Sad

Both were looking through the window to the rising sun. The rays from the sun have started to brighten the room. It would be really nice if the sun brighten everybody's day and life. Bona has gone far thinking here and there as he was sitting on the couch which was placed in a close also fair distance from the window of a normal sized room. The room carries a bed, couch, chair and a very small shelf.

“Oh, so it is morning!” said Bona’s mother as she laid on her back, starring at the window. Bona, startled and recalling his mother’s voice turned his face to her. Opening his mouth widely, he yawns and stretched out his arms to feel relaxed, the couch he spent the night on, seems to exhaust him. Glooming his face with a smile he headed to his mother, laying on her bed which is two steps from his couch. He kissed her on the forehead and said ”Yes , it is called morning. And good morning, mom. How was your night?” he asked, without a change on his face.

“Good morning! Good, I slept well.” She replied.

”Ok then, let me go out and get something.” smile on his face hasn’t changed until he turned away from his mother and reached the door.

Bona is sitting on a bench. These days, old memories are coming to him. These days he is missing the joys and laughs he used to have. He is regretting that he grew up and he really wishes to go back. He doesn’t hate today but he is afraid of tomorrow. Standing on today he is scared that tomorrow will take away all the happiness of yesterday. What if something he really is scared of happens? What if the only precious thing in his life won’t be there anymore? What kind of life is it going to be? There is nothing called ‘wish’, there won’t be hope that energize the desire to live. Life won’t have a meaning then. He took a deep breath and wished tomorrow will be better.

“I am back.” Said Bona as he entered the room where his mother was. He grabbed his mother’s hand who is still on her bed and gazed at her with affection for minutes, until the door was knocked and someone came in. “Hello, How are you?” said the person.

”Hello, doc. Good. How are you?” both mother and son replied. It was a doctor who came to see how his patient was doing. Bona’s mother had been in a hospital for months. She had a very complicated case. That took too long for treatment. But she was getting better and was recovering well, her conditions felt normal for longer than it used to be. She was on different medications which were really helping her. It‘s just that Bona felt bad seeing his mother on hospital beds for long.

It really is a blessing to have someone you could say “That person is mine!” and to have someone that you trust more than yourself which give you a courage and confidence to tell “They have my back no matter what!”

Whenever the question “What is your weakness?” is raised, always his answers were” Well, both my strength and weakness is my mom.” Just a smile on her face could make him live forever. Her tears are unbearable. She raised him alone, she have always been a single mom. Even if they were two their entire life, home felt like living in a large family. His mother is his live.

Bona was sitting on a root of large tree. The root protrudes from the ground and was exposed it was large enough to let two people sit comfortably. As he was sitting there and taking in the fresh air surrounding the environment, something came up. Once Bona and his mom had a wedding to attend, they both got dressed and prepared. Bona had already finished and was ready to go. So he went to see his mom. As knocked and entered her room, from his appearance, it was easy to tell that he really was shocked. His mouth are open, eyes were in disbelieve, hearts beating and not sure if he was breathing. He saw his mom with that beautiful long, black and shiny dress and with really cute heels. That dark hair of hers, are brought to one side, laid on her shoulders, so the other side of her shoulders are exposed. Her necks are shining with a thin necklace that Bona bought her on her birthday. She had no makeups, just a little brown lipstick on her lips. Bona stood still for minutes.

“Oh my God! You still recognized me right. Like, that I am your mom?” said his mom, smiling. He had not responded, so she felt like she had to say something again. ”Honey, Are you ok?” she reached him and hold his hands.

“Oh! mom...wow. Aaaaa… You look amazing.” Her hands brought him back. It has been a long time since he saw her like that, beautifully dressed.

“You thought you get to see your dream girl right?” giggling, squeezed his cheeks and she went back to get her purse. He was shy so he turns his eyes away, smiling.

His eyes travelled long, upwards and he saw a moon shinning in the dark sky along with so many stars. Bona and his mom used to came here. Tears are falling fast with a large volume from his eyes. “Son…” said his mother,” Son, you know days are bright because of the sun right? We clearly see where we are and it easy think of where to go because of the light. Hopes are everywhere. But during nights when there are no lights, no hopes on your road, look upwards ok. There are moon and stars to guide you. They will brighten your way. They will give you hopes to live. There is always the way out from the above and on the ground, some will help you see and get strong by reflecting off the lights and hopes you get from above. And remember when you are happy I am the happiest. When you are sad and when you are crying that breaks my heart. My happiness depends on yours. Don’t you dare to lose that smile from your face, ok? Don’t you dare!” It was the last thing his mother said to him and before it gets harder for her to speak, with a weak voice. Sometimes everything seemed normal and fine the other times it’s not good, unpredictability is tough. She couldn’t make it. She has gone long, not to return.

Bona desperately misses his mother. As he sat, his eyes reached for the moon. He closed his eyes and took in that one, long breath and poured tears on his cheek, residing in his eyes. And said, “Guide me. I am lost. Let me live so mom could, through me.” And exhaled the sorrow he carried for long. He took his eyes away from the moon and placed it on the lake. Bona smiled because of what he saw and said, ”Wow mom, wow. I guess the lights and hopes are reflected.” he laughed for the first time after he sent his mom long, because he saw the moon reflecting off the lake.
