Going Our Extra Miles

"Lizzie, hurry up!" Bella called out, getting impatient. Lizzie hurriedly, slipped her shoes on and grabbed her map.

"Alright! Let's do this!" Lizzie exclaimed, excitedly jumping around in Bella's living room. Bella giggled at Lizzie's silly gestures and she opened the car doors. They both walked outside, rolling their bags behind them. "All aboard the Lizzie Express!" Lizzie declared, putting her hands on the wheel.

"Yeah, take that into the backseat, cause I'm the captain of this ship." Bella implied. Lizzie rolled her eyes and went into the back.

"I can't wait to go to Manhattan! Even if it's days away from San Francisco." Lizzie sighed.

"You're the one who suggested we drive in the first place. Don't tell me you're backing out now. We've been planning this for years." Bella argued. Lizzie rolled her eyes and took out the GPS.

"Don't worry, we're doing this anyways. Cause we never back out, right B?" Lizzie exclaimed, preparing a high five. Bella nodded and returned Lizzie's high five.

"Okay, fasten your seatbelt cause here we go!" Bella shouted, hitting her foot on the gas pedal. "I hope I don't regret this..." Bella thought, as she began hitting the highway. She looked at Lizzie in the back and smiled. "Yeah, I won't regret this." Bella sighed, focusing her attention onto the road.

6 Hours Later...

"Why did we do this!" Lizzie groaned, slouching in the backseat. They had been parked in the McDonald's drive thru, for a good 30 minutes. "This is what we spent years getting ready for?!" Lizzie complained, fanning herself from the heat. Bella was hunched over the wheel and sweat was dripping all over her body.

"Do we still want to do this?" she asked, huffing in between words. Lizzie hesitated before sitting up.

"YES! We have to!" Lizzie declared, full of determination. Lizzie jumped into the front seats. "I'll drive for the next 6 hours then we switch out. We have to do this, we've always wanted to this. We're Bella and Lizzie and we never give up. Besides, I didn't put $500 aside for this trip only for us to turn back." Lizzie said, assertively. Bella glared at Lizzie, who was determined to get to Manhattan, and she eventually gave in.

"We can do it." Bella mumbled. "Yeah, let's do this!" Bella said, her veins suddenly coursing with motivation.

"Let's get out of this drive thru!" Lizzie mentioned, quickly backing out and getting back onto the highway. Bella and Lizzie told jokes and stopped multiple times for bathroom breaks and snacks. Eventually, they saw the WELCOME TO NEW YORK sign on the side of the road. "BELLA WE MADE IT!" Lizzie screeched, at the top of her lungs.

They finally arrived at their destination. Bella and Lizzie got out of the car and let the crisp air hit their faces.

"We did it!" Lizzie exclaimed.

"Lizzie, we did it!" Bella repeated, giving Lizzie a hug. Bella and Lizzie took in the scenery, one that they would never forget.
