You wake up several minutes before you knew your alarm would. You are way too excited to get ready for the day, and you know exactly why.
Lack of sleep didn't drain you energy, as you rushed through your preparations in your cell. You flattened the wrinkles in your uniform and couldn't stomach the light breakfast prepared for you. You knew you wouldn't be hungry anyway.
Stepping off your doorstep was only the first accomplishment you knew you'd succeed in today. Because today was special. Today was the day you've waited for all year. Today was your first training day at a new establishment.
You adjust your new uniform and pick up your bag. You packed light, for you knew you'd have to hold onto it for the duration of your stay at that location. Your mother, though reluctant to let you go, has wished you the best of luck in your new occupation. She's even given you the basics for your training. You bade her farewell and get into the transportation they've put out for their agents.
Nervously, you step onto the vehicle. The driver closes the door, and you find a seat. You scan the area and see all different types of agents. You see two very beautiful and shapely female agents at the back. They must be field agents. Several male agents are arguing up in front about numbers. They must be impressive in the lab trainings. You don't know most of your colleagues yet, but you know you'd get to love them. Many senior officers have said so, and you see their groups hanging around outside your establishment. Hopefully, you'd find a group where you would fit in.
It's only been ten minutes, and some agents are acting very unwisely in their seats. You'd stand up to say something, but they're much older and brash. You'd rather not. But you see someone go.
A small agent holding a book walks up to these agents. They laugh at her and wave her away.
"You shouldn't do that."
"Get lost."
"You. Shouldn't. Do. That."
The biggest one goes up to her and smacks her across her face. All the other noise in the vehicle died down. Everyone stared at them, wondering what would happen next.
The small agent touched her face, then looked right back at them.
"You shouldn't do that either."
The bigger agent stops. Her smile spreads across her face and laughs. All her friends laugh too.
"Listen up, little girl. This place is no place for anyone like you."
She scrunches up her face and sits down. Surprisingly, so did the other agents. They roll their eyes but sit stiller, and more proper. Your sister did say that this whole experience was going to be a whole rollercoaster, and you've already hit the first bump.
A few minutes later and you're in front of the building where it would all happen. You've seen this building all the time, and now you were assigned to it. If only someone could wipe the smile off your face. You're giving it away. Snap back, Agent.
Walking through these halls, you sneak peaks at the wonders you haven't seen before. Everything is so big and important. You feel like you're being too childish, so you hold your head higher and adjust your dress once more. Gripping your new communication device in your pocket, you remember that this is only the start of your journey in this magnificent establishment.
Seeing numerous photos of this establishment's accomplishments just makes you even happier to be here. Keep calm. You see your reflection in the shiny glass windows and fix your hair. You'll be training with other agents; you don't want them to think you're a slob. You see the group of agents from the vehicle a while ago. You go the other way.
Look. They even have a gym here. You recognize older agents that you've seen around your house, usually conversing with your older sister. She's been an agent assigned to this very room you were standing in. You hope you could follow in her footsteps and go up to the higher levels with glittering honors.
You decide to take a break. You're too early anyway, so you go to the washroom to freshen up. Your sister has given you advice on how to survive the rough training. It's a good idea to list them down in your head. Good job, Agent, you're surviving pretty good so far.
She said that most agents were nice enough, but some really wanted to be on top of the food chain. You don't know what that means, but you're assuming they weren't nice to be with. She said that you should skip some training classes for fun, but you're not sure about that either. She also said to stay away from strange substances. Eyeing the smoke coming from one of the stalls, you're guessing you should stay away from that.
You check the time. You're supposed to meet Ms. Goodman in exactly 5 minutes, but you're lost. Don't panic, Agent. See that older agent over there? She appears to be on her communications device, but you need help. Go on. Ask for her help.
See? She does know how to get to Ms. Goodman! She partners you with an agent of your age, and assigns him to take you to your supervisor. Thank you, Agent Kyle. You shall meet him again, maybe in one of your joint assignments.
You check the time. Perfect. As intended, you arrived fashionably late. Your supervisor isn't pleased with this, but you knew she'd write it off. She directs you to Ms. Goodman's room.
You enter and see a whole room of new agents, just like you. Your stomach fills up with butterflies, but that's okay. Their nervousness is felt throughout the room and makes you feel better about yourself. You take a seat next to a male agent. His name tag says Aiden. Other people are whispering and talking amongst themselves. You look around and realize you don't know anyone here. Oh, right. This isn't your previous agency.
Aiden smiles at you and waves. You wave back and smile, thankful that someone has noticed you.
You hear a bell ring. Everyone sits up straight. The door opens, and your trainer, Ms. Goodman walks in. The air in the room stills.
She's wearing those special frames on her eyes that help you see better. She looks intimidating, but once she reaches her desk, she pulls out a writing device for the large board up front.
Ms. Goodman speaks.
"Hello, class. My name is Ms. Goodman, your First Grade Homeroom teacher. Welcome to your first day of at Northville Elementary school."

Hi Franxine, I was assigned your story in the Critique Circle, so here it goes: I loved the progression of the story. I was actually hoping he was in some uber cool school of special 'Kingsman' kind of spy agents. But overall it's a nice short story. Would make a nice YA novel.
