REVELATIONS

“I remember…” said Snow, a militia man, when revising the operation files, “Does this sound familiar?” asks Captain Besserwisser. Snow, confidently, replies saying that whatever it is, it will be done.

On a Monday midnight in New York, a group of 19 military men, carefully enter a facility to gather information for a special investigation conducted against the Corporation’s President; Snow, alerts that the surveillance system has awakened from sleep. The Captain immediately advises the security team to take care of the situation, before he enters another room labeled “The Black Room.” Before Snow can reply to his master, gas spreads strategically among the men located in the main office; an audible announcement consisting of a man’s voice, orders them to surrender.

Soon they notice that the gas is only spread around the main office, with Flame fainting, being the only affected. Captain Besserwisser, installs order by rescuing their soldier, recovering their equipment. Once united again, they decide to seize the nearby space which is the meeting room. Flame starts waking up, asking if the mission was successful, Flank provides him updates about their current position. Shivering, Flame’s brown skin turns pale, his eyes red, saying that he feels very cold. Snow then hands him his black jacket, telling him to resist and complete what they started.

After assessing from the data extracted, Captain Besserwisser says that there is one important missing document “Phase Spider,” which he believes is in the same room he was about to enter after the gas spray. He divides his men, 5 will stay preserving the collected data, 2 groups of five men will search for more information in the rooms from the second level, and 3 will accompany him to inspect the Black Room.

Everyone moves where they were sent to. But as soon as both teams reach the second level they are welcomed with bullets, giving them no time to react. Snow gains access to the cameras of the building, learning that the teams were executed by the Automated Annihilation Array Army (A.A.A.A.), the secret security enforcement instrument from the institution, guarding androids with sophisticated weaponry. Snow runs into the Black Room to warn the captain, not before instructing Flame, Flank, and two of the other men, to extract the evidence into the yellow van.

As he enters the Black Room, darkness and silence persisted inside, as if no sign of life ever existed, impulsing Snow to hold a flashlight with his left hand, under his right hand bearing a black Desert Eagle pistol, as he walks through slowly and measuring his steps. Suddenly, Captain Besserwisser holds his pistol, wrapping his gloved hand into Snow’s mouth, alerting him that those “things” are everywhere, concerned because he was really expecting human resources instead of programmed defense systems.

Meanwhile, the data is secured in the yellow van, with the men waiting for the rest to reunite and complete the mission, without knowing about the androids, yet. One of the men thinks it is a good idea to smoke and decides to ignite a randomly chosen cigar from his leftward chest pocket, enraged Flame, commands the man to turn it off and “concentrate in the moment.” But he quickly dismisses him, saying that such a “Flame” should be encouraging and lighting the party, alluding to a day in which Flame’s mother died caused by a lethal cigarette on her son’s birthday. A comment that Flame does not resist printing his fist in the man’s face, bleeding instantly and with no cease, Flank intercepts his twin brother Flame before the situation could worsen; as the others try to help the fallen, he yells rejecting their aid, he pulls a shiny silver knife from his waist pocket, running to bury it into Flame’s chest. Flank perceives something from far about to happen, when he swiftly drags Flame with him into another direction. The man with the knife and his associates are assassinated by a coordinated stream of bullets fired by the annihilating forces, staining the van with red spots; obligating both brothers to hide from danger.

When Snow feels that it is safe to leave the room, he shares a plan with Captain Besserwisser, consisting of moving fast together into the main office, and from there, their way outside meeting with the rest of the team, an idea that the captain immediately approves. As they walk towards the hallway leading to the entrance, they notice that it is locked, Snow tries to unlock it with a wrong access code that activates the alarm, noticing that the code that initially worked was changed. Snow improvises by taking a grenade from their armament case to push the doors out. But is interrupted by an android ambush which prevents him from removing the grenade’s pull ring. Killing the accompanying men and nearly Captain Besserwisser. As the androids approach, Besserwisser tells him to clear the entrance for their escape simultaneously offering coverage, Snow agrees by pulling the safety pin targeting the steel doors. Consequently both doors open forced by the explosion leaving a black hole with surrounding gray debris polluting the air with ashes and dust, affecting the androids temporarily with null vision, shooting in random and uncoordinated directions, without noticing some bullets resulting in collateral damage to their own army, until one finally hits a red target penetrating through the brown eyebrows and into Besserwisser’s skull; the men are disorganized and start running in their desperation; a gray stream of fog invades the main office, allowing Snow to flee.

He barely manages to leave the facility, and in the moment he sights the yellow van, he presses on his legs to run faster, just to discover flat tires and find the men, including Flame and Flask dead. When he feels someone is behind him, he turns right, receiving a hard hit on the head, but still conscious, he hardly sees a tall manly silhouette that hits him harder, this time losing consciousness.

Next day, he awakes greeted by the same tall figure, this time he can see that he wears a white shirt with a black tie inside a black suit. Telling him that they all have failed. “I remember…you,” Snow cries as he recognizes the man, rewinding the time he spent in special military trainings during his youth, revealing the tall man’s name, Andrew; as Andrew reveals Snow’s real name, Sawyer Winters, smiling saying that it has been a long time since both encounter each other, him not realizing an “uncomfortable” current situation; Telling that he knew well what he was doing enlisted in the military. Later, he says that recently there were some cockroaches intervening into his affairs. Making him know that he was present in the building during their operation. He also replied that their efforts were wrongly allocated in the wrong fight, since their employer is one of his global competitors, blind by ambition to take all of him. He then shows the documentation extracted from Winter’s belongings, displaying everything regarding the past operation; he also takes a folder from the nearby table, contrasting both in size, but resembling in content. Sawyer gasps as he is now understanding that the operation was of Andrew’s knowledge, long before they were hired for the job.

After the revelation, Sawyer is disconnected from the only machine that keeps him alive, not before Andrew lets him know the war is not won by force, but rather who wisely uses it. He walks away once Sawyer Winters is pronounced dead, with the files of Schlecht, the team’s employer.
