I collected all my material off my desk. Looking out the window i suddenly decided its time to get away. It's the end of another work week. The nine to five optimist. Seeing that sun beaming down and feeling the warmth it portrayed. I shut my brief case. I reached for my phone. I'm going to make arrangements for my children for the weekend. I had good neighbors and always there's Mrs. Peabody at the end of the block. I called upon a car rental also. As I don't want to add mileage and help maintain my maintenance and longevity on my auto. Surprise to find a truck instead. A two bucket seat in front with back seat and full bed. The color was white but I wasn't looking for color graphics. The sales rep assured me that it would be available by 4:00 p.m. Fantastic, it is a short notice but spontaneous deliverance for Freedomites. My companion was all set to go as I could find my self picking up Skippy on the way home. Rough and ready not a care in the world independent and set for new horizons. My wife died several years back so my mourning was conquered. Life goes on conquistador. The convenience store just a couple miles out. I need to stop and use the restroom and freshen up. Some spirits for the route. A good hotdog or two to quiet the grumbling. I glanced at the time ooh LA LA I better get a move on. I got to the cashiers and decided I fill my vehicle that way no worry in the end. "Is this all?". Fill it I'm on lane three. Good weather were having today just can't wait to hit the highway. " you need a receipt? " "Yes please". " Thank you". Out the door and jumping in I find myself decisive about the trip. Next stop to pick up Skippy. No apparent call so I must be staying on schedule unusual. Low and behold modeling the mere essence right beforehand the flag pole in general. Always sticking out like a sore thumb. All that western motif. Rolled my window down. "You ready partner". Pulling up in the driveway I blinked and inside my vehicle they dove the kids jumped in back. Down to Mrs. Peabody's we went. I jumped out and went up to the door to greet her. I was quite blunt. She understood and welcomed my anguish. Thank you so much I'll return the favor in some way. " you bet you will". "Call me when you get back into town". " Always I do appreciate you". "Have a safe trip". So off we drove back down town to pick up the rental. Skippy we got a white truck this time. We'll leave my vehicle parked and we'll take off. Dallas, Texas here we come. We should arrive about 4:10 p.m. Keeping our itinerary we have a sound take-off. Skippy here we are let's transfer. I'll go in take care of the transaction. I came rolling out with the necessary paper work and pointed over towards our ride. Electric ignition no key equipped to start. Nice. The fuel was topped off. Just one more minute I want to become familiar with the light system. We are losing daylight. Bright lights, wipers, climate control. Let's start her up. Pulling out we both glanced back at my old jalopy sitting proudly. Pulled up to the traffic stop lights. I felt so confident. Like a kid with a new toy. Turning right forward we rolled. I had the night ahead of me. Say Skippy we better think about grabbing some dinner. I'm going to get hungry. " What sounds good?". "Skippy replies", Hardee's. " Sounds like a winner". Down the divided roadway the off road sign next right to the interstate. Skippy proceeded to set the GPS for our destination. A straight shot and we'll arrive in two shakes of lambs tail. Not that quick but say you go ahead and set us up a hotel for the night. Get one of those good deals. They got to have a package for us some where. That's a sure thing. Let's set the mood a little bit country or rock n roll . No preference as I have my ears on good buddy. I'll turn it down to accompany my temperament. Watch those road way signs. We don't miss getting fuel grub and hotel/motel mileage signs. Rest areas are potentially concrete. Well already then were in Colorado. Crossed the state lines. Were making great time. Already went through that time change. Onward Christian soldiers. Skippy that hotel reservations made in.........Fort Worth. Skippy just wide awake, must be that coffee jolting to a nuance the windowing of navigation to the sales pavilion. Its going to be enough of a market that one would possess tranquility of economics. Were always looking for that entrepreneurial event. You have all types of financial managers. The buys will be busy. The auctioneer has the bidding to incorporate juncture for action in compliancy. Different structure for breeders who herd the plains. Development decisions are made abruptly. Take a chance. Risks are always made. Purchasing power. My ranch is efficient and not in demand. We just need to reach out. Keep in touch of big names modern technology. Bump into old business partners. Last but not least the direction towards the Wild Wild West Rodeo. The big Red barn dance following. A couple of young bucks got unwinding written all over their faces. Yee haw! Let's go! We left the truck at the Happy Hotel and took a shuttle in. We made it with a couple of nice ladies who directed us towards the barn dance. Accompany them we had a showdown. We hitched a ride back to town to the hotel. We did crash for the torpedoing drive in. Dawn is not so responsive for our Eastern ride home. The aurora sun rising. The light gleaming in my eyes. Skippy you up we got to roll. Its been great. Time is on our side. Breakfast blended with significant characters to challenge the resolution of a weekend pleasure cruise. A little mischievous adventure to harmonize our workaday.

Such an energetic piece, Heidi! Your writing is engaging and adventurous. I did find the pacing a bit rushed at times, and there were some grammatical errors that disrupted the flow. With a bit of editing, your voice as a writer will shine even more. Overall, this was such a fun piece! Thank you for sharing your story!"
