IS IT NOW IN THE PAST?

Cleo opened her eyes and leap up from the bed as she remembers that it’s holiday and her school holiday will start today but that’s not the most exciting thing about this holiday but the fact that it will be her last as she will be graduating from secondary and proceed to the university very soon.

She quickly entered the bathroom and brush her teeth then took a hot shower and left to pack her things, when she came out to the school park she saw her brother waiting for her already to take her home. She smiled happily and walk towards him happily as she place her things in the car and entered then her brother start the car and their journey back home. The scene made Cleo remind Cleo of the first time her brother came to pick her up in school for holiday. Normally, her mother will be the one to come but that day she was so surprised but due to the things her brother bought along she overlooked it and just hop into the car.

It happened several summers ago but the incident is still very fresh in her memory. After some few minutes into their journey, she asked about their mother but her brother ignored it. Cleo was very excited to see their mother because she intended to show her mother how much she has improved in her studies and how much better her result was. She even called her on her birthday a week ago but she didn’t pick her calls so she sang for her instead and celebrate it on her own. 

Her bother avoided the question and drop off one of her friends in her house then continue the journey home. Just before they get home is Cleo’s mother shop so as they passed the shop Cleo was excepting to see her mother waiting there but the shop was closed which makes her more curious. She tap her brother again but he ignored her and continue driving. Cleo calm down and wait till they get home while she continued to press the phone. 

On getting home, her brother packed outside and then forgetting to pick her bags Cleo rush inside and saw lots of people In her house. Not only were there strangers but also had this kind of pity on their face as they saw her. Cleo saw a dig place in the parking lot and questioned for the reason why it is there but no one gave her any respond so she head inside angrily but stopped and smiled when she saw her younger sister who came to hug her. Cleo hugged her back and turn to her elder sister who is standing just beside them.

Cleo moved closer to her and asked where their mother is but she gave her a bitter smiled and try to escape the question. Cleo rush upstairs to her mother’s room but her mother was nowhere to be found, she rush back downstairs and met her dad. She greeted him and he instruct her to go have something to eat first and change out of her uniform. Cleo hesitated but still went to change her clothes, after changing she felt more uncomfortable and demand to see her mother. She turn to her sister and asked to see their mother

Seeing that she wouldn't listen, her sister led her outside to the parking lot and point to the ground that was dug and points at it. “your mom is there” she said. Cleo turn to her angry and with fear asked “are you crazy?” her sister smiled and said

“mom is dead” Cleo stood still and its felt like her brain has stopped working all she could hear is her twins sister falling down beside before she went wild with tears and she was held by people around, all that was in head was “dead? Dead? How? Why? How possible?” she rolled on the floor crying bitterly and after sometimes, she calmed down not believing what she just heard and standing up, she head to her mom’s room and entered then closed the door after her. She checked the room and nothing was missing, the room looks normal and nothing seems wrong but can they all play with her about something so serious? She slowly go down as she rests on her mother’s wardrobe and cried more bitterly. She cried till she has no strength and that’s when she realized that people are outside at the door knocking, she slowly get up and open the door and her sister and dad entered and lead her downstairs to her room

She got there and was made to sit down on the bed while someone keep an eye on her then she remembered that she has to change and entered the bathroom. Coming out, she asked about what happened and her sister explained that it was a car accident. She was on her way to get some goods somewhere but the car had an accident and she was rushed to the hospital where she died. The talk continued but Cleo wasn’t listening anymore, different kind of thought run through her mind especially the evil ones then people start entering telling her different kind of consolation stories. Cleo cried more and even start laughing at some point, everything looks and sound funny to her. The time was near Easter and Cleo thought maybe God wants to do another miracle by raising her mother again on Easter she wished and cried earnestly for that an even tried to dig out the corpse to see for sure but after days, nothing happened. Her father called her and talked and talked. The holiday was short and after another few days, it was time ti return back to school. So she wont feel depressed she and her siblings find a new hobby, to watch Korea movies and dramas

On returning to school, she told her friends and they sympathize with her and everyone advised and tried to make her happy with many things.

Her brother pull up in front of the house and Cleo wipe the tears that fell from her tear unconsciously. she carried her bags inside her room. She saw her sisters, brothers and dad in the house waiting for her and rush to greet them. They also smiled and were happy to see her soon they start to take about things

Although everyone felt their mother’s absence but they all decide to move on and continue to live but “IS IT NOW IN THE PAST?”
