Grrrrr! Stop making noise!! Gosh, I hate all my brothers and sisters. If I could see I would claw their eyes out, but I'm not old enough. I'm at the stage where I can't open my eyes. It happens for the first 2 weeks of a cat's life (also my baby claws are uselessly blunt). I'm really excited about opening my eyes!! I wonder if things will look weird and scary.

I was born from a big litter so I can't really drink milk as much as the other kittens because it's so pushy when everyone is hungry, So I like to wander. Because I can't see, I don't usually go far. Mother Cat keeps an eye on me because she thinks I'm unique. So when I go too far, she grabs me and puts me in front of her chest so I can eat. I get a little grumpy when she does this because I like to explore, but after I've had a little milk, I calm down.

It's been about a week and a half since I was born and I suddenly started to feel a mild stinging in my eyes. "It can't be!" I said to myself. "It's too early!" The stinging went away but my eyes started to feel uncomfortable. I tried lifting my eyelids but it was a little hard. Eventually, with all my might, my eyelids bounced off my eyeballs. "Mew!!" I screeched in amazement. I'm in backyard heaven! It has a huge space and tall trees, each strand of grass perfectly cut and grown to grant every gardeners wishes. Each tree was one of a kind, even though some were of the same species. Every single cat's desire was in this very garden. There were small tight spaces to squeeze in and hide under, a huge scratching post in the corner of the garden in front of a hole in the fence, and small rocks and benches to climb on!

The best part of the garden was a beautiful fountain in the very middle, with clean flowing water, and singing birds perching on it to have a little sip of water.

I turned around to tell Mother Cat, I saw her feeding my brothers and sisters. I noticed that she had a sparkling collar with a pink tag dangling below it. On the tag, it said: Matilda. next to her, there were a dozen small bowls lined up in a jagged row. I walked up to the bowls to read what was on them. When I passed Mother Cat, she noticed my eyes were opened. On each bowl were carvings of words painted in gold. I read each name in my head:

Merry, Charlie, Belle, Scruffy, Peanut, Fluffy, Daisy, Félix, Fur Ball, and finally Chocolate.

The one Mother cat was drinking from was a big bowl on the end of the line with pink words, not gold.

It read: Matilda.

I heard a creek at the door and I saw someone walking onto the veranda. Like any other Cat would do, I hid behind a leaf. This wasn't a good Idea since the person could see me. Well, I tried. "Matilda!" She yelled out. Mother Cat came pouncing at the person, meowing. "Now now settle down Matilda. Go to your bowl and I'll give you your food" Mother Cat ran to the bowl with Matilda carved into it and the person pored Cat food into it. "how do you eat so fast?" The person turned to my direction and started walking to me.

"Wow! Your eyes flew open fast! Hey there, I'm Lauren." Scared, I backed away and quietly meowed. "You must be shy, little one. I'm going to go to the dogs now so stay with Matild...uhh your mum" I am really confused. The dogs? What dogs?

She walked out the door and all my sibling started playing with each other. I thought she might be crazy so I tried to blow it off. Every once in a while she would come through the brass-wood door and pour food into the bowl Mother Cat eats from. Days past and all my brothers and sisters opened their eyes. My curiosity grew. I've been thinking of Lauren and "the dogs" all week. I tried going through the door, but Mother Cat keeps catching me, so I made a brilliant plan.

Waking up to darkness, I needed to adjust. It didn't take long, mostly because cats can see in the dark. Every cat was sleeping so I needed to be quiet. Good thing my paws are covered in fur. I timed this night just right. During the day, there was a lot of people behind the door. I don't know why, but I do know that Lauren would be very tired. Being so oblivious, she forgot to close the door completely, leaving a small space for me to squeeze into. Once I get inside, I would search for the dogs.

I walk up to the crack in the door and slide through it. There are cages of birds making such a rucas I can't believe I didn't hear them before. But there's some sort of...urge...that's making me stare at them...three seconds later I jumped at them without thinking. I come down with a thud. But so does the cage.

Cage after cage after cage topples to the floor as the cage doors bang open. The birds fly out of the cage doors and blindly fly around trying to get outside. Some birds go through the crack I got into and fly over the trees never to be seen again.

I was so startled I ran to the nearest door(which was also open). I looked behind me and there were the dogs! At first, I was excited...but then... really scared. All different breed of dogs were growling at me, well, all but one. There was a greyhound sleeping just around a meter away from all the other dogs. I slowly backed away and hit the door. The growling and barkings are getting louder the closer they got. I thought I was a goner but then there was a loud CHOMP! one of the dogs yelped and whimpered they backed away to reveal the greyhound which was also growling, but not at me. It seemed like he was growling at the other dogs! The dogs backed away and the greyhound came up to me. He pushed me with his snout out the door and used his head to push it closed. It turns out the lady that feeds Mother Cat was there freaking out about all the birdcages everywhere. I had just enough time to run through the door with a crack in it without Lauren seeing me.

All the cats were sleeping so peacefully like nothing happened. I sat next to Mother Cat who was fast asleep.

That was crazy! I don't think I'll ever to that again. But I do wonder, are there any more animals here?
