Drama Fiction Friendship

“Hey! Waiting for somebody?“ he said.

Looking up a little shocked, she ran her eyes here and there in the empty coffee shop. In a state of confusion, she said” Talking to me?”

“Yes Gorgeous,” he said

“Of course, I am waiting for somebody, so if you could please excuse me “, she said a little irritated.

“If you don’t mind, can I accompany you till that somebody arrives?” he said smiling widely.

“No, I like waiting alone?” she said with finality in her tone trying to dismiss him.

“That’s rude, such a beautiful face deserves a beautiful tongue as well”; he said sitting down right in front of her.

“I asked you to leave Mister, please don’t create a scene,” she said losing her control.

“I won’t eat you Jannat, relax. Talking will do no harm” he said.

“How do you know my name?” She asked bewildered.

“I didn’t know, aging up would bring in amnesia Jannat, and you would forget your best and only friend Kabir,” he said.

Surprised and shocked by this information, the only words that came out from her mouth- “KABIR”

Looking at him directly in the eyes, as if trying to recognize him, she went through pools of emotions in just a matter of minutes.

Recognizing him, with tears in her eyes and a smile across her lips she said,” Where have you been all this while, Kabir?

“Your smile is still contagious, Jannat,” he said, ignoring her question completely.

“I asked where have you been all this while, Kabir?” She repeated.

“Pink still suits you Jannat. I didn’t know you will grow up to be this beautiful?” he winked mischievously at her still avoiding her question.

“Stop flirting, Kabir”, she said rolling her eyes.

The waiter came to take their orders, disturbing their conversation.

“2 Cold Coffees and a chicken grilled sandwich” he ordered, dismissing the waiter. They were her favorite. How wouldn’t he know?

“You still remember?” she asked curiously.

“I remember everything about you ’Jannat. Wanna, try me”, he said proudly.

“Okay, so what’s my favorite color?” she asked.

“Pink” he answered.

“What’s my favorite dessert?’ she asked.

“Chocolate Icecream,” he said.

“Favourite Holiday Spot? She asked

“Goa,” he said.

“Full points” she laughed her heart out, satisfied that he ‘did’ remember her.

Little did she know that he had never forgotten her.

The waiter came with their order and left wishing them a good afternoon.

“So, what are you doing nowadays?” he asked drinking his coffee.

“I am a Kindergarten teacher”, she said

“Oh, so you still love kids,” he asked.

“Yes, and that’s the reason for choosing this profession. I feel so relaxed hearing their cute chatter, throughout the day. I have even volunteered at a small orphanage for helping the kids in need”, she said smiling widely.

“Aha, we have the old Jannat here, with that sweet little heart for hers”; he said teasingly.

“Come on now stop teasing me, and tell me something about you?“ she said.

“What do you want to know? You ask and I will tell you” he said raising his eyebrows.

“Okay, so tell me where had you been all these years? It's after 12 years that I am seeing you”; she said.

“My family shifted to Canada. I completed my education there only, and it’s been around six months that we shifted back to London” she said.

“Oh, so what are you planning to do here?” she asked.

“I have already set up an import-export business here. And it's already earning huge profits” he said.

“Oh wow, that’s great news. I didn’t know a hooligan like you would do so well in business” she mocked.

“Come on Jannat now don’t say that,” he said.

“The truth remains the truth. If it wasn’t for me, you would still have been in class 3 only”, she blurted out laughing.

“Ya ya, the great Miss Jannat. Thanks for the favor” he said a bit annoyed.

“Don’t sulk now and be a good boy. Have the sandwich, it's yum” she said.

“You know Jannat, what do I like the most about you? Even better than your heart?” he said.

“What?” she asked

“It’s your smile, and I would do anything to have it intact,” he said.

“How sweet,” she said, adoring her long-lost friend who is all set to make her feel special all over again after 12 years.

“So, are you are planning to settle here only for life,” she asked smiling at him.

“Yes, for life”, he said.

“So, do you have somebody in your life? Any Love angle?” she asked mischievously.

“Yes,” he said boring through her eyes. It was now or never for him. He had to tell her that he was deeply, madly, and crazily in love with her. It was because of her that he had come back. He had to tell her so much…….

But before he could say anything…….

“Hey Jannat”, came a voice from behind him. Both Jannat and Kabir looked at the source of the voice.

“Finally, here you are Veer”, said Jannat getting up from the chair and holding Veer by the arm.

“Meet Kabir, my childhood buddy, and Kabir meet Veer-My husband,” she said.

2 Months Later

“Hey! Waiting for somebody? “he said.

She said Nothing.

“If you don’t mind, can I accompany you here?” he said smiling widely.

She said nothing.

“That’s rude, such a beautiful face should have the courtesy to answer as well,” he said sitting down right in front of her.

She said nothing.

Looking into her eyes, he held her chin with the tip of his first two fingers and his thumb. He was inches apart from her face, looking deeply into her eyes. He did not miss the helplessness in them.

“Tomorrow, we are getting married Jannat”, He said as softly as possible to her.

She still did not say anything.

How could she, when he had shut her up with a piece of cloth stuffed inside her mouth? With her hands tied around a chair, in his large and luxurious bedroom with “pink' interiors".
