With You Again

I am Guatemala Louise and I am a fresh graduate of BA English Language and I didn’t expect that entering the adult world is too hard. These past few days I am really exhausted because no one still hired me and it’s been 2 months since I graduated and came back here in the Philippines. I am now running out of time if still did not hired this month, my Mom will come at me and she will let me handle our business instead but I don’t want it, I want to become independent and while I am resting here in the rest area, my past clouded my mind again.

It’s been seven years since my last relationship and since that day I never been in relationship again. It’s not that no one tried to court me, it just that I am not interested being in relationship again because being in relationship is kind of tiresome and it consume your time so much from overthinking and it is only a pure bullshit. I only said that because my last relationship is not really good. We stayed for almost 4 years but then one day everything changed because of the appearance of another girl. I thought everything’s alright because that girl was Sassy his childhood friend and way back then, I really don’t mind her presence because our relationship is really admirable and everyone says that we are their inspiration to hold their relationship with trust and faith, we are their role model but then he became cold and he became easily irritated to my presence. I thought, it is just normal so I just let it go until two weeks passed, Jenouvert did not contact me and he never showed himself but still I hold on because I thought he was just preparing for our anniversary. It was when our anniversary, I decided to visit him at their house and when I got their house, his Mom told me that he went out with his childhood friend and she told me that maybe they are in the near park so I went there. When I got there, I was about to call him but then my heart break into tiny pieces because they kissed in front of the people in the park and after they kissed, Sassy laughed flirtatiously after receiving a ring from him and then when he carried her to spin, they saw me holding my breath and crying. I did not expect that he will cheat on me that day because it was must be our day but my world crumbled inti pieces. He called my name but I turned and run away that time because I am too hurt and the pain inside my heart is too much to handle. I was running and running and running and then I bumped into our friends. They saw me crying and it seems like they already what happen because I saw in their eyes the sympathy and they hugged me but I pushed them because they whispered in my ears the word that I don’t want to hear from them which is the “I’m sorry”. How dare them to treat me like an idiot. They are trying to reach my hand but I shoved them and run again and then I suddenly felt numb and then I realized I was lying in the street and I am feeling dizzy. I heard different shouts and when I was about to loss consciously, someone lifted me up and when I woke up, I was in hospital and our friends and Sassy and Jenouvert. He was holding my hand tightly, I felt weak and feel horrible because the people around me just betrayed me. When they hear my sobs, they called the Doctor and they are asking if I am okay. The doctor checked me up and after that he said that I need to rest and they need to leave. They are holding back but I just closed my eyes and ignored them until they said that they will be back tomorrow but Jenouvert stayed. He was about to hold my hand again when the door opened and my Mom and Brother rushed over and hugged me and I did not suppress myself from crying anymore. My brother was too furious and he pushed Jenouvert and then punched him. He was about to punched him again when the nurse and passerby stopped him. My brother was still furious and he cursed him. “damn you! I entrusted my sister to you but you end up hurting her! I don’t want to see you near to my sister again! LEAVE!” after my brother shouted, he closed the door and rushed over again to me. He hugged me tightly and saying “everything’s gonna be alright”. I was crying so much until I fall asleep. When I woke up again, my brother is talking angrily again while my Mom is trying to calm him down, when I looked into the corner, my brother is standing while facing my friends including Jenouvert. My brother is making them leave but they don’t want too. He was about to pushed them all when I called him, “Brother, let them in. I need to talk to them. Don’t worry, I will be alright” I said and he rushed beside and whispered “are you sure? I will never forgive them” he said but I smiled to him. “just give us 3 minutes to talk” I told him and after that, he went out with my Mom. They all went in and 1 minute passed no one still tried to talk and they are all looking at their feet. “I trusted you all, I thought you guys are my friends but I was wrong. You all betrayed me. Especially you Jenouvert, I love you so much but you cheated on me and worst you made me look stupid. I can’t imagine my life without you guys, but enough! I am so damn hurt. This pain inside me is killing me. I need time and space to accept this situation. So, please don’t you ever contact me again and Jenouvert, just let me say this to decrease the pain even just a little, let’s break up” I said to them. I can see and hear their sobs but I ignored and decided to looked away because, looking at them hurts me more. “please leave!” I said again and then I heard their cries loudly, they still don’t want to leave and that’s why I shouted loudly “PLEASE LEAVE! I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOU ANYMORE”. They are pleading to me to listen to them but then my brother came in and shoved them away. After that day, I was discharged and my brother and my mom decided to transfer me into other school in California.

