A girl walked along the edge of the water. It was a cold, dark morning. The sky was so foggy she could barely see her hands in front of her. She knew it was unsafe, unsafe to walk near the ocean at this time of morning. At 3 am. But she didn't care. Lately her nightmares and hallucinations were getting so bad that she did not sleep. She hadn't slept at all, not even had a nap in 3 days for fear of those nightmares that seemed so real. She could feel the needles and probes slashing her skin, making her wail, scream and cry. But nobody cared, they just watched her, watched her screaming in pain, begging them to stop. Then it would disappear, but wherever the needle and knives and probes had slashed her skin in the nightmare, she would always feel the pain one she woke up. She would wake, still screaming, still crying. The audience had disappeared, and so did the probe and knives. But the pain would not go, it would haunt her, and it would hurt her, it was killing her. Star sighed. She knew that those were nightmares, that they were hallucinations, but she knew that nightmares would stop hurting as soon as you wake up, or at least that was for normal people. Star was not a normal person. It wasn't just because of the way she acted, or her painful nightmares, she was not normal because of what she was made up with. Flesh, bones, fat, and...and wires. Star was not fully human, but she was not fully mechanical either. She was right I'm the middle. Half of her was metal, and made of wires. No one noticed she was made of wires. The doctors had made sure to make her metal side look as real as possible, to assure she would not draw mean stares or rude comments. That was the only thing that doctor had done that she was ok with, she was not jumping up and down to say yes to it, she was just ok with it. Star had walked the full trail along the ocean which led back to her house. Star walked to her front porch. Sitting on the chair of the porch was a handsome young man with blonde hair, blue eyes, and the such an amazing smile. Star stared, realization filling her mind. She felt hot tears run down her cheeks, and made a muffled noise and ran inside.
"Star, please wait!", the man whom had been on the chair got up, his face folded into guilt and sympathy.
"Star!", the man grabbed hold of her wrist and pulled her down towards him, away from the stairs.
"Let me go! Let me go! Please John!", she cried trying to wrench her hand away from him. She knew it was useless, John was built of muscles. But to her surprise, he let her go, gently.
"You left me! You left me here by myself! You've killed me, by leaving me! The nightmares have gotten so much worse after-", she sobbed even more and fell to the floor, still sobbing.
"Star...please your killing yourself!.", John said, his eyes were filled with worry.
"How long have you not slept for?", he asked softly.
She looked up with him, and looked into those deep blue eyes. sHe shook her head and looked back down again. "3 days.", she mumbled.
"Star, we need to get you to sleep, please!", he said franticly.
"No.", she said, but sleep was already overtaking her. She put her head against John and drifted off to sleep. The next thing she knew, she was being set on a doctor's table in a doctors lab. The only difference between a normal doctors lab and this lab was here, there was an audience of 50 people or so sitting in chairs around her. The doctor was explaining something, explain how he could change a human into metal, or half human half metal. No one cared that the girl on the table was a human, a human with a mind and a brain, she was a living thing, not some toy to be played with. Star felt herself screaming as the doctor adjusted his glasses and started pointing a knife towards her. This was always the worst part. He would cut off one arm and one leg on the same side, then her torso, to give way for the metal body. She screamed, and she didn't stop, not even after John had woke her up, until finally she did.
"Think.", John said, "Imagine that the doctor has already finished that part, think about a part less painful.", he said as she fell asleep to the sound of his words. This time the doctor was in the process of attaching the metal half body to her half body. Of course she was still hurting, but she wasn't in as much pain as before, this was after the doctor had given her pain killers, so she wouldn't pass out. She was still screaming, Throughout the whole surgery she screamed, and begged him to stop. He would just ignore her and continue on. This time she awoke, crying, but not screaming. She looked at John, he smiled,
"Much better!", he said, embracing her in a big hug. She drifted off again. This time she was at the part in which the doctor added the prosthetic limbs. She was screaming here to, but not from pain. The pain had worn off because of the strong pain killers. She was screaming because the doctor had taken her against her will and had treated her like a doll, ready to be played and tampered with. She knew what was going to happen next, it was her favorite part of the whole surgery. The doctor had just finished attaching her prosthetic arm to her prosthetic torso, and was starting on her prosthetic leg. She slashed the the straps that held her down with her newly made prosthetic arm and punched the doctor in the face. He staggered back, his eye swollen and black. He immediately recovered, telling the audience that this was a minor set-back and he was used to it. It was a lie. She knew he had never been punched in a face when performing these procedures on the people. The doctor ordered a few people to get chains instead of straps to chain her arms back to the chair. It didn't matter, she was happy she succeeded in harming the doctor. This time when the girl awoke, she wasn't screaming or crying, but she wasn't happy either.
"Your getting better at this", John said.
"Now maybe think...of when we...met.", John said looking a little shy.
She smiled, she knew that John had just cured her nightmares. She knew she may still be half metal, but that didn't change the fact that John loved her, just the way she was.

Sweet story! The emotions of Star are well-captured and the introduction of John into the story is a nice touch. There were some grammatical mistakes but that did not detract from the story, which flowed smoothly along. Also, would you mind checking out my story if it's not too much trouble? Thanks and good luck
