High School Gay

Authors note- There is minor foul language and scenarios where homophobic activity/slurs are used. If you are uncomfortable with that please don't read the story and just click off. Please do not say anything derogatory to me using that language. I myself am part of the lgbtq+ community and it is for mere story purposes.

"Levi!" A voice behind me called. "Wha-" I found myself face-to-face with Jesus Christ of our high school. "We need a DJ for the dance. You down?" Flustered I backed away so out of stupidity I said "Oh! Since when is there a dance?" "The dance?" He said "In 2 weeks? The one everyone has been talking about?" "Oh so you need a DJ?" I asked not missing a chance to mess with him. "Yes!" He sounded expirated and annoyed "That's why I asked you!" "If it's 2 weeks before why don't you have one already?" I asked. "He quit!" Nikko practically yelled "Will you do it or not?!" "Sure, sure I'll do it" I said still a little confused why the Nikko was talking to me. "Thanks!" He said and grabbed my hands as I felt my face turn bright red. This wasn't right I'm used to Nikko bullying me and slamming me against the lockers. Was he bipolar?! Am I gay?! He let go of my hands and went on his way. The exact next day in the locker room he and his group of friends took my clothes from the bench while I was in the shower. "Give them back!" I screamed at them. "Make us...fag" one of them said back. I climbed out of the shower with my towel wrapped around my body like females usually have. It's something I've always done and I guess in this situation it won't work in my favor. Nikko looked at me like I was crazy but kept up his act. "Look he really is a girl" he laughed as I was on the brink of tears. I jumped up and grabbed the clothes out of his hand. "Leave me alone!" I screamed and kicked Nikko in his uh "no, no, square". Our next interaction wasn't until I was "studying" top charts and recently played songs to make the playlist for the dance. He noticed I was in the study hall and slumped in the desk next to me. I turn bright red wondering what he was about to say to me. He probably was going to beat me up or something. Prepared for the worst I closed my eyes and then he said" I wanted to apologize for last week." Was he joking?! Stuttering I barely managed to say "Oh! Okay...you're good." The air was very tense we were both super, super, SUPER uncomfortable. "So," he broke the silence "What are you doing?" "I-Im just working on music. F-For the dance." "Oh cool!" He said leaning closer to me. I turned bright red and I think he noticed. He looked at me pretending to examine me and said "You're acting a bit different." Stupidly I blurted out "You too!" He looked at me confused for a second and then asked "Do you REALLY think I'm all that?" "Y-Yeah" I stammered confused. "I'm flattered" He said preforming a power stance on the bar of his desk just then a girl wearing a cheerleaders outfit walked into the study hall. She noticed Nikko and said "What are you doing with... him?" "Uh I was seeing the music Levi was planning for the dance." "Oh" she started to blush "Speaking of the dance do you have a date?" We both turned red and prayed this wasn't going where we thought it was. "No..." Nikko trailed. "Goodie!" She clapped her hands a little "Do you want to go with me?!" I. Wanted. To. Barf. "Nah" he said "I'm going alone. Gotta keep up my playboy vibe ya know?" "Oh." the girl look like she was about to cry "Okay." Then she just ran off to a party of girls who tried to comfort her. I guess I was staring at little girl because Nikko asked me "Are you gonna one of them out?" "M-Me no! No date!" He started laughing at me and said "Okay okay! Jeez but so you wanna hang out? Honestly appalled by his question I stammered "Uh-uh sure?" "Good!" He said "My house day before the dance." It made me really happy that he wanted to see me but we didn't see each other until then. I walked to his house in the pouring rain hoping he sincerely wanted to hang out. I finally got to his house and knocked on his door. I heard yelling from inside "This is the boy I like! Please act cool!" I recognized Nikkos voice and the door swung open. "Hey Le- OH MY GOD ITS RAINING?!" He shoved me inside and grabbed a towe. He wrapped it around me and led me up the stairs. We sat in his room for about 2 hours and just talked well, we laughed for the most part. His mom called us down for dinner and as soon as we got to the table she asked Nikko "So?!?" Nikko shot her a look and asked me "Do you mind eating here?" "No not at all" I said and Nikko pulled out a chair for me. The aromas smelled amazing from the kitchen and Nikkos brothers came to join us for dinner. The dinner was awesome and consisted of delicious food, hilarious facts being exposed, and lots of laughs. When it came time for me to leave I really didn't want to. Me and Nikko we're standing on his front porch, staring at each other awkwardly. "Can I hug you?" Nikko asked turning red. With me following I said "Yes." I was still in his arms when he said "I'm truly sorry for how I act. It's not right." "It's fine" I said bright pink "You're fine." Nikko said nearly deadpan. I just stared at him and my face was the exact equivalent to a tomato. After that we both bursted into laughter. "See you tomorrow?" I asked. "Yep!" Nikko responded. The night of the dance was awesome. Nobody complained about the music I played and people were having fun. Nikko smiled at me and pointed to the bathroom. Assuming he wanted to meet in there I asked the backup cover and ran that way. "Hey!" I said walking in "Hey!" he responded "I have a gift for you." He pulled out a tailored black suit from a drawstring and said "Here your black hoodie isn't going to look very good on dance floor." Clueless I took the suit of his hands and unfolded it. "Go put it on!" Nikko said signaling towards the stall. I came out fully dressed and prayed I wasn't as pink as I felt. "You look awesome." He said "May I have a dance?" This was a lucid dream I swear he wanted to dance with me?! I stammered "Y-yes" smiling hugely. "Thank you" He said and led me out of the bathroom onto the dance floor. "I can feel people staring at us" I told him barely whispering. "It's cause we look so good" he laughed. He could tell I was nervous and then he did the unimaginable like this wasn't unimaginable enough. He bent down since I was a good chunk shorter than him and kissed me.

Second author's note this is a personal question I have so people who made it this far please answer if you know. Thank you by the way for reading!

Do you capitalize the text in quotation marks even if it's in the middle of a sentence?

Example: He walked towards me and said "Hey!"
