This is a story of one of my friend who was doing training of commercial pilot .He faced one of the plane crash incident but luckily he was one of the survivor who is still alive to tell entire incident and now value his life even more.
During training of commercial pilot ,pilots have to do cross country flights that means flying from 100 nautical miles out of their base . So the story begins when on 17 th april around 7:30 pm they started their flying from Ahmedabad ,India to go to to their base dhule. It was a six seater multiengine piper seneca pa34 . Thus the seating capacity was of six people, four backseat ,one copilot and one pilot in command,so my friend was copilot. Well there are two great aviation sayings ,"There is no such thing as an emergency takeoff" and "Better be up on ground really wishing you were up there than to be up the there really wishing you had stayed on ground. These followings are the good sayings for the pilot who are overconfident or for at least the pilots who are not grasping the gravity of the situation. Same happened that time as according to the flight regulations pilots should check fuel on board according to the flight regulations before takeoff ,so did the student and told their instructor who was PIC that fuel is insufficient to commence the flight and will not be able to reach their destination but sometimes you feel that you are smart enough that if you will go against safety precautions you will safely make your way out and the other four person onboard were also students so no one had courage to go against their flight instructor ,so the flight begins and as it was the night time and a flight of almost three an half hours, four students who were back seated fall asleep as they were confident enough of their instructor who was ex airforce trainer having experience of almost 2000 hours. Flight was almost smooth with good weather but near to a village towards their base due to fuel starvation at one point both engines were shut down. That time instructor or
PIC{pilot in command} realized that now it is a situation of do or die and my friend that is copilot of that flight started counting his precious moments of life an he was remembering his parents an closed ones he loved a lot because somewhere he accepted that now this day can be his last day of his life . Till then PIC already grasped the gravity of the situation .when they were near to dhule about 40 km away ,aircraft started developing snag due engines were shut but PIC could have managed to fly to dhule but there was great risk of crashing a village en route ,so he decided to force land at 10:30 pm in a field and avoid villages .As he was a very experienced pilot ,his presence of mind that time was great .As soon as he realized that they cannot make a safe approach towards base and have to land in a field he started with all the emergency procedures that is forced landing when engines are failed which a pilot learn during training by shutting of engines intentionally a a means of practice .So he initiated landing procedure and made a belly landing in a field . He was so experienced that his belly landing was also not rough and the students sleeping back seat did not even realized that it was emergency till the last impact of their belly landing .Thus landing was one in such a manner that none of the students has serious injuries and villagers were also saved but PIC and copilot got minor injuries so they were rushed to rural hospital and till landing aircraft was also in good condition but as it was landed in a village due to loud bang noise all villagers were gathered and as nowadays people instead of helping other people give importance to their entertainment so all villagers after looking an aircraft all came over wing in excitement a started taking selfies and wing structure could not take up too much load due to much stress so as a result wings were damaged. Then police was informed and other students were taken safely to their base. That time aircraft got damaged to some extent but later aircraft maintenance engineers repaired it and that aircraft became serviceable and is still in use ,but that incident for sure is one of the haunted experience of my friends life and now he values his life more and try to live his life to full extent and his perspective towards life has changed for sure and now also when he recall that incident he gets goosebums and now also follows flight regulations. Though travelling by airplane is consider as a safe means of transport but while flying if rules and regulations are not followed than it can lead to disaster and he got to see one more incident in his own flying club as for sure these training days are the golden days of a pilot's life but that does not mean they can perform stunts in air,so basically they were having a river nearby to their school so on purpose of fun and showing off one of his friend went too low to the river they often go that low and wash aircrafts wheels and come back and that day some fisherman were also there in their boat so as a means of showing off he in front of them took aircraft too low trying to wash wheels but actually that day flow of river was high so when he went that low waves came in opposite direction and forced the aircraft into the river and once aircraft started going into river all the controls of aircraft stops functioning, he tried a lot to move aircraft nose upwards but all his attempts went in vain and he drowned .After six months his skull was found as it is in his sitting position in aircraft ,this incident shocked all the students and became another haunting memories of their lives ,after that flight safety rules became very strict and again all students realized importance of their lives.
