Why can we see the moon during the day? - An Etiological Story
Long, long ago, when Life on Earth had just begun, Sun and Moon took turns in the sky. During the Day, Sun would rise into the Sky. And during the Night, Moon would show his face. This went on for many years, but finally, Moon grew tired of being neglected. No one ever saw poor Moon, for when he woke, everyone else slumbered. So one Day, far below the Earth, Moon called to Sun and demanded;
βI must have my glory! People will sing my praises! Give me Day, and I will rule it well!β
Sun only laughed and shined all the brighter. Moon was angered that she failed to take his outburst seriously, and he vowed to upset the order of the universe and emerge from his cave during the Day.
He would trick Sun into shining her light on him during the Day. But first, he spoke with the Clouds and convinced them to steer clear of him. He waited until he was the right size, and finally, it was time.
Sun was low in the Sky, and the people admired the cozy, orange glow she cast over the world. Moon crept over the edge of the Earth, but people were too busy praising Sun to notice him. Sadness overtook Moon, and he was about to give up and retreat, but suddenly, a child said,
βLook, what is that?β
One by one, the people who were once gathered around Sun ran to Moon and wondered at his appearance. Sun smiled softly and slipped below the surface of the Earth, but no one took any notice of her. Moon rose higher in the Sky and glowed brighter. The people gazed upon him in adoration, and they knew that this was the Moon. Soon, Moon was joined by his friends, the Stars, and the people stayed awake all Night, gazing upon the beauty of the Moon and Stars.Β
Sun watched this from her palace under the Earth. She was not jealous, for she knew that her friend Moon would soon grow tired of all the attention.Β
Soon it would be Day, and the cycle would begin again.Β

This was so sweet! It seems that many stories like this end with the Moon and the Sun fighting, or not getting along, but this went the opposite way and I loved every second of it. Thank you for this. I will remember it for a while. :)
