The forgotten boy.

Okay, so I’ll admit. I wasn't the most popular boy in highschool.My biggest problem is that I’m smart. The whole school thinks I’m a nerd because I get all As. What's funny? I don't care. I was your typical nerd who had a crush on the most popular girl. Emily. Emily has been my friend since kindergarten but now, she just ignores me. My name is Tommy. Tommy Berkley. 

“Tommy!” my best and only friend calls out. “Oh hey Henry!” I reply turning around. “OUCH” I yell, wincing in pain as my head hits my locker again. I can hear everyone laughing and whispering as Henry runs up to me. “Oof Henry, are you okay?” and he helps me up. “Yeah! Im fine” fighting my instinct on touching the big bump on my head. “Okay but anyways, look!” Henry says dismissing the conversation and shoving tickets in my face. “What's that?” I ask, getting a little bit curious. “You dummy, you still haven't heard?? Prom!! And I got four tickets.” Henry says and hands me two tickets. “Wow, thanks Henry, but who am I gonna take? No one's gonna want to take ToiletTommy.” I ask him, making a face. “You can ask Emily!! Come on, you’ve had a crush on her since like second grade” and hits me in the back. Hard. Did I mention when Henry gets excited or happy, he starts hitting people and people meaning me. “OOF. First of OW and second of all NO WAY EMILY IS GONNA SAY YES.” I yell, raising my voice. Suddenly I have feel 20 pairs of eyes on me. “Ssh Tommy, stop being weird. You can ask her at prom! I heard she doesn't have a date yet!” Feeling unsure about it I nodded my head absently and walked out the school.

Finally. School is done and its the weekend! I thought, sighing in

relief. “TOMMY WAIT FOR ME” I hear Henry yelling, gasping for air. Turning around slowly finding Henry right behind me. “You were right behind me, why’d you have to yell?” I am a bit annoyed. “PROM!” he says pulling out his water bottle and taking a big gulp. Suddenly, the conversation and all the prom details fled back to me. “Uhm so yeah, I'm not going.” I told Henry bluntly and started walking again. “Why?? You seemed so excited” Henry inquired walking right beside me. “No Henry, you seemed excited not me and plus, I have no date, I have nothing to wear, and I have no ride.” I said listing out each reason on each finger. “Come on! It's gonna be fun!!” Henry said whining. “Fine,fine. Just stop whining.” Walking in silence, I finally see my house. “Bye Henry!” I said and opened the door with my key. “Bye Tommy! THINK ABOUT IT!” Henry said running to his house, which was four houses away from mine. “Think about what Tommy?” my mom asked me. Surprised, I turned around quickly, only to face my mom holding a laundry basket. “Oh nothing Mom.” I said almost instantly dismissing the conversation. Turning to the kitchen, I grab an apple and go to my room. As I take off my bookbag, I hear footsteps coming up the stairs. Only a second later, my mom opens the door. “Tommy, can you babysit your sister if you’re free today?” “IM BUSY” I blurt out without thinking. “Doing what?” my mom asked, raising an eyebrow. “I'm going to prom..’ I say weakly. Hey, you can't blame me!! Babysitting my sister is terrible and horrible. “Oh..OH!” my mom says half squealing! She rushed to her room and came back with a suit. “This should fit you perfectly! I’ve been waiting for this time to come.” “T-thanks mom” I say as I pull out my phone. What time is prom? I text Henry and almost instantly I get a response. Starts at 7:30. Great. I have a half an hour.

“Henry!!” I call out as I see my mom drive away. “Tommy! YES you came!” he says dancing around. “Yep I came..” I say weakly and walk in with him. Looking around, I see almost the whole school in the gymnasium. Suddenly, I see her. “Hey look dude! It's Emily!” Henry also spotted Emily. “I know.. She looks absolutely stunning..” I mumble in awe. As Henry and I go find a table I see a girl walking up to Henry. “Hey~” she says to Henry. “Hey Katie! Tommy, meet my date, Kate.” Henry says to me. ‘H-hey!” I say but Kate ignores me. “Im gonna go get some punch, want some?” Katie askes Henry. “Yes please!” he answers and she walks away. “You have a date??” I ask in astonishment. “Yep! I thought I told you? Must have slipped my mind.” Henry said smiling slyly. “Time to ask your date” Henry says pointing at Emily. “Stop pointing she may see!” I say blushing. Suddenly, a slow song comes on and all the couples start slow-dancing. Emily doesn't move as her friends go. “Looks like she doesn't have a date! Go, now's the perfect time. Any longer and prom will be over and you will be known as the dateless boy!!” Henry says pushing me again but harder. “I’ll be known as what? You just over exaggerating” turning my attention back to Emily. Suddenly, my legs move by themselves. As if almost instantly, I’m right next to her. “Uhm Hi?” Emily says looking up slowly. “U-u-uhm h-h-hi.” I say stammering. “Would you like to d-dance?” I say pulling myself together. Emily looks blankly at me and she says “Do I know you cause it's kinda weird a stranger asking me to dance.” as Brady walks up to her. “Hey Emily. Wanna dance?” he says. Emily replying instantly says “Sure! This weirdo was asking me to dance, even though I never met him” laughing as Brady leads her away. Looking around, I see Henry and Kate dancing aswell. Heartbroken, I walk out the school. So much for prom, she doesnt even remeber me.
