The struggle for Love

It was a normal day in Sameer’s life when he was doing the normal teenagers things, using phone and was scrolling social media for memes. Everything went fine until he gained some interest in a feed post which contained a gameplay video. It wouldn’t have been so interesting if his character wouldn’t have been in that gameplay. But wait, there was something else he saw and remembered…

Two days ago-         

It was the fifth time when Sameer’s mom called for him and he gave the most ritualistic answer “five minutes mom!”

You must have inferred what he was doing and yes, he was playing an online game and at any cost, he couldn’t leave this current match as a girl teammate had joined his team randomly.

Now, in online games there is huge shortage of girl gamers and when they get matched, more than the game, others are interested in the girls. Ragini was matched with Sameer and two others and during the game, she did any mistake to which Sameer started abusing unknown of the fact that she was a girl.

When the situation became intolerable, Ragini opened up her mic and shouted “Enough you a****” and now it was the time for Sameer to regret…

He kept on apologizing but Ragini had already turned off her speaker and was hearing nothing. The other two fellas were laughing at him and annoyed by this, he abused them also.

The game finally ended and Sameer did send her friend request as expected.

Ragini, a girl who didn’t even accepted friend request of any normal stranger, how was she even going to accept the request of boy like him. But at that point of time, her mood just too a swing and she accepted the friend request. She herself couldn’t decide why she did that but she just did it. And Sameer other side was dancing with joy.

He instantly invited her but it was not going to be so easy, he forgot there was an option called unfriend. But Ragini too was not annoyed but enjoying seeing him so curious.

Earlier every time she met with new people, she got afraid and the fear of losing came in her mind but this time it didn’t. This time, a strange feeling came in her mind.

When finally her character came side by side with Sameer’s, her chest felt heavy while heart started pounding heavily. She was going crazy and to calm herself down, she opened up her mic and started “Hey! I wanted to say sorry, it was my fault. You were right, I realised. Can you forgive me for that word?”

How was Sameer even going to deny her but before he could say anything, she left and unfriended him. He was fully dumbstruck and cursed himself for not doing the things quickly.

He could do nothing but to sit like dumb till his mom finally entered his room and banged his head with her fist.

Sameer realized that it was the same girl’s gameplay and he is the teammate in the video. He stalked the page which has uploaded the video but alas! He couldn’t find the girl’s username because the video was uploaded on an independent page where random people can send their creations and the admin will post it.

But wait, he came up with a lame plan about which he too was not sure.

He messaged the admin and requested him for the user id of the person who shared him that video. Sameer knew the reply is going to take time but it took longer than he has expected.

The reply came after two days and that too in negative. It was “our page keeps all the identities secret until it’s requested to show and the owner of this video has especially restricted me to not share the identity.”

He requested again telling it was important and also made a fake story so that the admin can believe him but still it took very long for Sameer to convince him. Finally, after a week or two he succeeded and got her username.

He went to her profile and it was the same as he expected. It was locked. But still, he was not going to give up and sent a friend request with a direct message “Hii”.

He expected no reply until a month but to him amusement, it came after two hours.

Girl: “May I know who you are?”

Sameer: “Hey! I am Sameer”

Girl: “Sorry! But I don’t know you”

Sameer: “Do you remember the match you played two days ago with me?” (Sends the post video).

Girl: “I am sorry but am not comfortable with strangers”

Sameer: “Okay no problem, you can take your time.”

Girl: “I mean to say that I don’t like talking to strangers”

Sameer: “So can we become friends? Than you can talk to me comfortably.

Girl: “It would be complicated. Are you ready?”

Sameer: “Yup!!”

Three weeks passed since that incident and finally they became friends, not good or best but yes, now they talked to each other comfortably or just she talked to him comfortably.

Ragini was her name and she lived in a different city, not too far from Sameer’s. She did also started playing games with Sameer comfortably along with voice chat.

Sameer was happy as everything was going good in his life, he had decided to disclose his feelings for her on his birthday.

Her birthday was far away from the current day so he decided to tell her on his birthday that he loved her from the time he haven’t even seen her.

Ragini kept on pleading to tell her what is the thing he was going to tell but Sameer told nothing and always succeeded in changing the topic.

Finally, it was his birthday and as expected Ragini was the first to wish him. In India, friends wish you earlier than parents because for parents, day starts after 6AM.

They both were talking on a video call and Ragini was singing the birthday song. At last, curious of the fact she was not told from these many days, she asked and Sameer told her “Can we be forever?”

“We will be forever, like this only.” Still unaware of what he was saying. “No, I mean don’t leave me, be with me forever.” Said Sameer.

“I will, you are my most understanding friend until now and I would never leave you…” said Ragini.

“You aren’t understanding, I want to make you mine, forever, with me, side by side.” Said Sameer, in a slow tone.

Ragini was silent on sensing what he meant. Finally she spoke up “You know nothing about me, I can’t do this with you…”

“I don’t need to know, you may have been in any relationship and maybe you must have kept any physical relation with your partner, it all doesn’t matters to me. All I need is you, just you…”

“It’s not the matter Sameer, yesterday my ex messaged me that he was sorry and he left me due to family problems and now everything is fine so he can again be with me, and today, you are…” I don’t know what to do.

“He is your ex and he left you and still you are thinking about him? Ragini common…” said Sameer in a sensual tone.

“I need time Sameer, and please don’t disturb me in middle. When I would get clear, I will contact you.” Said Ragini.

Sameer knew, if Ragini asked for no disturbance, she meant it and if she was disturbed in middle, the person remembers the consequences for years.

Ragini was in full dilemma and didn’t knew what to do. She has been with her ex for eleven months while just five months with Sameer. But the attachment she couldn’t get with her ex in six months, she got with Sameer in two months.

She was fully blank and her only friend she took advice from was Sameer. She didn’t knew what to do.

While the other side Sameer was overthinking and didn’t do anything the whole day. He was afraid about what fate would bring to him.

The other day, Ragini had made up her decision and texted Sameer “Hii Sameer, by the time you read this text, I would have blocked you and would never contact you again. I am sorry Sameer, you are a very good boy and any girl would be happy with you but I know him better than you. I am sorry Sameer, but he is someone I’ve truly loved. In your case, it wasn’t love but just attachment.

Bye! Try to forget me and find someone better.”

This made Sameer fully broken from inside and he left playing games and terminated everything from which he could interact with strangers. His faith in online friendship and any type of attachment was faded.

The other side, Ragini was lying on her bed and sobbing, trying to accept the truth. She was not having any type of ex and the reason she rejected Sameer’s proposal was because she was suffering from cancer and her life was certain. She too wanted to live with Sameer forever, but fate has bonded her and she couldn’t guarantee how long she could live.

It was her choice and she did it for Sameer, the only love of her life…
