Past Hauntings

All of us have our past or past stories that are unforgettable. For some it can be beautiful ,cherish able memories while for some it can wreck havoc in their lives be it present or future. We always hear people say let the past be in the past or Let the by gones be by gone. Think about your future. Aren’t we all familiar about this? But what if a person is stuck in his/her past and the sad part is they can never move on. There are so many of them who still struggle to get over their terrible experiences. It’s like a fresh wound every time they think about it. It goes the same with my sister Lara. Once she told me about an incident that took place with her best friend name Ana that has had a great impact on her and her life. Lara knew her since high school they were quite comfortable with each other. I remember her telling me that Ana used to be lost in her own thoughts. One day when Lara called her up, someone else had received the call and told her that Ana was not at home. Whenever Lara asked her about the person who used to pick up her calls ,she would smile and divert everyone’s attention towards something else instead. It was on August 18 , the night that can never be forgotten I remember my sisters life had changed completely after that and that thing still haunts her. Her friend Ana was in an abusive relationship with her father rather I should say her stepfather who didn’t like her at all . Everyone will be thinking , what’s the so great about this there are many such occurrences, even I thought the same but my sister told me , we can never understand the pain the person is going through until we are in that situation. We can never get in anyone’s shoe. Anyways ,Lara also told me that her stepdad used to torture her everyday for some random stuff. One day she was just doing her everyday activities cleaning followed by completing her school homework as usual her step dad with a rush of anger and his face turned red entered the room and started misbehaving with her and started assaulting her. He used to torture her physically as well as mentally , that affected her performance badly . From being an excellent student she became an average one. She started loosing interest in studies. This continued for about 5-6 months , when she finally decided to escape . I quickly asked a question to my sister , probably the same one that must have crossed your mind too. Where was her mother ,what about her siblings? She told me that Ana’s mother was a full time nurse , and even though she was not full time she worked on a shift based schedule . Ana also had a sister her name was Megan, she had settled in abroad. Ana never told them as she didn’t want to bother them. Ana had executed her plan perfectly but they all went in vain. She couldn’t escape as her stepdad had known all this while about everything she had been planning, he was spying on her. I also remember Lisa telling me that Ana was locked in the closet of her room with no food and water for one whole day this was not the end to her troubled life as this used to occur for several days. She had marks all over her body. It was that night that changed both Ana’s and Lisa’s life better for one and for worse for the later. Ana’s stepdad came home drunk and as always started to hit her , harass her and even slammed her on the door. She couldn’t bear all of this, she took the courage and ran towards the kitchen , her dad followed her , in a fist of anger she took a knife from the shelf as he was approaching near and stabbed him . I still cant get over the picture of Lisa telling me this and sobbing badly, her tears would just not stop , she was starting to loose her mind. As she continued she told me that she tried consoling Ana , she tried to keep her calm but Ana ran and locked herself in her room. Seeing all of this Lisa panicked. She ran out to ask for help, she had called the neighbors living nearby. When they all rushed inside and tried to open the door they saw something devastating,. Lisa was speechless and numb, people were yelling at her but she was not able to answer them . Ana had slit her wrist . There was darkness surrounding Lisa at that moment She even told me about a note that Ana had left behind before committing suicide and the worst part is that she still has it . It read , Dear Lisa , thank you for always being there for me . You were the best person I have ever had. I feel so free now and I will be at peace . I can now live with freedom and all my pain has gone . Hope to see you too on the other side of the world soon . Always stay happy Love Ana This still gives her the chills . Till today Lisa cannot forget about the incident . She sees flashes of them every time in front of her. Even today it haunts her she always tries to come out of it but she can never. It has retained deep down in her and now its part of her. I don’t know if shell ever be the normal Lisa we knew again. So you see , sometimes such things have deep and great impact in our lives , it doesn’t only affect her but also her family. Even if she’s happy it’s not for long as her happiness Is short lived . I have no idea when she will start to be normal again . Hopefully she gets over this and start living a healthy and a life full of happiness
