Adventure

Florence, Italy.

"AAAHHH!" some random lady yelled at me as she ran from the front door. Ugh, can't a cat just enjoy some weed around here? I stared at her, cigar in mouth, with a blank expression. "wHAt?" More, random yelling and running. I mean, I guess, once you think about it, it isnt THAT rare to see a green cat talk like Andy Samberg in Florence, is it?

Anyways, I was doing my annual scenic visit of the Duomo, not like I live on it, cough cough, and yet, somehow, every year I find something new. This year? My best friend and colleague.

I looked at where the lady had ran from. There I saw a orange/yellowish blob, standing over a body. I walked up to him, a strange fellow he was. He seemed to be around 3 feet tall, in a strange (as I saw with my excelntriffic eyesight, if I do say so myself) orange tuxedoish lab-coat that looked like it belonged to some one at least 5 sizes bigger than his (not that I think they make clothes for people that small...). And he bore a (fittingly sized) hat with a feather and a "El Gallo" loteria card.

He then poofed magicaly into the air, a bunch of blue and purple spores, which seemed to make anyone who breathed it in pass out. Thankfully, I don't have to breath, so I walked up to him.

He made a hissing noise, and once he realized I was, but a cat, he stopped and stared at me, as if that was his favorite thing to do. "Excuse me, could I ask why it is that you are unaliving people infront of my house, good sir?" He paused, as if processing what I had said, rubbed his hands back and forth, and proceeded to pull something out from his lab-coat.

It seemed to be an ancient artifact, one which I had taken the liking too, which I had seen before at the Uffizi Galleries museum down the street. It was an incense holder from the 15th century. He proffered it to me, but, since I am a cat, and don't have any hands, I politely declined it. He seemed offended by this. He then opened it up and threw a white powder at me. I instantly recognized it, "COCAINE?!" He jumped back, clearly startled and opened his mouth like he was speaking, but no sound came out.

"You know, I'm also a dealer so, there's nothing to hide." He seemed relived. He put the chalice back in his coat and pulled out a microphone-looking thing and fiddled with it for a while. It produced a loud "POP", and he tapped it multiple times and started speaking, "h-H-hELlO? c-caN yOU hEar Me?"

I nodded, "Yes, now, care to explain why you just killed my least favorite security guard?"

"no."

I inhaled, "Okay... um, will you at least introduce yourse-"

I was interupted by a sudden jolt from him, as he started walking around me bent down on the floor, walking in a circle.

"What are you doing?"

He shuddered a bit, as if listening to me hurt, then pulled out an oversized red book which definitely, definitely, did not fit in his lab coat. "Page 279," he mumbled. I flipped it to that page, probably one of the weirdest I've ever seen to date. It was written in some strange language, and on it there were a bunch of runes and circles, with strange symbols I'd never seen. I saw, on the right side (so, it was actually page 280), a circle with some runes around it and a star in the middle. He seemed to be drawing this out of chalks he summoned from the endless inner pockets of his coat, out on the floor around me. I, as always, was in the centre of it.

"So um, what is this?"

"Its a transportation spell," he hissed, casting a dark glance at me. I decided to shut up. Since I had nothing to do, I decided to look through the book even though I had the least idea what it said. I started to turn the page, but a shrieking noise stopped me, "DON'T TURN THE PAGE. DON'T EVER, EVER OPEN THAT BOOK OR TURN A PAGE WITHOUT ME VERBALLY ALLOWING YOU TO."

"Can I put it on the ground?"

"No, just give it."

I handed it over and he copied some spells onto the circle.

"A transportation spell you say?"

"Yes, you see," he got up from his cultish looking circle, and explained to me. "I'm.. sorta not from here. "I'm from a different land called Oclium. I'm sorta a big deal there, if I do say so myself, so I can't be long for long from there. I was traveling to a different land though, called Dimenxia." (Pronounced; "Di-ment-shi-a") "But, for some reason I ended up here, inside of the Duomo. In Dimenxia, there is a building that looks just like the Duomo. So I thought I had safely arrived there. It was only when, after I tried using a protection spell that only works in Demenxia failed and made a huge explosion, I realized I was utterly and completely lost. "Alas, It is now time for us to return."

He paused, then looked up at me, only, where his eyes had once been, there was now a lifeless, dark rift with little fires in them.

I don't think I had ever understood true fear until that moment.

A strange red and black wave of energy emanated from him that knocked me back and seemed to have activated the runes on the floor. He then started chanting some strange words, and started levitating up in the air.

I could see him more clearly now, he seemed a like a hybrid of a cat and an angel, or demon almost. His ears were tinted blue and purple, and I noticed the left one was pierced with a strange blue rock that seemed to be, mind my language but, what was... almost painting him. From that rock, a strange blue light came out and pointed straight at the middle of the circle, where there was a star in another circle. It then opened up a shining, swirly portal, which sucked me right in.

The last time, I thought, I would see Florence.
