THE PUSH

Melanie muttered to herself, I don’t know what my problem is, everyday I tell myself, I will write and publish my first novel but fear holds me back. I fear that the world is full of great authors and so I might not get a chance to even be noticed. I enjoy writing, but am scared that other people might not like my stories, quotes, articles, poems, messages except my friends. I am just stocked with this desire to have my novel read worldwide but my problem is fear. Melanie Kings is a gifted writer. Without being told she knows that writing is her gift and she prides in writing about just anything that comes to her head. From inspirational quotes, love quotes, beautiful love stories, articles, poems and anything writeable. The sweet part is that her writing attracts a lot of positive reactions where ever and when ever she writes. Friends and family knows that Melanie is a born writer. Melanie in her own words tells everyone that commends her writing that she feels fulfilled when she writes and they reply she gets constantly from her fans never changes “you will make a great author Melanie, go write a book, you are a good writer” though she had wished she could write a lot of books putting out the ideas in her head in a book to educate and enlighten people but procrastination and fear are the vices keeping her from writing her dream book. Fear and irrelevant things has kept her from becoming the best author that she ought to be. 

On the 18th of May, 2018. The Chief Editor of a Media house in Lekki put a call across to her after reading one of her articles on one of her social media handle requesting that she becomes their columnist in one of their most popular magazine but Melanie turned down the offer saying “ l would love to write for your magazine but I have things keeping me busy, sorry I can’t accept this offer” immediately after dropping the call on the Chief Editor, Melanie started soliloquizing, oh no I should have accepted the offer, but how do I start? and then she ran immediately to tell her girlfriend about the Chief Editor’s call. Tasha on hearing her reason for rejecting the offer condemned her actions, how could you say you have things keeping you busy when you spend the whole day in front of the television? Honestly Tasha, the 24 hours isn’t enough for me besides I have never worked in a media house before, never been a columnist before. Yes! You have never worked as a columnist before but I know who you are Melanie. You are my friend, the best writer I know. Thanks for the sweet words Tasha but I am not fit for that Job! Tasha being Confident in the writing ability of Melanie knew immediately that her friend needed a PUSH to channel her gift! Starring at Melanie with a sad look, she muttered to herself, I can’t watch you waste away such a precious gift, you are my childhood friend, more like a sister to me, you are a born writer honey! When you write, people marvel, everyone love your writing, that Chief Editor must have loved your writing and feels you are the right person for the job, why waste your gift girl? I see you need a push and am going to make sure you get the push you need to utilize your gift. 

Tasha went over to the tea pot, poured in two cups of tea, one for herself and the other for Melanie. She said as she handed Melanie the cup of Tea, Melanie, how about we hang out tomorrow with Paul? There is something I need to speak with him about. Oh, okay! That would be nice. 

That night, Melanie thought to herself that she is going to start writing books, she said to herself, after hanging out with Tasha and Paul tomorrow, am going to write my first book in one day and I will write seven books in one week and I will publish all, I have a lot of ideas in my head and the world needs to learn a lot from my ideas through my books, there is really nothing much keeping me busy only television series and games, I am going to stop procrastinating and get my book out there, so help me God! She slept off.  

Hey Paul! Tasha greeted. What do you think about someone having a natural gift, knowing she has such a gift but lacks the confidence to face the world? I mean not believing in her ability? Oh is this why we are here? Melanie asked, well Melanie I am actually worried about you. When I look at you, I see a gifted and intelligent friend who doesn’t know how powerful she is. So I felt Paul could help me with some answers as to why you don’t want to write a book, become a freelancer, a blogger or even accept a writing job in a media firm to put your gift to use. Melanie starred at her friend amazingly, Paul spoke up saying, I have known Melanie for ages and as one of her social media fan, I have lost count of how her writing has really inspired me, educated and motivated me. Mellie! You are truly a gifted writer but I think you are afraid of going public with your gift, you just want to remain in the circle of friends. Writing just for fun within the circle of friends is good darling but your writing won’t reach much audience that way, you can’t touch the many lives you desire to touch that way, and you won’t be getting your messages across to as many people that needs to get it as possible. You need to reach more people with your gift girl and this can be achieved by you writing a book, you can also choose to be a freelance writer, blogger or work with a firm or other writers. See Melanie you are everything writing, I see your articles, the stories you write, your poems and quotes, you got it dear, go write a book, I bet you will emerge the number one best seller soon before you realize it. Just take the first step, Paul continued, start writing your book now and every other subsequent step becomes easier. You are equal to the world Mellie and the world is waiting to read from you. Thanks a lot Paul! Tasha added. I am so longing to read her first novel. Okay, I will write a book first, I will take the step as Paul advised. Thank you Paul for the PUSH! Tasha filled with ecstasy, smiled happily convinced that her friend has gotten the PUSH she actually needed. Alright Paul we would take our leave now, get ready to grab your copy of my first book, it is going to be a novel about how I got my inspiration to put my gift to work Melanie said. 

Tasha but don’t you think that there are so many great authors everywhere and my book might not even see the light of day? C'mon Melanie, remember that book we read last week? Power of positive thinking? It says in one of the chapters, you have got to believe that you can do everything you put your mind to. Every dream can come true girl, only you have to put your best and believe. You have always wanted to be an author dear and you have absolutely what it takes to be a best-selling author, just start now and you will be amazed at how good a writer you are. Okay! Get me a pen and a plain note let me try, Melanie started writing and in no time, being gifted with writing wrote one of the best novel of our time, THE PUSH! 

She heaved a sigh of relief and said, whoa! Now I fill fulfilled. Feels like I just dropped off a heavy burden. Nothing is as satisfying as doing what you love doing when you want to do it. She smiled happily and ran off to Tasha, handed her the script, saying, here! Check this out before I publish it, Tasha amazed at how good an author her friend is gave Melanie a hug saying I always know you will make me proud! Melanie excited at writing her first novel said to Tasha, I wouldn’t have done this without you, I know I write well but never knew or believed I was this good until you pushed me, thank you for the PUSH honey! Let’s go type and publish it, 

Melanie wrote and published her first novel the same day and she listed it on her social media handles, her friends and fans were so excited and promoted the novel even without her asking and she made massive sales that same day, the news of a new young writer who wrote and self publish one of the best selling novels went round the Internet and all over the world. 

Tasha seeing the news of a young teenager writing and self publishing one of the world’s most read novel, she giggled and said yes! Tell it to the world that my girlfriend got the push she needed, wrote her first book and has continued writing the best books ever.
