This year’s spring festival began with a silly costume race where we dressed up as our favourite characters and partook in lots of events. Not only were there the simple running races and hurdles but also blindfolded three legged sprints and two persons sack races. It was exhaustingly fun. We competed in teams that consisted of our class members, my class is the best no matter what others say as we have the biggest will to win. In the middle we had a celebratory banquet or feast if you will. The feast brought lots of speeches and singing, I suppose a talent show of sorts. A feast of laughter is how I would have described it. Afterwards, we set fireworks to fill the darkened sky with light and colour. I loved the part when we released Chinese lanterns into the sky in hope that our wishes come true.

To end the evening a bonfire was lit, the band played upbeat songs and the teachers let loose and popped out some booze, which the students obviously stole too. Couples gathered around the fire and swayed to the beat of the music.

"Aurora. What are you thinking so intensely?" Maria, a friend of mine, handed me a glass of a foul-smelling liquidised substance.

"Not much." I tipped the glass and consumed its contents in one go. It burned horrendously sending me into a coughing fit.

"Will you dance with me?" She giggled, already heavily under influence.

"Of course, kind sir." I curtsied and played along.

The dancing wasn't so bad until she started tripping over her own feet and nearly fell into the fire pit. I couldn't help but notice a familiar pair of eyes burning into the back of my head. I pushed my thoughts to the side and helped Maria sit down behind the group of people, away from the teachers. I got her water as she seriously needed rehydration then I phoned her brother to come take her home since she was now passing out on the grass.

"Wood Wight Wauroah" Maria made out her mouth as she was bridle carried to her brother’s car.

"Good night Maria" I gently kissed the top of my friend’s head.

I sat with another group of friends playing two truths, one lie. You have to guess which is the lie to win, it's quite fun actually learning weird interesting things about other people. One by one, they left. To dance to the slower songs the band had started soothing our ears with. I noticed that they were all couples except one boy. He was tall, lean and had midnight black

hair. What struck out to me the most were his unique eyes, heterochromia it is called. The bright aqua blue blended smoothly into a hazel brown. I didn't realise this whole time I observed him, he was looking right back at me. Immediately I turned my attention to Sarah who just got up with her partner.

"Aurora is it?" She smiles. "I'm Sarah"

"Yes. Nice to meet you." I smile back, not wanting to point out to another drunk person that we did the introductions earlier.

"Leon and I are going to go dance, there's only a few songs left. Why don't you join us" She scanned for a potential partner but there was only one left who was already staring at us. "Harry! In return for that favour I did, will you dance with my sweet friend Aurora! Thanks!"

"It's okay, you don't have to." I became nervous. It was so sudden. I looked down at my fingers. If I said that I didn't want to dance with him, I'd be lying. He was just so attractive. It made my insides tingle.

“May I have this dance?” The sound of his deep voice made me catch my breath. For a moment I was speechless, still processing what was happening. “How about it?” He held out his hand.

“Um… Sure.” Embarrassed at my response, I slipped my small hand into his large one and followed the direction he led. He didn't tug or pull. The way he led me; it was as if I was floating on air.

I wasn't sure what to do, so I copied the other people around us and put my hands lightly on his shoulders as his palms placed themselves on my waist, dangerously close to my hips. The strange thing was that I didn't mind. My heart wasn't rejecting it, nor was my head and definitely not my body. We swayed through the music perfectly. His grip got stronger and so did mine. My surroundings began to fade and all I could focus on was him. His touch, his warmth, his gaze upon my skin.

I found some courage and looked directly into his beautiful eyes. I couldn't look away even when the music ended, and people were beginning to leave.

I don't want the night to end.

"Neither do I" He spoke. That's when I realised, I was thinking aloud.

"Do you want to do this again sometime?" I blushed profoundly.

"Of course." He breath tickled my nose deepening the redness of my cheeks.

Harry walked me to my car and after exchanging phone numbers, he gently kissed me on the cheek goodbye. But I wanted more. I pulled the collar of his shirt down so our noses would almost touch, and we naturally leaned it. However, we were startled by the beep of a horn before anything could happen. My cousin mocked us inside the car, even when he knew this was my first kiss. I had enough of being the prude/ innocent, so I smashed my lips onto Harry’s. He instantly responded, returning the same passion and fire that burned within me.

The End.

Neither do I" He spoke. That's when I realised, I was thinking aloud.
