“Where to?” She slides her finger on her phone as it pulls up a green hologram of a map of the forest.

“My guy says there have been sightings of an individual with fire like abilities at these three locations.” Three red dots appear at different locations.

“This could be where she frequently goes, maybe she’s staying somewhere near those dots.” I say as she puts her phone away making the hologram disappear. She claps her hands together as her suit’s neon lights become brighter.

“I’ll be our flashlight.” She says giving me a thumbs up.

“Sorry, that sounded better in my head.” She says as she chuckles. I thought it was kinda cool.

We begin walking through the forest, as we hear birds chirping which echoes through the forest. Cicadas buzzing as they welcomed the nearing night. I pass my hands on some leaves that were reaching out from a low branch. We then hear heavy footsteps nearby; we both take cover behind some trees.

“We found them ma’am! The squad we sent out weeks ago!”

“Let me guess, burnt to a crisp?”

“Yes ma’am, except for one. He ran off after the anomaly.”

“That bastard is going to get himself killed. Leave him be, we’ll regroup and wait for new orders. I don’t want to deal with an agitated anomaly, especially one this powerful.”

           “Yes ma’am.”

“I think they’re gone.” I say as I move closer to Amelia.

“That brunette really cares for her men.”

“You could see her?” Of course, she could, she has eyes idiot!

“Yeah, she’s not important right now. We need to go see what’s going on with Yara.” I get goosebumps at the sound of her name.

           “Yeah, right behind you.”

“We’re going to pick up the pace from here on, okay?” She says smiling with excitement, I nod my head. We begin running through the forest as we start to see burnt up soldiers. The awful smell of burnt flesh is nauseating as we run past the bodies.

Out of the corner of my eye I then see someone leaping at us. They land in between me and Amelia as we both jump away from them. I lock eyes with them and see the same light brown eyes from all those years ago. Half of her body had flames engulfing her. Her black hair moving as if it had a mind of its own. Her tan skin not even affected by the flames. I can feel the scorching heat from where I stand, it was her, my sister.

“Yara it’s me! Emmanuel!” Her eyes didn’t see me, as if she’s blinded by rage right now. She leaps towards me yelling, as she leads with her fist full of flames. I wave my hands just above her fist as she got close enough and pushed it away.

“Emma! Don’t use your telekinesis too much! You know what’ll happen!” Amelia says as she runs to cover me.

“Cover your eyes!” I notice she’s about to clap her hands again like earlier. I quickly raise my arms over my eyes as I see a blinding light appear for 2 seconds. I look ahead to see Amelia fighting Yara. Yara throwing so many flame filled fists at her, but none are landing. I run towards the two summoning telekinetic energy at the sole of my feet launching myself towards Yara. As I get closer to her, I swipe my energy filled hand by hers forcing it away from Amelia. She looks up at me as I take my stance with my palms by my face and my feet in an L shape just like my parents taught me. The energy from my hands glows a purple hue. I can only transfer energy to three parts of my body, I need to be careful.

“Yara, what’s going on with you?” I say as she growls as none of the words faze her. She runs towards me throwing jabs and kicks landing nothing. I transfer the energy to my feet as I jump and attempt to kick her, she sees my attack and grabs my right leg. Next thing I feel is my back slamming into the rocky floor. Vision go black for a second as I then feel Yara’s fist slam into my stomach making me cough up blood. The metallic taste overwhelmed my tongue, I couldn’t help but smile at this point. I stand to see Amelia fighting Yara again. Pulse.

“Damn it!” I say as I run towards them again.

“Amelia! This doesn’t happen randomly! There has to be a reason she went berserk!”

“Stay out of this Em-!” Amelia is cut off by a flame fist strike to the side of her face, sent flying as she makes impact with a tree as dust and debris fills her surroundings. You can do this, no you can’t! You’re going to mess up again, you’ll save everyone!

“Wake up Yara!” I say as I show up behind her summoning energy to the palms of my hands as I place both on her back. I can use my power to gather special energy anywhere I see or feel on my body. I need propel or move up to a certain speed to be able to keep up with her. You taught me this sis. I gather a load of energy in a split second and release it all from my hands as it sends her flying several feet back. She struggles to get up, but still lit up like a bonfire. I then jump back a couple feet landing on the side of a standing tree. Feet planted I keep the energy pushing my body up as I stare at her. Yara stands and turns to face me, the cuts on her face begin too slowly close. Could she always do that? Pulse.

“You taught me this too! Don’t you remember!?” I propel myself towards her as I do my knee connects with her chin; I follow up with a kick to her side as she looks hurt but still stands. She rushes towards me throwing fire at me as I manage to throw them back with my energy filled hands. Pulse.

Does her mind go blank when this happens? We need to finish this before people come back to find her. I begin landing some hits, some of her flames reach the bottom of my pant legs, and the side of my shirt. It hurts real bad, but we can get through this. I land one kick to her face and notice her eyes go from enraged to a blank expression. I go in for one final attack as I raise my palm up to her face until I hear,

“Emmanuel…” My body froze in place. Her flames dial down to a quiet consistent crackling. Her soft quiet voice has reaches that went as far back to when I was a toddler. Her face is then engulfed in flames as she jumps so fast kicking me in the face. I feel myself hit a tree as a sharp pain races through my back. I touch my cheek as I feel a cut bleeding.

“Yara! It’s me! Your little brother! I need you!” I check my surroundings to see if Amelia’s nearby for backup, she’s not. There ya go, looking for help, never able to help your damn self. GROW UP EMMA! WEAK! WEAK!

“SHUT UP!” As my scream cracks and hurts my throat in the process I can feel my powers pushing Yara back along with the trees and boulders. My scream subsides but my powers don’t. From behind Yara Amelia jumps dashing towards her, Yara then turns around grabbing her by her face as slamming her into the ground making a crater. My powers subside now as well, as Yara’s flames grow higher off her back. Her right hand still on Amelia’s face… Amelia struggles as she is able to push her hand back only a little further… my friends face… I’m frozen? Why can’t I move? MOVE DAMN IT! YOU CAN SAVE HER! I see Amelia’s eyes lock with mine. Is she crying?

Yara’s hand then begins to slowly light up, as she touches the side of Amelia’s cheek… My friends scream follow… I begin running, as far away as I can, tears randomly flowing down my cheeks. See? You’re useless, your Papa was wrong about you, no! Papa told me I could be someone.

Why can’t things go back to normal? Well, it was never normal, someone was always not with us, even when things were quiet.

My foot hits a root as my face lands flat on the ground, I feel something warm in my nose. It’s blood, great, Yara didn’t break my nose, but the floor did. I sit up on my knees as I start driving my fists into the ground.

“Why am I like this!? Weak Emma! WEAK! PATHETIC! IDOTA! What would Mama say?” I let out a couple of screams even as my throat feels raspy. The cut on my face burns, like a massive paper cut. My left arm feels like it’s being squeezed harder and harder every time I move. I try to stand as the pain in my chest causes my breathing to halt. I suddenly feel a hand on my cheek where the cut was as it slowly closes. She brings her palm and places it at the center of my chest, I was able to inhale and let the air in as she took the pain away. My suit ripped at the legs of my pants, and my chest revealing a ripped shirt. I look up to see Yara with small embers radiating all over her. She then grabs my nose as if I was a child. Her hand glows as embers flow around us. She then sits down and places her hand over my scar. I feel a weight is being lifted off of my powers, like if I’m being recharged.

           “Hola Hermano.”
