A long time ago there lived the Magei, a secret society of magic users who hid amongst the shadows. One of the magic users was Finn, princess of the Magei. Her power was said to be stronger than any other, but she could barely make a spoon float off the table. she felt ashamed that she couldn't use magic like others could. It didn't help that everyone looked to her as a Goddess and powerful sorceress. one day while wandering the outskirts, she came across a woman commanding the flowers to bloom. She was the most beautiful woman the princess had ever seen.
"How did you do that?" the princess asked. The woman was shocked to see who had snuck up behind her.
"Your majesty! I'm sorry, I know were not suppose to do magic out in the open but the flowers were so beautiful and I just wanted to-" the woman rambled.
"what's your name? the princess asked, ignoring the ramblings.
"Sofia- Sofia Azele, please your majesty, I wont do it again" the woman replied.
"can you teach me?" Finn asked.
"to.. bloom flowers?" Sofia asked.
"to use magic" Finn replied. Sofia let out a small laugh, believing the princess was joking, but her smile quickly faded when she realized the princess was not joking.
"but you're the most powerful magic wielder in existence, what could I possibly teach you that you don't already know?" Sofia asked. The princesses face turned red and she stared down at the tulips.
"I cant- I don't know how" Finn replied in shame. Sofia's eyes lit up.
"but you are- hmm, neverminded all that. I'm not sure i'm the one you'd want to teach you, I am not as powerful as half the Magei here, you're better off having someone else teach you" Sofia said, and then turned back to the flowers.
"Please" Finn pleaded, placing her hand on Sofia's shoulder. a sharp zap came from her hand.
"Ow!" Sofia yelped and pulled away. Finn's face went pale.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean- that's.. never happened before" Finn said, backing away slowly.
"its fine, your majesty, I- I will be fine" she winced.
"I shouldn't have come here.." Finn said, turning away.
"No, that shock was strong.. powerful.. I would like to teach you" Sofia said, standing up weakly.
"oh thank you!" Finn exclaimed, hugging Sofia. As the two came together, a bright light beamed from their chests, intertwining. Finn and Sofia stared at each other in awe before turning away and blushing. Over the next few weeks, Finn practiced her magic, each day it became stronger, but it was nowhere near as strong as it was told to be. The only time her magic was strong, was when her emotions were involved. Sofia was fascinated by the intricacies of Finns power, so naturally she began testing different emotions and seeing how they linked to her magic source.
"close your eyes, and envision what I say" Sofia said. Finn huffed.
"this is stupid" she said, but Sofia shushed her.
"c'mon, just do it" she said.
"fine, but this is ridiculous" Finn replied, closing her eyes. Sofia took a deep breath before reciting a spell quietly to herself, and then began speaking.
"you walk into the forest, and come across a deer. It looks at you and readies to flee, but stops when it looks into your eyes. you can see into the deer's soul, and it yours. The two of you become one, and you can feel its every emotion" Sofia started. through Finn's eyes, she could see the deer, feel its heart beat. It felt so real, that Finn shed a single tear.
"you walk to the deer and place your hand on its fur, petting it gently. It cuddles close to you, rubbing its face against yours. You can read its thoughts, and how much it loves you. You had only just met, but you could feel several lifetimes worth of friendship, this feeling however would not last. A hunter appears, looking for its next target. He eyes the dear and readies his gun" Sofia says. Finn's eyebrow is furrowed.
"you stand to defend it, but he pushes you to the ground. he lifts his gun and bang! the deer collapses to the ground."
"No!" Finn screams as a powerful blast of fire comes from her hands, and smashes a hole through the next three buildings. Sofia's eyes fill with fear, but she shakes her head and runs to comfort Finn. she holds her in her arms as Finn sobs violently.
"its not real, the deer isn't real" Sofia says, rocking her back and forth.
"I could feel it, it was real, it was right there!" Finn cried out.
"it was just a spell, I used it to try and bring your powers out, and it worked!" Sofia exclaimed, but her story had been too real for Finn to bear.
"I need to go, I'm sorry, I need to be alone" Finn said before running off. she ran to the field where she had first met Sofia, and then went into the woods. she looked around for where she had been in her dream. She looked around, but she couldn't find it. She wanted to find the deer, maybe save its life, but mostly she wanted to make that hunter pay for what it had done. she fell over sobbing, until she saw a deer wander close to her. She looked into its eyes, hoping to feel that same connection, but the deer's eyes were just black and empty.
"it wasn't real, it wasn't real" she repeated to herself. she looked at her hands, and fire appeared. she looked up at the deer, and it nodded at her before hopping away into the bushes. Suddenly rain started pouring, harder and faster than it ever had before. she could feel in her heart that she had caused the storm. As she stood in the falling rain, she smiled. She would be the greatest Magei the world had ever known.
