LGBTQ+ Drama Mystery

My girlfriend and I were reading and I was finishing up. I said, "Hey, are you almost done reading?"

She replied by saying, "Yes, how about we use the restroom before we leave."

"Okay." I replied. We walked through the cozy library into a dark bathroom. It was old and it was weird because the rest of the library was so new. We were finishing up when I heard the front door of the library close and lock. We looked at each other when we realized the library was closed. I said, "Did you hear that too?"

"Y-Yes." she said, sounding terrified.

"Why are you so scared?" I asked.

"I've heard a lot of stories about what goes on at night at this library." she said.

"W-What is that supposed to mean?" I replied

"It means that I'm terrified and we should call the police." she said sternly.

"Don't be like that. I'm sure it's nothing." I said.

"No we are leaving right now!" she yelled.

"S-Stop your scaring me. I've never heard you yell like that before." I said on the verge of crying.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled like that. Let me tell you a story." she said while hugging me.

"O-Okay." I said while stuttering.

"A few years ago this happened to my aunt-" she tried to say.

"Why is the librarian so forgetful about her customers?" I said when I cut her off.

"No one knows." she said.

"Like I was saying this happened to my aunt Luna too. She was reading a book and wanted to use the restroom. The library closed and locked but she was excited to look around during the after hours." She explained.

"Then she started hearing footsteps and books were falling." She continued.

"Then she just called the police to come get her out." She said.

I replied by saying, "Okay how about we stay only for a little bit and see what happens."

"If you insist, but don't say I didn't warn you." She said.

We walked around and just continued reading. We were exploring the back of the library when something caught our eye. It was a notebook that looked torn up. We checked for cameras in the room and we didn't see any so we flipped through it.

"W-What is this?" I asked.

"This is s-so wrong." she replied.

The notebook was talking about different times she purposely left her customers in here because she knew what happened at night.

"How would she know what happens if there aren't cameras?" I asked.

"I'm not sure. How about we do a second sweep of this place to see if there's anything." she replied.

"Okay, I'll continue looking through this and I'll be out there in a minute." I said.

"Okay." she said.

I was looking through the notebook when I saw a log of what looked like dialog. I thought to myself, are there recording devices? I yelled for her but there was no answer. I yelled again thinking she didn't hear me. Still no answer. I ran out there frantically looking for her.

"Babe, where are you?" I yelled.

She yelled back, "I'm at the back door! It's unlocked so we have a way out."

I sighed in relief and I showed her what I found in the journal. She gasped and we started running around looking for these devices. Then we started hearing it all. Pictures were falling off the walls, books were flipping open, and we heard the same footsteps from the bathroom.

"Run!" I screamed.

We started sprinting for the door when it slammed and locked in our face. We tried to open it but it wouldn't budge. We tried calling the police but our phones were both dead. The lights were flickering and eventually turned off. We ran into the back room where we found the journal and held each other in a corner. I saw an outlet with a charger in it and started charging my phone.

"Just in case something happens, I love you." she told me.

"We will make it out, I promise." I assured her while hugging her.

I heard my phone turned on and I called the police.

"911 what's your emergency?" the dispatcher said.

"We are at the library in east downtown. We are locked in here and need help." I told them.

"Okay, what are your names?" they asked.

"My name is Heather and my girlfriend's name is Sarah." I replied.

"Okay we have help coming your way. Please stay on the line until the police get to you." she told us.

"Okay we will." I replied.

We heard the back door slamming shut repeatedly, and books being thrown around. I screamed and Sarah just held me tighter.

"Is everything okay?" the dispatcher asked.

"No, everything is going wrong! Are they almost here?" I asked.

"Yes, you should be hearing sirens by now." she told me.

"Yes, we hear the sirens." Sarah said for me.

"Okay, you can hang up now. Have a good evening." she said.

I hung up and the police came in.

"Where are you guys? It's safe to come out." they said, trying to calm us down.

We walked out holding each other while crying. They looked at us like we were crazy.

"What happened to you two?" an officer asked.

"W-We don't know anymore." Sarah said.

"We found a notebook in this room explaining how the librarian terrorizes people after she locks them in." I said pointing to the room we just came out of.

"Okay, let me see it." the chief said.

I handed it over and he started flipping through it.

"This woman seems absolutely crazy." he said.

"I think we're going to dig a little deeper into this case." the officer said to us.

"Okay, we are going to go home now." I told them.

" That's fine, just give us contact information so we can question you on a later date."

We gave them our phone numbers and we got in our car to go back home. When we got back home we couldn't sleep all night because we were so scared of what happened.

"I'm sorry I made you stay, it was wrong of me." I said.

"Babe it's okay, I know how curious you are." she replied.

We ended up watching movies all night and tried to forget what happened that night but I don't think we ever will.
