The Dare

Daisy was sitting in her bedroom reading a horror novel. It was nightime. She looked outside the window it was a full moon. It wss looking so lovely. A few dark clouds could also be seen. In front of it. It looked like it would raining anytime soon. Cold wind was blowing.

Suddenly her mobile rang she picked up. It was her friend Betty. " Hey daisy the local club is sponsoring a dare event. In which u have to enter the abandoned supposedly haunted fort of river dale at midnight " Betty said. " Oh my God that's scary " said Daisy. " Come on don't be a nincampoop its worth 2000 $ prize money , don't tell me you r scared n believe in stupid ghosts " Betty said.

" But then too u know betty its a dangerous place. Some legends n stories are associated with it. Some evil spirit lurks there all old men say. We should not disregard this for some contest " Daisy told Betty over the phone. 

" Listen if you win u get 2000$ that's lot of money. If u dont get scholarship this year then this money you can use for your lawyer college fees " Betty said.

" Okay so what I have to do " asked Daisy. " Daisy had a bad feeling about this but she was in two minds n needed the money. " Meet me at the college grounds. There will be a group there of people who r participating. Line by line we have to go up " Betty told Daisy.

" Okay I'm meeting you at 12 o clock now I'm coming to see you at the grounds " said Betty n rushed to collect her coat as it was a chill night. " Okay mom I'm going " daisy told her mother. " Where u going at this time of night " her mother asked. " Betty told me about some dare contest on that abandoned fort. One has to go to the top n come back at midinghy. Its a life n death contest stake n I'm participating in it for the prize money " Daisy told her mother. " Dont be a fool child its not some rumour, that fort is truly haunted. Just go to sleep. Don't play with such things " her mother warned her. " But mom other people would be there too n what if I succeed in going up then the money's mine " Daisy argued. " But inside that dark fort in middle of the night you'll be alone with no one to help or hear you. Remember this " her mother said.

" Don't worry nothing will happen I'm going " Daisy said n ran.

After reaching the grounds she saw a group of only four people. All of them looked like a very bad idea to Daisy. Betty came running towards her. " I knew u would come. The contest will start now " Betty said. The contest dare started.

First blonde guy went up the fort. All of them waited for him to come back. After ten minutes he returned. " What happened " asked the tatooed head. " Its too scary i just could not built up the courage to go up " the blonde guy said. Now it was Daisys turn to go up. " See it was easy i told you " Betty told Daisy. " Are u mad. That guy just returned saying he did not found It safe to go up. And look at the time its midnight. At this time all paranormal activities start u know that ok " Daisy shouted. The tatooed head of the contest came towards Daisy n said " So i hope u r going up its u next. " It was half past 12 in the night. The head of the group again told Daisy " now its your turn to go up n all the best " n Daisy started walking slowly towards thee fort. She was in a dazed stupor of fright. The daunting fort was looking so spooky n forbidding. Her body was full of goosebumps and she started shivering. " This was not such a good idea " Daisy thought. But it was too late now to return back. Slowly she started walking with the flashlight in her hand. Suddenly she heard a sound of a faint sinister laughter. Daisy thought of running back but was too scared to do that too now. So she kept climbing.

When she reached the first floor. Only two more floors were there. " Oh no i miss my mother and Betty what did i got myself into this horrible life n death dare contest. I should not have listened to silly betty " Daisy said. She felt so alone n cold in the dark there. N not to mistake the presence of someone following her up the stairs. Daisy started trembling out of fear.

But then she saw a huge black shadow. It was real not her imagination. It was coming towards her n went it reached her. What Daisy saw made her heart stop n she fell down.

The contest crew were waiting down. It was more then two hours n there was no sign of Daisy do so they all rushed inside n saw daisy lying on the floor with her wide eyes open. Betty started screaming " she's dead. She must have encountered that ghost here. " " Wait a minute I hear some pulse she's just unconscious the head said n they took her out.

The head of the contest said " thank God we got a sign of never playing such daring contest on such haunted sites. And we will stick to it. Let's always play safe n good games. Who knows what exactly Daisy saw up there which made her loose consciousness. " " Lets take her to the hospital all will be allright ok " " And whose her friend here " he asked. Betty came forward. She was crying " this was all my fault i should not have told her to enter this contest only " Betty said. The head told "inform her mother n don't blame itself . She will be fine. "

While all this was happening from the fort window a tall black shadow of a man was looking out at them with a maniacal smile on his face.
