“Hey agent 112, did you get those invitations out for that cookie exchange party?” asked the CIA commander Jones, “So far, this is the closest that we have gotten to getting Howard Greenwood.”
Howard Greenwood is a big-time criminal in the town of Thomasville. It's up to agent 78, and her assistant agent 112 in the CIA to catch him.
Hey honey,” said Mrs. Greenwood, “ We got an invitation to go to the Miller’s holiday cookie exchange party tomorrow. Maybe you could snag some of their nice wine glasses while we are there, I have always admired them.” she continued.
“Sure honey bunches, anything for you.” Howard Greenwood responded.
“Great, I can’t wait for cookies and some new wine glasses.” Says Mrs. Greenwood as she goes and slumps onto the couch and turns on the television.
“Howard dear, you need to steal another television, this other one you stole is getting old.”
Mrs. Greenwood is a very lazy person, mainly because being married to a thief means that she doesn't have to do anything. If they need groceries, Howard will go and swipe some food from someone in the store parking lot. And, if she wants anything that their neighbours have, Howard will sneak in, and take it.
“Okay, okay, I can steal us a new tv. I heard that the Andersons got a new one just yesterday. They won’t stop bragging about it. The party is a cookie exchange right?” he asked.
“Yes…” Mrs. Greenwood responded, “Why?”
“A cookie exchange means that the host and the guests exchange their cookies with one another. This means, honey, that you need to bake a batch of cookies.” He said.
“You can just steal some cookies. I will put them on a plate and call them homemade,” she told Howard.
As the night passed, Howard stole the cookies along with the television and went into bed with Mrs. Greenwood. The next day came, and so did the party.
“Howard are you ready to go? The cookie exchange holiday party starts soon.”
“Okay honey I just have to get your purse ready with the fake plastic wine glasses. You don’t want the wine glasses to shatter, do you now?”
“No,” answered Mrs. Greenwood with an annoyed tone in her voice.
Mr. and Mrs. Greenwood walked to the Millers for the exchange party, the stolen cookies in hand, and Mrs. Greenwood had her purse to place the wine glasses into. In her purse there were the fake glasses, to replace the real ones.
When they arrived at the Millers house Mr. and Mrs. Greenwood said hello to the neighbours, Mrs. Greenwood put her purse in the dining room and started talking to the others. Howard went into the dining room to smuggle the wine glasses and put the fake one in their place.
When Howard entered the dining room, he found the glasses in a china cabinet at the back of the room. He effortlessly slipped to take them and put fake glasses back in the cabinet.
When Howard was done, he motioned Mrs. Greenwood to come over and take her purse back.
Mrs. Greenwood entered the living room and told the ladies “Sorry, forgot my purse in the dining room from when I first came in. I was just looking to find the restroom, but I took a wrong turn by mistake.”
They all laughed and kept chatting. Minutes later, agent 112 (Mr.Miller) entered the room.
“Hello everyone. I hope that you are enjoying this fun little holiday party. Now, it's time for everyone to get out their fresh homemade cookies for everyone to share and enjoy!”
“Agent 78 and commander Jones this agent 112, I have everyone gathered in the living room including Howard Greenwood and his wife,” he whispered through his ear piece. “ It’s time to continue to phase two, get Mr. and Mrs. Greenwood into a private room with us.”
Agent 112 asked Mr. and Mrs. Greenwood to come into the kitchen to grab the other cookies to share.
They politely agreed and followed him to the kitchen. Where they met up with Mrs. Miller (agent 78).
The Agents looked around, and something caught Mrs. Miller’s attention.
“Wait for a second,” agent 78 whispers into her earpiece. “Something’s not right, but we can look into it later. Our goal right now is to Arrest Howard Greenwood and his wife.”
“So! Let’s get those cookies into the living room.” Mrs. Greenwood says trying to break the tension that started to build up in the room.
“Um, right. Let’s do that.” Mr. Miller’s responses.
They all start getting plates of festive cookies and start taking them into the living room.
When the Millers and Mr. and Mrs. Greenwood came into the kitchen together for the last time, to get the last round of cookies, agent 78 and 112 stepped aside for a second, and agent 78 whispered to agent 112,
“It’s time to begin phase three, the final phase, ‘Locked Up’”
Agent 112 nodded.
Together they casually walked over to the Greenwoods and Mrs. Miller said “Mr. Howard Greenwood you are under arrest for the robbing of others valuables and personal property.” Agent 78 said as she ran behind Howard, and cuffed him behind his back.
Just before Mrs. Greenwood could get away, agent 112 stuck his foot out to trip her. She fell flat on her face with a “THUMP”
“As for you Mrs. Greenwood, you're a tricky one I see, but because you did not actually rob these people, you will not be put in jail.”
“So I am free?” she asked hopefully.
“Not exactly. You did encourage this robbing so, you will be sentenced to a $2000 fine.” Agent 78 said as agent 112 put handcuffs on Mrs. Greenwood.
“Wait for a second, she has a purse,” agent 112 notices. Then agent 78 walks over to the purse and opens it up, inside are wine glasses.
“Ha, these thieves only came to this party because they wanted the wine glasses.” Agent 78 discovers.
Then, agent 112 walks over to the china cabinet where the wine glasses were.
“But there are glasses right here?” Agent 112 discovers.
“Well, if you would take those glasses out, you would see that they are fake, plastic wine glasses.” Agent 78 said in her rude tone. “Now do you understand why I am in a higher rank than you?” She said in that rude tone yet again.
He took them out and noticed that they were fake. Then agent 112 put the real ones back in their place and threw the plastic ones out. And then they headed to the living room with both Mr. and Mrs. Greenwood.
When both Agent 78 and 112 entered the living room with the Greenwood’s, everyone else was sitting. They all had obviously overheard because they all looked like they were in shock.
Agent 78 spoke in an unfortunate voice and said “These people are thieves. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, do you recall the mystery of the stolen television of yours?
“Why yes, I do ma’am.” Mrs. Anderson responded.
“Well, I and my assistant here are quite sure that the Greenwoods are responsible.” Informed agent 78.
The next day Howard Greenwood was behind bars, and Mrs. Greenwood was on the side of the highway, picking up garbage so she could earn some cash to pay the fine.
That’s how the CIA knew that the citizens of Thomasville were officially safe from being robbed by Howard Greenwood.
