As I walked through the orphanage, the sound of children's laughter filled the air. I owned this place and made it my routine to ensure everything was just as it should be. “Mother! I can’t find Sister Selene!” one child called out, and I smiled as I knelt, careful not to stand on my dress. “She is busy, dear! Remember, she has a lot of responsibilities. Now run along and play with the other children!” I was encouraged, watching them dash off with joy. Feeling a sense of happiness, I stood up and headed out to see if I could find either of my two helpers. Upon entering the laundry room, I found them sorting clothes, and I joined in to help as we chatted.

“ Sister Ainsley! Can you be a dear and start cooking supper? I'll be there in a moment as I go and put the clothes away!” I asked her, “ Of Course, Mother!” Ainsley says as she takes her leave, and I take the clothes as I go, put them away, as Sister Selene stays and finishes the rest of the clothes that needed to be folded. I was putting away the clothes as I heard something fall. “ Hello? Sister Ainsley?” I called out but no one answered so I only hum and finished as I go and find what fell and all I could find is a notebook and someplaying cards and I go and put them back and I pushed them off to see if it was the same sound I heard bit it wasnt so I only think as I put it back and went to go finished up supper.

I walked as I went into the kitchen and dismissed my helper, who started it, and I started to get ingredients to make bread as I let the soup cook. Time passed as I hummed a small melody to myself. I put the bread in the oven as I started to chop vegetables for the soup. I was thinking till I heard a child crying, so I put the knife away and went to find wout ho it was, as I was worried. “ My child! It’s alright.” I say as I found who it was and I picked them up as their small arms hug me with tearful eyes. I heard laughter over the weeping of this child that I carry in my arms.

I took a deep breath as I took the child to their room. I gave them their favorite stuffed toy as I left a light on so they could have a small nap before supper, and I went back to the kitchen. I checked the bread, and it still looked to be cooking, so I washed my hands and went back to chopping the vegetables. I zone out as I was cooking. I took the bread out and put a new batch in so I could make sure all my children’s bellies are full. I cooked till it was time, so I brought out the food onto the tables and I started to make everyone's plates as the children watched their hands.

One by one, they all sit down at their assigned seats. Walked around as I saw a few empty sets, and I sighed as I felt sadness since I had forgotten that they had left the orphanages. I picked up the plates and put them away, so if the others are still hungry, I could give them more. The Sisters went and watched the children so they wouldn't throw food or go and start any food fights. I went back to wash the dishes so I could keep myself up as I tried to think about the children.

Some time had passed faster than I had thought, since I didn’t hear the laughter of the children, so I went to check on them. As I did so, the building was silent, and you could hear the wind from the outside. I checked the rooms, and the beds were empty. I then rushed to the other room that should be filled with the other children, but I didn’t see any of them. I soon fell into panic as I ran to find my helpers, but the whole building was empty as I was breathing heavily. Then I heard something outside and I froze, “ No no no!” I said as I went and rushed outside, and I froze in horror.

I cover my mouth as I see the children gutted and their intentions were ripped out as they all line up against the wall like lifeless dolls. I saw blood dripping onto my hand, and I slowly looked up and I saw my two helpers hanging from their intentions rapping around there necks. I wanted to scream, but no words came out as I felt something else with me as I heard twigs snapping. I just stood there as tears fell from my eyes, as I felt breathing on the back of my neck. It was hot, and it was breathing heavily.

I felt something grab my arm as it turned me, and I could see that it was red, looking to be a creature with nothing but muscle and its skin ripped off with glowing white eyes. “ WhY yOu LoOk ScArEd? We HaD a DeAl DiD wE nOt? A lIfE fOr A lIfEs!” It said as I felt goosebumps run up my body, and nothing but fear as I thought as I stared at it. “ Kill me,” I mumbled It smiling as I could smell rotten flesh. With one swift move, I felt myself get cut. I looked down as I saw my organs, the steam of my hot insides as I fell.

I watched It rip the rest of it out, questioning how I was still alive as I felt my life slipping away into the hands of heaven. I closed my eyes as I heard nothing; it was silence, not even a single sound could be heard. I was scared as I felt my body fall into the darkness. To never be seen or heard of again. Like a legend of a victim that could never be found.
