Elementals Under The World (Part 1)

In three seconds, he had disappeared.

Phoenix gasped as Aster’s face melted from the world. Cascade lunged forward, as if to grab him, but failed. Gale was already halfway done drawing a Gripping Spell. Only Hunter looked unconcerned and bored, like always.

“Aster!”

Gale quit drawing and ran over to the spot where Aster was standing. Cascade was already on the ground, looking for clues.

“He was right here. You can’t just-y’know, magically vanish!”

“Yeah, but then where did he go?”

“What other explanation is there?”

Cascade jumped as Hunter spoke. Gale stared at him.

“I'm afraid i don’t get what you mean.”

“I mean, what else can be the explanation? How dim can you get?”

Gale shook his head.

“Explain, please. Apparently this dim-witted fool doesn’t get it.”

Hunter snorted.

“Aster vanished. There, I explained it.”

“Wow, so detailed.”

Hunter had just opened his mouth when the ground collapsed. The last thing that they both heard was Phoenix’s scream.

“Wake up.”

Gale gasped and forced his eyes open. He was in a room, and as his brain slowly turned on, he became painfully aware that he was bleeding, in many different places.

He tried to talk.

“Urghablrughhheeugh.”

Nuts.

His eyes adjusted to the room, and Gale saw a cloaked figure, standing up and looking somewhere.

Suddenly high on edge, he stood up and walked closer to the figure, trying to see it’s face.

Then they turned around.

All the air was knocked out of him as Gale clutched at an invisible lifeline, desperate to save himself from slowly choking to death. Then he remembered that he was a freaking elemental.

He drew a Hurricane Spell.

The figure stumbled off him and cursed in what seemed to be German, Russian, and Italian, all in one sentence.

“W-w-w-ho ar-r-e y-ou?”

So he still couldn’t talk. Great.

“You really are curious, hmm?”

They sounded angry.

Gale decided to trust his gut.

“I’m Gale Windsong. Who are you?”

Hunter landed on his feet, feeling something break, and falling onto his face.

“Ow!”

He had landed in…

“Great, a maze. WITH A DANG BROKEN FOOT!”

He made himself breath, then stood up.

Bad idea.

“Ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch!”

Hunter decided that he would stay on the ground.

He raised his hand, and sucked in some of the darkness around him. Immediately, he could see much better. 

“Are you okay?”

“Yes, Soul.”

A tiny ghost had popped into the air beside him, hovering above him in concern.

“You have a scar on your face, you seem to have broken your ankle, and have a mild concussion. I would not call that fine.”

“Shut up, I’m fine.”

“Hmpf, if you say so.”

Hunter wrapped the darkness around his ankle, and stood up. He managed to walk around the long, damp, and moldy maze for about five minutes. Then the dizziness started taking its toll.

“U-ugh- why is the world- spinning…?”

He slumped against the wall for five minutes, then pushed himself to get up.

Walking along the maze, he couldn’t really see where he was going as pain was hitting him left and right. It burned like fire, gripping him and rendering him immovable.

Worse of all, his ankle gave up on him.

Collapsing to the disgusting floor, Hunter saw the world spin, then felt spiders crawling all over him, which then turned into snakes, then to millions of tiny lasers. 

Then the lasers all blasted him.

A girl in the maze clutched her ears as Hunter’s piercing screech filled the cavern. 

An avalanche of rocks rushed towards her.

She drew something in the air, then started running towards the rocks. A pair of heartbeats later, the rocks exploded, and the girl rushed into the other direction, where she heard the scream.

“Finally, someone.”

She grinned, and the wall exploded.

Water, water, water…

Cascade was seven again, playing in the pool that her mom and dad made for her, splashing in the cool water.

“Mrs. Unicorn, you can’t defeat me!”

“Yes I can, with the power of friendship and water!”

Cascade threw the action figure into the water, and laughed happily as she moved Mrs. Unicorn to her friends, and they all celebrated. The water seemed to be celebrating too, jumping up and down in the most peculiar pattern, weaving itself into unique shapes and bursting like fireworks.

“La la la~”

Cascade giggled as she made the water carry her out of the tub and into the house. Once she got in though, her parents were not downstairs, for some reason.

“Mama? Papa? I have a surprise!”

“Hello?”

Concerned, she ran upstairs, and-

“RUN! CAS, RUN!”

Her mama and papa were in an evil stranger's hands!

Cascade could only scream as the people she loved the most got taken away.

“AH! MAMA!”

The glass broke, and silence fell.

Then Cascade’s eyes started glowing, and the vase next to her broke. Then water started rising and engulfed her, raising her up and into the sky. She murmured some words:

“I’ll get you back, mama.”

Then Cascade jolted up from her position on the floor.

She was still twelve, still had her bead chain, still confused about where she was, and desperate to find her friends.

And apparently the world’s prettiest boy- or girl, she couldn't tell, was standing beside her, dozing.

“Hello? Will you mind telling me where we are?”

They made no reply.

Cascade rolled her neck and turned on her side, falling asleep too.

That seems like a *yawn* good idea…

Meanwhile, a red-haired girl(Phoenix) was getting tortured.

“AAH! STOP, PLEASE, THE PAIN, THE AGONY!”

“Tell us where the boy went.”

“ASTER? I DON’T KNOW! PLEASE, I SWEAR! LET ME GO!”

“Give her more.”

Bloodcurdling screams were the reply.
