Adventure Kids Teens & Young Adult

Daily.

People would walk by.

Run by and run up to.

Dooby and Dawby.

Every day.

Sometimes twice a day.

People would come from near and far, stay for one day, stay for one hour. Stay all day to watch the terrific twosome entertain the day away.

The Dooby annd Dawby act was would become the talk of the street and soon became the talk of the city and then the talk of the state. Out of state, too

Dooby and Dawby would stand next to one another on the same street corner from dusk until dawn. Juggling, miming, and mining for coins to be dropped into a funny little hat.

Dooby and Dawby would stand on their heads, too.

They were both quite amazing because they never, ever talked. Never uttered a word. Never uttered a sound. With their mouths, anyway. They communicated to the passersby by and with many of their antics. With the focused intent to make the passersby’s days brighten with a moment or more of levity and humor.

Smile.

😃

Dooby and Dawby had quite the following. Even local police and community officers stopped by their show and would laugh at the silliness . Dooby and Dawby were extra respectful and antic-ey when the police officers arrived. They stepped up their games of juggling, mimicking when the officers arrived. When they would see the officers coming, they would lift their mining hat off the ground and put it off to the side. In an effort to lighten the load on the minds of the officers Dooby and Dawby were well aware and keenly knew the hard jobs they were to do each time they clocked in at the police. station. They would not fathom asking for a mining of coins or anything.

Dooby and Dawby were dressed in colorful “onesies.” From head to toe. If you will. Their heads were both covered with a bright silly hat that was propped atop their heads and stuck straight up from the crown of their head and bolted out from their ears Their faces were painted in jovial colors of bold and bright. All the brightest colors of the crayon box wheel of elementary crayon box colors.

The overwhelming joy that radiated out of their twisting and turning and girating bodies were reasons why Dooby and Dawby were so popular. Add in their unbelievable juggling capabilities and the awe in the beautiful and colorful air that surrounded their hilarious act was obvious.

They would stand feet apart, and those juggling balls with circling and circumambulating finesse. Not once taking their eyes off the ball. Even as they passed it furiously from one to the other. The passersby simply watched in awe. Blink and one might miss it. Their precision was beyond compare.

Happiness personified in the voice of the voiceless Dooby and Dawby. Their bodies moved in precarious and various ways. The littlest children would run up to Dooby and Dawby on the street corner and the children would never be afraid. They approached Dooby and Dawby with reckless abandon of their fears and scares.

The little children giggled and roaringly laughed as they tried to mimic the intricate movements of Dooby and Dawby’s actions. While they attempted to mimick their movements, when they children could not replicate, they fell down on the ground and laughed at themselves and one another—all in good fun and faith. Although voicelessly interacting with the passersby and most of all the children, one could always see the beautiful joy in Dooby and Dawby’s eyes. Most importantly when the little children came to them.

One day, a shy child approached Dooby and Dawby and changed their show forever. The timid child slowly walked up to the street corner, both Dooby and Dawby noticed. This was a best day in the life of the Dooby and Dawby show.

Most of the time, little children ran up unabandonly to see the antics that await them from the street corner show. This child was, different. The child immediately understood the voiceless show. The juggling, the child followed with his eyes of precision. The child would then try to mimic their hand gestures, their foot placement, their body language. The particular child did not laugh, or become frustrated.

The child watch Dooby and Dawby intently with the focus of a laser. On this particular day, the other children noticed the quiet and one by one began to tone down their uproarious laughter. And joined in the pantomime to come.

Without missing a beat, Dooby and Dawby looked at one another, took notice of the little class of children standing before them. And sprang into action.

They began to move in slow motion. Undoubtedly with their usual precision and finesse. And each and every child stopped in their tracks and followed every movement as it was made. The adults and other passersby stood back and reveled in what was happening. The trust that was being founded on the voiceless ness and the little children.

The children clearly felt safe, on this street corner in the middle of a busy and hard-worn city. No one ran away. Not one felt scared. Dooby and Dawby were in charge. One parent whispered to her elder son to run to the police station and tell them to get down here ASAP. They would want to see this orchestration in real time, now time.

It really was a joy to behold. The elder son ran at once and within minutes many uniformed community service person became witness to trust in action.

Trust being borne is voiceless motion and actions. An adult passerby whispered to one of the officers. “Actions speak louder than words.” The officer was enamored by the children’s trust in these goofy and unassuming “clowns.”

Instead of shoo-ing people away, the show simply got bigger and bigger. Dooby and Dawby never took their eyes off of the children. They realized this moment, on this beautiful day, was just too big to squander.

This moment. It had nothing to do with fear, scare, lack of trust or for the mining for coins. During this day’s most important pantomime with the children, the mining hat had already been stepped on relentlessly.

Dooby and Dawby never wavered in their focus on the little children. This particular moment was much too important, even if and when it meant Dooby and Dawby may not eat today.
