The New Order(10): Confusion, Hurt, And The Questioning

Unfortunately, this story is not related to the prompt. After reviewing this weeks prompts, it grew a bit difficult to tie this story to one. The next ones I assure you, will be however.

Rivinian's P.O.V

I pulled my fingers through my hair, seeing a growing puddle of tears. "Rex.." I choked. "Why- wh.. Who would.." I hid my face in my arms.

I guess I can cry.

Kennedy's P.O.V

I pulled the chair out from underneath the table, sitting down as the officer tidied up the papers. She seemed pretty focused about it. I blink before letting out a quiet breath. "You wanted to speak to me?" I asked, meeting her eyes. Her eyes widened, startled, before she looked at me. She blinked a few times.

"Oh-" She replied. "Yes, yes." She says, setting the papers down. The papers left their organization. Her eye twitched and she grumbled to herself. "Nevermind." She said a moment later. She sighs, looking at me. "You're Elijah Kennedy, yes?" I inhaled deeply.

"I go by Eli, but yes." She blinked before nodding in response. 

"Okay, Eli." She replies, reading a couple of the papers. "I'm Hannah." I nod, forcing a tiny smile. "I brought you here to discuss Karie Smith." Hannah glances up at me. I raise a brow.

"..Karie?" She stares at me.

"Yes. Karie." Hannah pauses. "Aren't the two of you friend-" My eyes widen. I felt a bit of bile climb up my throat.

"His name's Rex, ma'am." I say covering my mouth. Her eyes widen. 

"Wh- shit." She lets out a long sigh. "I apologize. Rex." She looks back at me. "The two of you are friends, how often do you see him?" I nod a little.

"Right. Yes." I let out another sigh, combing a hand through my hair. "I see him whenever I meet with Ky. He's more of a friendly acquaintance, if I'm going to be honest." Hannah rose a brow before nodding. 

"Okay, if it's alright with you I'll ask a few more questions…."

Harris's P.O.V

I sat there staring at the group of people. Ky and Rex's parents were talking with the police officers, answering questions about Rex. The more I listened to them, the more I got to know Rex. I've only met him a couple times. He seemed a bit closed off, but I knew he loved Ky.

And now I know his favorite color is neon green, he has a YouTube channel called Hollowed where he writes song lyrics and does song covers. He camps with his other friends every Friday night, he hangs out with Ky every Sunday and they have a movie night. He loves Blizzards, flowers and-

I tightly hold my wrist. I felt my eyes water. I know so much more about him, and I'm not sure if I want too. I already felt bad, knowing my friend's friend lost a loved one, but now- now I know him better. And it hurts, it hurts a lot more than I thought it would. 

I bit my tongue, looking at the ground. I heard footsteps coming my way, I waited a bit before looking up. It was one of the officers previously talking to Ky and Rex's parents. "Luna Harris?" He asks. I nod.

"Mhm."

"I understand that you live alone via declaration of emancipation from a Judge..?"

"Judge Wills." I reply automatically, he smiles approvingly. He lets out a tiny sigh.

"How well do you know Rex Smith, the one attacked?" I felt my lip twitch.

"Not well.. I really hung out with Eli, Ky and Max if Inferna was there.." I say, my voice getting quieter as I continued. He inhaled deeply.

"Do you know where Inferna is?" I shook my head.

"I haven't heard from her in quite a bit.. Apparently stuff has been going on within the group-" I shrug. "I. I don't know though." I brought my arms close. He kneeled besides me, a hand on my shoulder. My eyes widen.

"We'll find them. All of them- that kid K.D. too." He says softly.

"Yeah..?"

"Yeah, kiddo. We will."

Smith's P.O.V

(him hearing people, ky who later leaves, him opening his eyes- confused and surprised seeing his parents)

"..Kari-... Rex…"

Mm.. Mom..?

"love.. Come back…."

Wh.. Come, back?

"....We… you… please…"

D..Dad.

"..Rex!... I…. you.. Your….accept…Come back… us.."

C l i - c h i n k

"Keyah- keyah!" I lurch forward, immediately covering my mouth. Fuck- 

Ouch-

"Rex! Rex my da- my boy- Rex!" 

"Ge- keyah!" Get off of me! I pushed my arms away from me. "Keyah!"

"Nurse! Nurse!" My hands went to my ears. Fuckshit-

"Sto-"

"How are you? Do you remember-"

"Stop ta- keyah!" I pressed my hands against my ears. Stop, stop talking! Fucking stop! Why are you so loud?! Stop stop stop! I felt my legs pull up to my chest. A strange voice spoke-  the noises calmed down.

"Rex- shshshsh.. Rex, you're okay now." That voice said. I peeked open an eye, hissing at the bright light. "It's okay- take your time. You don't have to open your eyes just yet.."

"My-" The dryness of my throat hit me. "Wa.. Water." It only took a few seconds before I had water. I chugged it. It and another glass.

Where did that glas come from…?

"Remind me of your name." The voice said.

"Re.. Rex.. Rex Anderson Smith." I responded. 

"Okay, that's good. Thank you for telling me that Rex." I felt myself nod. I couldn't help but nod again. And again. I chuckled a little. It felt cool. "..ex.. Rex." My head jerked up. My eyes opened. I hissed again. 

I shielded my eyes, adjusting them to the light. "Wh.. Yes?" I asked.

"Rex, do you know why you're here?" I rose a brow, bringing down my hand.

"What do you mean-" I paused, staring at the source of the voice. She was a nurse.

A nurse. Why is there a nurse? I looked around, seeing my parents. "Wh- why- where, why am I here?"
