Are you coming tonight? I had half of the dozen people still here. They were like images! You could see them quite clearly but they were invisible. They wanted to know how much I could get done? Working a regular job and being a singing star?

I said ¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨´´I will let the band members take care of that. They know all about singing stars!¨

All morning I had a song stuck in my head! It goes “Hey Jude” like that old Beatles song?! Remember Paul McCartney?

“Hey Jude”

¨¨¨¨Hey Jude, don’t make it bad.

Take a sad song and make it better.

Remember to let her into your heart,

Then you can start to make it better.

Hey Jude, don’t be afraid.

You were made to go out and get her.

The minute you let her under your skin,

Then you begin to make it better.¨

I really like that song. I felt like an introduction will be part of my game. All the people disappeared. I felt my introduction did them in. Oh well! I knew my backup songs with giving me some insight on what´s to come. I could sing with Paul, his words backing mine up were tremendous! Like hands mouthing words. 👏

I knew there were only two Beatles left. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

John Lennon died on December 8, 1980. He was a terrific man. “Yeah” was apparently the last word uttered by John Lennon, according to an interview with one of the two policemen rushing him to Roosevelt Hospital. “I’m Shot!” he exclaimed just after the bullets hit him in the side and back. On December 8, 1980, the world felt shocked as John Lennon was shot five times while in the entranceway to The Dakota in New York City, where he lived with his wife Yoko Ono and their young son Sean. Julian Lennon, being the first son from marriage to Cynthia Lennon, we were in bits and pieces.

He was killed by Mark Chapman. Since the killing, Chapman has been serving his sentence for a second-degree murder charge at the Wende Correctional Facility. He has applied for parole many times, though he is still in prison potentially for life.

¨All Good Must Die Young¨

George Harrison had lung cancer and died at age 58. His last words were delivered by his widow Olivia Harrison and son Dhani Harrison.

“Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another”.

¨My Sweet, Lord¨

¨My sweet, Lord

Hm, my, Lord

Hm, my, Lord

I really want to see you

Really want to be with you

Really want to see you, Lord

But it takes so long, my Lord¨

George Harrison's body is cremated by the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and his ashes were scattered in the Ganges and Yamuna Rivers near Varanasi, India, by his close family in a private ceremony according to Hindu tradition.

It made me laugh, how much money these two guys had after their death. His death was like the Beatles say “quiet Beatle,”

Maybe my time will come, and I can say now I live a quiet life. No more straight jacket for me!

All night again! I was listening and all I could hear was this song.

“Somebody knocking at your door.

Somebody’s ringin’ the bell

Someone’s knockin’ at the door

Somebody’s ringin’ the bell

Do me a favor

Open the door and let ’em in, yeah, let ’em in

Sister Suzie, brother John

Martin Luther, Phil, and Don

Brother Michael, Auntie Gin

Open the door and let ’em in, yeah”

“You let us in! Hi, I am Paul McCartney!”

I didn’t know what to do? So I said Hi, I am Mallory. Mallory James!

Paul said “We were sent here to keep you up all night! So I brought my friends from my band. This one I thought you would be interested in, is that one out there. But I know you would not be interested in him. It was me of course!”

“I want to keep you up all night. You're going to practice being my band. I want you to practice some lyrics to my songs. It will be for one year. You can do the backup, the introduction. All of that stuff. That will keep you out of that straight jacket for a good while. What do think about that? I will introduce you to all of my friends. Mick Jaggar, and a bunch of other ones! We’ll teach you all of the ropes. There is Bob Seger that “Old Time Rock and Roll.” What do you think about that.”

I said, “Yes, that's it, I will do it!”

He said, “Good! Here is a copy of my next song. I will be back tomorrow!”

He was gone, and I was relieved. No more straight jackets!

We went by my Mom’s. She was glad to see us. Me? Of all people. I know it glad for Mom’s to see their daughter and grandson. We were there so often. She went on to tell me all her troubles with my step-father. She refused to call him my Dad or Father. It was always by name. He refused to take anything that wasn’t his fault. Even if it was he made up some excuses. She was a little frightened. She kept most answers to herself. She could still have her hair done. New clothes for work. Her health wasn’t as good as she wanted it to be. She had asthma. She kept a breathing machine, it was about the size of her thumb. It was an aspirator. I remember she used to have all these parties. My aunt would come, her friend, the lady next door, all these people. She had different types of tea. All the things she used to get from the old second-hand stores. Tea sets, napkin rings, three-tier slacks to hold chocolate pieces of cake.

Her troubles are different from mine. I wanted to tell her but those were different from mine. I held back from wanting to go to a psychologist. I just needed someone to talk to. Oh well. Maybe another time.

I had to go to work. My Jacob was fast asleep. I said my goodbyes to my Mom. I gave Jacob a kiss while he was sleeping and I was off. Hopefully, it won't be a night the last one!

We went home and it was another night like the last two. Oh my!

Hi Marie! I really enjoyed this story. I like how you chose to approach the prompt and pay homage to a beloved band. Your story did a great job of using the Beatles to characterize your main character. Thank you for writing this story! I look forward to reading your feedback on mine.
