This was supposed to be the happiest day of her life. What little did I know.
On the morning of January 14, 2015, I woke up a normal person. Brushed my hair like a normal person, brushed my teeth like a normal person, got dressed like a normal person. Everything was just so normal, and I liked it that way. I can't wait for today. Even though it feels normal, I feel it's different and I can't wait. Well, today is the first day back to highschool after winter break. Every other day, my best friend, Kirsten, would come to pick me up for school in her white 1997 Jeep Wrangler (TJ 2nd Generation). Needless to say, we own Day View High. Kirsten and I have the 4th period together, so we meet up and have lunch with Kason, Eric, Taylor, and Kallie every day. Today, some of the Jocks, Peyton and Kameron, decided to start a rumor that Taylor was cheating on Eric, and Taylor denied it, and Eric being the way he is, sticks up for Taylor. Well, Payton didn't like that, so he got in Eric's face and told him to back off. And that's when Taylor took her whole plate of food and shoved it in Peyton's face. Kirsten then called out, ¨Food Fight!!!!" By that time, there was food everywhere, dripping in every corner, under every table, in every strand of hair you could see was food. Then as Principal Neal walked in, everything was dead silent, and everyone pointed to Peyton and Kameron since they were also the school bullies. We got away with it, but Peyton and Kameron got put in detention and out of school suspension for the next three months. Anyway, for the 5th period, I have Science with Eric and Kallie. All people are talking about now is how strong Tay and Eric's relationship is and how messy everyone made the school lunchroom. In the middle of class, I got called out of class for a phone call. They said it was my dad, and I looked at Kallie and Eric confused and then went to the office for the call. It turns out it wasn't my dad; it was Luke, my ex-best friend's boyfriend, inviting me to a party. I said okay let me think about it. Finally, school was over! I told Kirsten and Kason about the party first, and they said that we should go. I told Taylor, Eric, and Kallie about it, and turns out Taylor and Eric got invited to, so it wasn't just me, thank god.We all went home and got ready for the party. Before the party, we all met up at a coffee shop and then went to the party together. We showed up at a nice, big, white house with lights set up in every corner and straight away. We walked inside, and the music was blowing, lights were shining, it was a big layout. It surprised me honestly. The first thing Kason did was go to the food of course, Taylor and Eric left to sit by the pool, Kallie went to find a boyfriend, and Kirsten and I hung out around the stairwell when we saw Luke and Lailyn. They looked so good together, but man, were their personalities so different. She was such a mean, lying, little girl that got with every guy in her sight, but he was so sweet and innocent it is ridiculous. Anyways, of course, the first thing Lailyn did was come up to Kirsten and me and ask why we were there because she couldn't handle the fact that we were there at Luke's party having fun. I then smiled and said, hey to Luke, ignoring Lailyn. Lailyn walked off in a rush not liking the fact that we ignored her. Kirsten finds some short kid to follow and mess with while I walk around looking for Kason because he's always in trouble. The first place I looked at was the kitchen because Kason loves the kitchen. And sure enough, there he was on the kitchen table passed out. I just laughed and walked off to look for Kallie. On my way, I ran into an old friend Emily, she kind of fell off the tracks in the sixth grade, but I always had respect for her. We have known each other since the first grade. Emily and Kirsten used to be best friends, but I don't know what happened there. Emily was carrying a cup of punch, and when we ran into each other, it spilled all over me. She offered to help me clean up, but I politely declined, she still helped me. She seemed in a rush, so I asked her what was wrong, and by that time, Lailyn walked in and said, "Who let two slobs into my party." Emily ran off in fear and embarrassment, but I stood up and told Lailyn to mind her business. With all the commotion, Kallie and Kirsten walked in to help me with whatever was going on. Little did they know I was fine. Lailyn told us to get out, but none of us listened to her, so we minded our own business, something she could never do. Two hours had passed, and everyone was leaving. I was on my way out when Lailyn walked up to me and told me never to return for some reason. Luke walked us out to our cars since it is his party anyway. Kirsten asks Luke, "What was wrong with Lailyn? Not that she doesn't always act like this, just she was all over us tonight." He said, “she feels threatened by yall.” and I was like, umm okay. He said she gets jealous easily. Kirsten and I understood since she is our ex-best friend and everything. After we all got done saying goodbye, we left. Not even halfway home, we all get a text. It read, "A 17-year-old girl in the middle of the road, dead, the drivers that saw her say they thought it was dear or a log and went to go check on it, turns out it was a girl's body. They state that they are emotionally scarred and will never look at life the same. She killed herself by jumping in front of a moving vehicle not too long before they found her body north of Eastwood neighborhood." We all started crying realizing that it was Emily. The whole way home was silent and the air was filled with sorrow. When Kirsten dropped me off, I went straight to bed. On the morning of January 15, 2015, or so I thought. I woke up like a normal person. Only this time, I felt as if I have already lived the day. It felt as if I brushed my hair the same, my teeth the same, and I dressed the exact same. Once Kirsten got here to pick me up, she said the exact same thing as yesterday when I got into the car, "What did you get all dressed up for?." I was so confused. Am I really reliving the same day? I asked Kirsten what the date was, and she said January 14, 2015. I was so confused and started to panic. Time flew by during the day with me thinking of what was going on. I am now at lunch, and the same conversation about Taylor cheating happened. The same food fight. The same 5th-period phone call. Everything was the same. But this time Eric and Taylor told us all about the party. I said I don't want to go. Everyone asked why, and I