After resting I went out and I decided to call my brother and when I am pressing the call button, I bumped into someone and my phone fall in the ground. “Damn! I just bought this phone” “I’m sorry miss, are you alright?” the man said and when I looked at him, shocked is written in our face. “Guatemala”/”Jenouvert” we said in unison. I can’t believe it. It’s been a long year since I last saw him and he became more manly than before. I tried to feel myself but I did not feel anything. “Long time no see” he said and I only smiled at him because I don’t really know how should I react and respond. “hmm… if you are not busy, can we catch up?” he asked and I was about to answer when someone called me. I turned and looked around when I saw Kevin waving his hand at me. Kevin is the closest friend of my brother. I also waved at him and then he rushed over and get my handbag “your brother called me and he requested to fetch you. Let’s go” he said while staring and smiling at me. He was about to dragged me when Jenouvert grabbed my hand also and that is the reason why Kevin looked into him. “Can you please let her go man? We really need to go” Kevin said and irritation are written all over his face. Kevin is short-tempered person but luckily when it comes to me, his patience is very long. “Can’t you see? We were talking a while ago then suddenly you called her out. Show some respect man” Jenouvert said while smirking. Kevin is about to lose his patience when I squeezed his hand and then I looked to Jenouvert “I’m sorry but we really need to go” I said calmly to him. They are both staring each other when I sigh “alright, enough guys. You both looked like murdering someone. Hmm Jenouvert, maybe next time let’s catch up and Kevin stop glaring at him. Please both of you let go of my hand” after I said that, they both let go of my hand. “yes, next time. I’ll wait” Jenouvert said. I just waved at him and dragged Kevin. Kevin is still murmuring when I pinched his face “ouch! By the way, who’s that guy?” he asked while caressing his cheeks. “Hmm… he is my ex-boyfriend” I said and rushed over to his car. When we got home, Kevin rushed to my brother and told what happen. My brother is laughing hard until he heard the name Jenouvert and he suddenly rushed to me while still looking serious. “Baby sis, don’t you ever see that damn person again. Okay?” he said while combing my hair. I only smile at him and went to my room to sleep.

