Crime Drama Thriller

The kettle on the stove whistled and steamed as I walked across the room and turned it off. I slowly and carefully poured myself a cup of boiling tea.

"Hey do you guys want any?" I asked my friends sitting at the dinner table.

Steven, Gabrielle, and James despised tea. I wasn't sure why I asked. They said no and went back to their game of cards. I sighed and turned away from them, putting the kettle in the fridge.

I sat down at the table with my mug of cooling tea, and picked up my cards. A few games later, one by one, my friends went home.

When I heard the click of the door shutting as Steven left my apartment, I took notice that everyone else was gone. I picked up my rucksack I had hidden under the couch and walked back into the kitchen. I opened the window and crawled out onto the exit stairs and walked up the steep and rusty metal stairs. As I reached the top step, I pulled out a metal spider like thing attached to a long rope.

I tossed the rope onto the neighboring building and tugged to make sure it was safe to climb. I tied the other end of the rope to the guard rail and slowly climbed on top of the rope. I nimbly but slowly tip toed to the other side. No one below noticed because no one thought to look up. I reached the other side and opened the window of my neighbor.

I creeped inside and saw that whoever lived here had a lot of valuables. I grabbed all of them and put them in my rucksack. I crawled back out the window and across the rope. I untied the rope and walked back into my house.

I almost had a heart-attack when I saw Steven watching me with his mouth gaping open as he had just watched the whole thing. For a moment, we just started at each other until he pulled out his phone. I quickly snatched it and tossed it out the window onto the street.

"Hey! That was brand new!" screamed Steven as he ran to the window.

He turned to face me. Before he could beat me as he was much bigger than I was, I roundhouse kicked him unconscious. I used the grapple hook to tie him to the chair. I pulled out the tea from the fridge. I put it in a mug and put it under the unconscious Steven's nose.

He shot straight up and looked around. He started yelling and screaming. I got the duct tape from the living room and taped his mouth as fast as I could. He started really panicking and kicked the mug out of my hands.

It flew towards the wall and shattered all over the floor. The broken glass shards went into every room of the apartment. I could see Steven trying to reach and grab a shard of glass beneath his chair. I kicked the glass aside with my shoe and went to get my broom to sweep the glass. I had just pulled out the broom when I heard a thump from the dining room. I walked back into the kitchen saw Steven reaching for the glass. He managed to grab it and started cutting the grappling rope. I swiftly grabbed the glass and tied Steven hands. I swept away Steven's chance to escape. I kicked him softly but quickly. Steven groaned beneath the tape and stayed quiet. A few hours later, Steven fell asleep. I picked him off the chair after untying him. I threw him into the closet and locked the door.

A few hours after my discovery by Steven, the sun began to come up. I panicked and took the unconscious Steven onto the roof. I threw him now into the shed. The impact woke him up. He started saying something sly under the tape. I didn't hear him. He took notice of that and shut up.

I closed and locked the door with a padlock. I walked downstairs, put on my coat as it was a chilly day, and left the apartment. As walked down the street of my building, I shuddered to think of what might happen if someone found Steven. He'd probably blabber-mouth my name and to call the cops on me. I was so engrossed in my own thoughts I bumped into someone.

"Hey watch it!" yelled the man still walking away.

Getting my head out of the clouds, I made my way to work. I walked through the revolving door and into the bank. I went to my desk and sat down. I picked my file work and pen, and began to work. The day went by as normal until I got home. James was sitting at my table with Gabrielle. They had a concerned look on their faces. I walked up to them and sat down.

"Steven is missing." said James still looking concerned.

"What?!" I said trying to look surprised.

It worked well enough for them to believe me.

"Yeah..." said Gabrielle, her face drooping.

I went to the fridge and got out the last of the tea, three mugs, and poured everyone a cup.

I passed them round to all three of us. They drank the tea. Too depressed to ask for something else. We all looked at each other, swapping eye contact. Then, James grabbed the cards and we played Solitaire until 11:35 at night.

James slid out in the middle of the dealing of Go Fish. Gabrielle was gone at the end of the game. I looked through the peephole to see everyone lights were off in the hallway. I made two sandwiches. One for me, one for Steven.

I walked up to the roof and opened the padlock, fed him the sandwich and a glass of water, and locked the lock again, and went back downstairs. It went on that way for a few months until I let him go and threatened his life is he told anyone. Then, life went back to normal.

I wrote this book along the way, so it isn't very good. It's also my first time posting here. So, enjoy!