said, "Do yall not feel it too?" They all look at me in confusion, and Kason asks, "Felling what?" "We have already repeated this day. Haven't we?" Kallie said, "No, today's my first day." I felt my heart sink as everyone else agrees with her. Kirsten asks me if I'm okay. I say no but yes at the same time. I tell her I feel like I'm losing my mind. We ended up not going to the party, so we hung out at the coffee shop. We are there for about 2 hours hanging out. When we start heading home, we get an alert for an Instagram post. It's a video of the party. Lailyn was making fun of Emily and embarrassing her so badly for no reason. We all dislike the post and keep heading our way home. When I get home, I lay down, and then I get a text notification. "A 17-year-old girl in the middle of the road, dead, the drivers that saw her say they thought it was dear or a log and went to go check on it, turns out it was a girl's body. They state that they are emotionally scarred and will never look at life the same. She killed herself by jumping in front of a moving vehicle not too long before they found her body north of Eastwood neighborhood." I threw my phone down and started balling. Why was this happening to me?! I went to sleep, crying, and praying for a different day. On the morning of what I hope is January 15, 2015. I feel the exact same as yesterday. Not a good sign. Again I brush my hair the same, brush my teeth the same, and dress the exact same. I decided to plan what I would do differently today to help my days start becoming different or normal again. No matter how hard I try to plan, nothing works. I came up with nothing. By the time I get my bag ready, I get into the car with Kirsten. Same greeting as yesterday and the day before. Once we got to school, I took the day seriously so I would know what to do. Finally came lunch. This time I helped Eric defend Tay, and Kason socked Peyton in the jaw so hard he fell to his knees when Eric drop kicked Kameron so hard his kneecaps caved in. I prevented the food fight, but this time we got in a lot of trouble. Kason and Eric got put in in-school suspension, and Taylor's mom came to get her from the school. Kallie, Kirsten, and I finished the day off. I got a party invite to Luke's party. I told them. They agreed that we should go, but I told them we had to get Taylor, Eric, and Kason. They said we were going to have to bail them out and that we did. The party was the same as two days ago. Looked the same, everyone acted the same, and everything was going good until we saw Lailyn. She started messing around again, but this time I ignored her, and she didn't like it one bit. An hour or two passes by, and me and Kallie are upstairs talking about everything that has been happening the past couple of days when we hear yelling downstairs. We rush downstairs to see what's going on when we see Lailyn picking on Emily like I saw yesterday in the video, so I step in and decide to stand up for Emily. Lailyn keeps going. I ask, “What did Emily ever do to you.?” and she ignored me. A couple of seconds pass, and she responds with, ”Everything, everything I have and had. She stole everything. Nothing is the same!”I was so confused, and my mind was filling up with things to change and ask and do. We leave about 20 minutes after that, and sure enough, I get the same text message as I have received the past two days. It hurt me to see everyone around me cry and sob in sorrow , and I couldn't take the fact that the same day keeps repeating and the same things just happen. I got home and immediately went to sleep.
On the morning of still January 14, 2015. I woke up the same as every other day. Did everything the same. I thought the same, walked the same, talked the same. There was no hope for me. I am stuck on January 14, 2015, forever. Then I started thinking and researching about my problem. To make other people happy, sometimes you have to give up your happiness, I thought. And that's it! I have to give up my joy for other people to be happy. Well, at least in this situation. Kirsten came and got me at the same time as every other day. We arrive at school, and the first thing I do is look for Emily. I look in the classrooms, the hallways, and even outside the school, I don't see her. I report to my first-period class and think about how my day will go and what I will do. The day goes by fast again, and lunch comes up. I set my plate down and walk over to Peyton and Kameron, and whisper to them, "Don't even think about it today." I scared them so badly that they went and ate in their classrooms. Lunch was so peaceful today until I started to think about how today is my last day. After today that's it. The lunch bell then rings, and we go to the fifth period. I get the same party phone call again, but this time I tell him I'll be there, no doubt. Anyways, school ended in what it feels like 5 minutes. I told everyone about the party, and we decide to go. We all went home to get ready for the party and then met up at the coffee shop. Once we arrive at the party, I pull Taylor and Kirsten aside and tell them how much I love them and made them promise that if anything ever happened to me, for them to never forget me. I think it freaked them out a bit, but they told me they love me back and they could and would never forget about me. When we entered the party, I saw Lailyn and Emily arguing. I run up to them, but right when I got there, Emily took off.
I look at Lailyn with tears running down my face, "Do you know what you have done!?" Lailyn starts to say something, but I quickly cut her off," Cause I don't think you do." I took off after Emily as fast as I could. My heart is set on one thing. Emily's life. I see Emily on the edge of the street, and I run faster. Once I grab her hand and, I ask, "what are you doing!?" She looks at me with tears pouring down her face, "What do you think I'm doing." Trust me, I know what you are doing, and trust me, it's not the right thing. Everyone loves you, okay." As she pulls away out of my grip on her hand she says, "No, they don't. Lailyn doesn't, and your friend Kallie doesn't." "They may not like you, but that doesn't mean they want you to die!." She starts backing into the middle of the street and says,”goodbye.” I hear my friends from behind yell and scream in terror but by then, it was too late. I had already quickly pushed her out of the way of the upcoming moving vehicle, and right then and there, I felt the past three days lift off my shoulders.Just like a flash, gone. Just like that, everything, gone.
