“Drop it… I have no problem pulling the trigger. Now, drop the purse.”
“Okay, okay. Take what you want but I don’t have a lot of money.”
“Yeah, we know.”
“…Then why are you robbing me?”
“This isn’t a robbery.”
“What?”
“Let’s go. Start walking. Move!”
“Okay, okay I’m going.”
“Walk out of the garage, if you scream or say one word your brains will cover this driveway.”
“I w-won’t.”
“Walk to the van. Slowly!”
“Come on lady. Do as he says.”
“I got this Ronny, just get back in the van.”
“Whatever you say boss.”
“Let’s go girl, hop up in the back.”
“A-alright.”
“Ronny, get me the blindfold. It’s in the glovebox.”
“On it!... Here ya’ go boss.”
“Now, hope I didn’t tie that too tight for you. We got a long drive ahead of us.”
“Please, please what d-do you want with me? I haven’t done anything I swear.”
“Mhm, whatever you say girl.”
“No! you have the wrong-”
“I said shut up!”
“Boss… Did you kill her?”
“No! You stupid idiot. I just knocked her out. She was making too much noise for my liking. The whole neighborhood was about to wake up. Now, start the van let’s get moving.”
“Okay!”
“Take exit 3, were going to go along the coast. Too many cops up in the backroads right now just waiting to pull over people speeding.”
“Sure thing, boss… Hey boss, can I ask ya’ somethin’?”
“Yeah, what? Spit it out. I know it hurts your brain to think.”
“Um well uh, don’t you think you shouldn’t be using my name like that in front of her?”
“Wow, now that might have actually been the most intelligent thing you’ve ever said. Listen dummy, she’s out cold back there. She’s got a blindfold on, tape across her mouth, and she hasn’t seen our faces. Look, it doesn’t even matter. She’s not going to be alive much longer anyway.”
“Okay, uh yeah that makes sense, boss.”
“I know it does.”
“So, um… how much we getting paid again?”
“Well, you’re getting paid whatever I decide to give you. I am getting paid three hundred large by the old bastard.”
“What?! Boss, that’s a lot of cash! That the most you ever got paid for sure.”
“That’s because my client is in deep shit, Ronny. The more desperate the client is, the more they’re willing to pay. Would you rather lose millions of dollars in a divorce, or pay a few hundred thousand to get rid of your problem forever?”
“Umm, I uh…”
“Shut up, no need for your head to explode. Just worry about driving. Not too slow, not too fast, keep it cool.”
“Yes, boss.”
“So apparently our new friend back there had finally had enough of the old man’s shit. Being his mistress and all. Once she realized he couldn’t be the man she wanted him to be, she decided to try to go for a man a little closer to her age. When the old man found out about that, he nearly beat the sorry fella she was seeing half to death. Now she’s out for revenge. She was getting ready to tell the old man’s wife all of it.”
“So that’s why he hired us to whack her?”
“Now you’re getting it. She had a note written and everything. That’s what was in her purse I told her to drop. I got it right here in my jacket. We’ll get rid of it after we get rid of the body.”
“Where exactly are we taking her, boss?”
“You remember that cabin off of Redburn Road?”
“Oh no boss… The place where you accidentally killed that old lady?”
“Yep.”
“Why there?”
“She lived alone, and the place is empty. Don’t think anyone even came looking for her after we robbed the joint. Besides I left some of her jewelry there when we hightailed it out after you freaked on me for killing her.”
“Can we make it quick this time? I don’t feel good killin’ a lady again, boss.”
“Shut up. You’ll do what I tell you to do or else you won’t see a cent from me ever again. Ya’ get that?”
“…Yes, boss.”
“Okay take this next right. We’re getting close. I’m surprised she hasn’t woken up yet.”
“You sure you didn’t hit her too hard and kill her by accident?”
“Nah. I wouldn’t ruin my night before it began. Alright head up the driveway. Take it easy. The roads are still slick from the snowstorm.”
“I got it, boss.”
“Alright stop here. Come on let’s go. Meet around the side of the van and help me bring her inside.”
"The snow is getting into my boots, boss."
"Shut up, Ronny. Just slide open the door."
“I'm ready, boss.”
“Alright open it, Ronny.”
“What the? Boss, its locked.”
“What?! You stupid idiot! You must have hit the lock button stepping out!”
“I didn’t mean to! I’m sorry!”
“Shit! The passenger door is locked too.”
“Go check my side, boss.”
“Yeah, its locked too and the keys are right there in the ignition.”
“Uh, boss… It looks like she’s moving.”
“Excuse me?”
“She’s movin’, boss!”
“W-what? Where am I?”
“Shit Ronny, she’s awake. Hey girl come on out it’s ok.”
“What the? No! You’re the asshole that took me!”
“Don’t worry we ain’t gonna’ hurt ya’ miss.”
“Ronny shut up! Give me your gun.”
“…Um…”
“No… Tell me you’re joking.”
“I think I left it in the van, boss.”
“Fuck, she found it! She's coming out. Ronny run!”
“Stop or I’ll shoot!... That’s right… Turn around assholes. Who are you and what do you want with me?”
“Why don’t you put the gun down and we-”
“Shut up! Answer me!”
“Alright fine. My name is James and the guy to my left here is Ronny.”
“What do you want with me?!”
“Look if you want to blame someone, blame that old bastard that hired us to nab you.”
“…Richard?”
“Yes girl, now look. I have a solution that will benefit all of us here. Why don’t you promise not to tell the old man’s wife about the cheating and all that and get in the van and drive away. You have my word we won’t come after you.”
“Yeah, ma’am we p-promise!”
“Stop talking!... No, he will just send other goons after me… Move! Go inside the house!”
“Whatever you say, girl.”
“And keep your hands up!... Open the door! Is it locked?”
“No… no one lives here anymore.”
“Alright get inside!”
“Ma’am we’re real sorry. Like James said, w-we ain’t gonna’ bother ya’ anymore.”
“Shut up! Go inside!... What is this place? I thought you said no one lives here. Why is there a fire in the fireplace?”
“…Um…”
“Drop the gun… What are you doing in my house?”
“Sir, I’m so sorry, my name is Janet and these two kidnapped me. They brought me here and um…”
“Get away from them. Come behind me. I got my shotgun right on them. Now give me that pistol.”
“Here ya go.”
“Janet, I’m Charles. How about you call 911 before these two get any ideas. Phones on the dresser right there.”
“Of course.”
“Not a good week for me gentlemen. First, I came here to find my mother shot dead in cold blood and now, you three walk in here thinking you own the place.”
“Hey man we had nothing to do with your mother’s murder or the robbery.”
“Robbery?... I didn’t say anything about a robbery… Oh you assholes…Hey Janet!”
“Yeah?”
“How’s about we get our story straight for when the police show up and see two more dead bodies.”
“Sounds great Charles.”
