 – Passing Mars
As we voyaged past Mars, our eyes caught sight of Solars One, the colony established back in June 2030. Our mission was to deliver crucial supplies designated for the colony's sustenance. However, a minor hiccup threatened to disrupt our plans as the supply ship, docked to the Icarus, found itself unable to uncouple.
With the clock ticking and the possibility of the supply ship remaining tethered to us for the rest of our journey looming ominously, tensions rose. Yet, through perseverance and determination, the crew managed to overcome the technical glitch. After two intense attempts, the supply ship finally broke free and embarked on its return journey to Mars.
May 30th, 2056 – God Particle Chase Begins
Fifteen years have passed in what feels like the blink of an eye, carrying us through a remarkable odyssey across the cosmos. From the unassuming expanse of Jupiter to the breathtaking beauty of Saturn's rings, and the enigmatic depths of Uranus, to the distant realm once called Pluto, now stripped of its planetary status in the annals of early 21st-century astronomy. Each celestial stop, a testament to the wonders and mysteries of our solar system.
But now, as we hurtle through the darkness of interstellar space, the true vastness and desolation of the universe reveal themselves. Amidst the inky void, distant solar systems flicker like distant beacons, teasing with the promise of discovery yet remaining tantalizingly out of reach.
Tonight, as we prepare to breach the cosmic speed of light and confront the enigmatic God Particle, a palpable mix of anticipation and trepidation fills the air. Tomorrow brings the promise of a momentous leap into the unknown, where the very fabric of reality may be challenged. But with resolve forged from the spirit of exploration, we press onward, ready to unravel the secrets that lie beyond the veil of stars. As we traveled closer to our goal, seeing the beauty, wonder and expanse of space, I am beginning to believe that there must be a divine being’s had in this wondrous creation, the cosmos. We shall see tomorrow.
June 1st, 2056 – Beginning or End?
I will attempt to recreate yesterday’s events. It was an inspiring day.
The day began at 0700 as the team gathered for breakfast, a quiet and somber atmosphere enveloping them. Each member sat contemplating their role in the upcoming experiment, a mixture of anticipation and worry etched on their faces. Some had been part of the Hadro project, witnessing failures and the loss of colleagues in the pursuit of understanding the universe, while others held different beliefs about its creation.
Isaac, the team leader, took charge, rallying the group and outlining the step-by-step process for achieving their goal: breaking the barrier of the speed of light. Tasks were assigned, and preparations were made as the clock ticked towards 0900 on June 2nd, 2056.
At the appointed time, Isaac nodded to the pilot, signaling the beginning of their daring journey. A weak smile graced his lips as he whispered, "Here we go."
With the activation of the booster rocket, the team was thrust back into their seats with a force greater than the Earth's liftoff. The pilot announced the increasing speeds as they neared the threshold of light. A strange sensation overcame us as our bodies seemed to warp and stretch, faces contorted in a silent scream. Bright light flooded the cabin, casting a calming blue hue, and a sense of peace washed over us like never before.
In that moment, time seemed to stand still. We were suspended in a timeless void, able to move only our heads, surrounded by a surreal tranquility. The pilot's voice broke the silence, announcing our achievement of surpassing the speed of light. Through the cabin window, we beheld a breathtaking panorama of existence, we saw our lives from birth to the present moment, a sight that felt both humbling and awe-inspiring. I wonder if this is what is seen when we die?
Suddenly, darkness engulfed us, and the vast expanse of space appeared empty, dark and bleak. Absent of life.
Suddenly, a glimmering orb approached, drawing nearer until it hovered just 20 feet from the ship. The team scrambled to analyze the incoming data, revealing unprecedented levels of radiation and energy that could power civilizations for eternity. Speculations ran wild as we contemplated the significance of our discovery, with some daring to suggest it could be the God Particle, the genesis of the universe itself.
In an instant, the tranquility was shattered as the craft shuddered, and we found themselves hurtling back to normal space. Glancing at my watch, I realized only minutes had passed since our departure, despite the profound experiences we had undergone. The encounter had sparked existential questions about the nature of reality and the existence of a higher power, leaving them with more questions than answers. Was this the God Particle? Does God exist?
As I reflect on this journey, I couldn't help but wonder: had we truly glimpsed the divine, or merely scratched the surface of a universe brimming with mysteries yet to be unveiled?