The following days, we never bumped to each other again and I just got hired Yesterday and Today is first day at my work as a Secretary of the new CEO of JV Empire. I am with a bright smile in my face when someone bumped into me. I am too happy to be upset so this day, I just let it go. I apologize without looking to that person and I continuously walk until I entered the elevator. When I am in my respective desk, my smile is still plastered in my face. When I heard my co-employee greet new comer, I stand up and flashed my smile and greet the person also and when I looked at him, my eyes widened because it was Jenouvert. Jenouvert also greeted me with seriousness. He entered his office and his bodyguards goes to their respective places. I was still in awe when he called me through intercom. I entered his office with the schedules in my hand. “what can I do for you sir?” I asked politely to him. “seriously? You’re asking me that? Don’t you know the work of secretary? You should serve me a coffee and tell my schedule for today. I can’t believe that my company hired an incompetent employee like you” he said. I am still in dazed for what he said but I apologize and make coffee for him and then I told him his schedule. After that, I was about to leave his office when he called me again “Ms. Loiuse, the next time you made a mistake, I will not hesitant to fire you. You may go” after he said that, I leave his office. I can’t believe it. I think, I am not suitable here. I need to resigned immediately but I already signed the contract and if I leave now, the contract will be breached and he might sue me. What should I do? While thinking a way to out this situation, there are many employees who entered the office and when they left the office, they are all looking down and some are sobbing. I think the boss is in a foul mood. Until it’s evening, I was preparing to leave and when I got my belongings I decided to go home. While waiting for my brother to fetch me, a car suddenly stopped in front of me. I decided to move in the side while trying reach out my brother and then suddenly my phone battery went out. I am murmuring went someone spoke behind me. “Guatemala, what are you still doing here?” Jenouvert said. “I am waiting for my brother to fetch me, Sir” I responded. Jenouvert clear his throat “no need to be formal Guatemala” he said while scratching his back head. “Hmm… if you don’t mind, can we talk? I just really need to say something to you. It is really important” he said. I am curious to what will he say so I agreed to him but before that, I borrowed his phone to text my brother and after that we go to famous and luxury restaurant. While waiting for the food he cleared his throat again and spoke. “hmm… first, I’m sorry about what happen a while ago. I was just in foul mood” he said. “it’s okay, it is also my mistake” I said then drink some water. “let me call you ‘Gua’ again okay?” he said while looking straight at me. “Gua, I was not given a chance to explain to you before but now I will not let go this opportunity, Gua, I am really sorry before. Yes, I cheated on you but it was also for your sake” he said and suddenly my anger arose. “for my sake? What the hell are you talking about?! You cheated on me and our friends betrayed me. you all neglected me” I angrily said. Jenouvert hold my hand “please! Let me finish what I am telling you first” he said and his eyes are teary. I calmed myself and decided to listen to him. “It was not our intention to hurt you, but it is the only way. Sassy threaten us and we are still young before, I was afraid on what she will do to you. She’s mentally ill and her mother asked me to looked for her. I was so frustrated to that time because I don’t know what to do. I was about to seek for help to our friends but then they told me that she threatened them also and they are afraid. She intended to kill you, but I stopped her through doing the things she asked me for. It was her request when you saw us in the park, your accident is also her doing” he said while wiping his tears that came out into his eyes. Everything flashback into me and I did not stop myself from crying. We cried both until our dinner came. Everything feels surreal. We ate quietly while holding back our tears. when we are done eating, we decided to stroll around for a bit and when we saw a bench, we decided to sit down. “Gua, please give me a chance to prove myself again. I still love you. Please give me a chance” he said while holding my hand tightly. “let me think first” I said to him. “okay but let me hug you” he requested and I let him hug me. He drove me home and I went straight to my room.

 The next morning, I walked happily and went straight to my desk. I decided to give him a chance again. While fixing the things in my desk, a commotion suddenly occupied the hallway. There is a beautiful woman shouting and to my curiosity I went over there but to my surprised the beautiful woman rushed to me when she saw me. She suddenly pulled my hair and scratching my face “stop it. ouch!” I said but the woman still pulling my hair. “how dare you seduced my man, he’s mine!” she repeatedly shouts then suddenly there is a strong arm wrapped in my waist then pulled me behind his back. “enough sassy! I am not your man” Jenouvert angrily said while covering me and his buddy guards hold Sassy. “let me go” Sassy’s shout. While she’s shouting, I decided to defend myself and came forward. Jenouvent hold my hand but I looked at him “I’ll be okay, you are here. Just let me talk to her” I said calmly to him. So, he let go of my hand and the buddy guards also let her go. While she’s fixing her dress, I started to talk “Sassy, I knew everything now. I’ll forgive you but please let my man go. He’s mine from the start. You just threaten him before even our friends” I calmly said but then she laughs loudly and then suddenly she pulled out something in her bag and run towards me. I was shocked and I felt something hot in my belly and when I looked at it, blood covers my dress and my hand. Jenouvert shouts loudly and before I lost consciousness, I heard that Jenouvert instructed everyone to call an ambulance and he ordered his buddy guard to do not let go Sassy. When I woke up, I am in hospital. Everything feels familiar. When I looked around my Mom and my Brother also here. I move my hand to wake the man holding my hand and when he looked, he suddenly stands up and call a doctor. The doctor said, I just need rest and all of them feel relieved. I keep looking at my brother and Jenouvert when I heard my brother sighed. “Baby sis, he already told me everything and that darn woman is in mental hospital now. No need to worry everything again” he said and after that day, Jenouvert and I become lovers again and sweeter than before.
