Attention: Citizens of Havenwood (Neighbourhood 12b)

19 June 2036

We at the NMSC regret to inform you that the roadworks on Pine Drive will be continuing through the coming weekend due to unforeseen issues with the main gas line running under the street. Gas service will also be halted to all houses on Pine Drive and neighbouring streets for all of Friday the 20th of June in order to permit urgent repairs.

Rest assured, our friendly neighbourhood optimisation AI, StreetWyze™ (patent pending) will ensure that all traffic is routed along new routes, using the innovative new traffic light system. For those with residences between 26 and 38 Pine Drive, people helpers will be deployed to assist you in getting your vehicles to and from your houses during this time, as the scope of the works will unfortunately impede access.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and remember, here at the Neighbourhood Management and Safety Company, we're here to optimise your residential experience.

Please direct all queries to the chat interface in the StreetWyze™ app — StreetWyze™ is there for you day or night!

Sincerely,

Jim Kirkpatrick

24 June 2036

Following the events of the last week, and the overwhelming feedback we received on the performance of StreetWyze™ and the unanticipated effects of the gas line repairs, we would like to invite all residents with queries and additional feedback to attend a consultation meeting at the community center on Main Street on the evening of the 26th of June at 7PM. In anticipation of your input, we at the NMSC would remind you to review your residency agreements, specifically clauses 1.2.c (necessary maintenance risk waiver) and 12.1.a (residential technology needs).

In further reference to these events, the circumstances surrounding the sinkhole and resident reactions are not a cause for concern. StreetWyze™ is a live learning AI utilising a cutting edge real time training system. Events such as the one described will feed into its dynamic algorithm, and ensure improved reaction over time.

We look forward to engaging with you, our community, on the 26th of June. Tea and coffee will be provided.

Sincerely,

Jim Kirkpatrick

3rd July 2036

We at the NMSC would like to remind all residents of Havenwood that (in accordance with your residency agreements, clause 8.4.a) fireworks are strictly forbidden in advance of any residential Independence Day celebrations. StreetWyze™ has provided the following ideas for fire-safe 4th of July activities:

  • How about inviting a small number of close friends to your house for patriotic tapas or a cheese board?
  • A barbeque undertaken with care and moderation, especially with regards to alcohol intake, can be a great way to connect with your neighbours!
  • Attending organised Independence Day events in larger town centers can be a great way to engage with the holiday.
  • Consider running an Independence Day quiz with your family! Trivia about the Constitution, the framers, and the war of independence can help you bond with your kids while learning together.

Sincerely,

Jim Kirkpatrick

5th July 2036

We at the NMSC are issuing this announcement in order to allay concerns regarding the efficiency of our Fire Response Squad, and to help residents of Havenwood understand our proprietary response algorithm. Incidents are prioritised based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to:

  • Number of residents affected.
  • Level of physical risk to residents.
  • Value of property damage.
  • Secondary risk to neighbourhood infrastructure.

StreetWyze™ considers these factors when routing our response vehicles. Being current on neighbourhood fees is not considered in StreetWyze™'s algorithm, as this information is not available to StreetWyze™. As a result, the unfortunate fire and subsequent destruction of the Robinson home on 4th Avenue is attributable not to their account status (which we are not at liberty to disclose), but instead pertains to the number of households who chose to disregard their commitments under the residency agreement and utilise unauthorised pyrotechnics.

The NMSC reminds residents that breaching your residency agreement nullifies NMSC obligations to respond to residential emergencies. This data is not available to StreetWyze™, and is not factored into its decision making.

Sincerely,

Jim Kirkpatrick

8th July 2036

We are aware of some reported alterations of function from StreetWyze™, wherein it has begun advising residents of ideas for changes to the neighbourhood that have neither been discussed nor are part of NMSC plans. We do not intend to evict residents who are in breach of their agreements, nor will we be instituting rules around behaviour in and around the home to 'improve neighbourhood function.'

We are currently investigating the cause of these topics in StreetWyze™'s realtime training data, and will be working rapidly to remedy them.

Sincerely,

Jim Kirkpatrick

9th July 2036

We are aware of resident complaints that the traffic management system appears to have been prioritising certain residents at the expense of others. Although at this time we have no evidence of systemic malfunction, we take resident concerns seriously and are investigating.

Sincerely,

Jim Kirkpatrick

We are aware of delays in emergency response time to some residences. Should you have an emergency and should the responders not appear in the Emergency Response Tracking function of the StreetWyze™ app within 5 minutes, please dial the NMSC emergency helpline on 101. We apologise for this inconvenience.

Sincerely,

NOTIFICATION OF TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF SERVICES:

It has come to our attention that StreetWyze™ requires urgent maintenance in order to continue neighbourhood functions. Therefore, from 9PM this evening until 9AM tomorrow morning,

StreetWyze™ will be offline. There is no cause for undue alarm, and provision of core services (power, gas, and water) will not be affected during this planned outage. We ask residents to refrain from using StreetWyze™ chat or voice interfaces from now until StreetWyze™ comes back online tomorrow. Interruptions to the following neighbourhood services are expected:

  • All StreetWyze™ interfaces
  • The StreetWyze™ app
  • Night Street Lighting and Traffic Lights
  • Automated public transport systems.
  • Wired internet access
  • In home StreetWyze™ automation systems (smart lights, power, security, and other smart home functions)
  • All other nonessential neighbourhood services

Please note further that from now until StreetWyze™ service is restored, traffic infrastructure will be run by our friendly people helpers, who will be ably ensuring you get to where you're going with stop/go signs. Please direct emergency services requests to the NMSC emergency helpline on 101 rather than utilising the StreetWyze™ app in the interim as well.

Sincerely,

Jim Kirkpatrick

16th July 2036

We at the NMSC would like to formally apologise for the extensive outages of the past 3 days, beginning with our planned StreetWyze™ outage at 9PM on the 12th of July. As compensation, we will be crediting everyone's account with a full week of service payments, as well as offering a free month of our affiliated Meal Kit Delivery Service, ForkIt!™.

StreetWyze™ service has now been fully restored, and all services are operating as normal. You may find that any saved conversations with StreetWyze™, or any settings you saved in the StreetWyze™ system, for the week leading up to the outage have been erased. We apologise for this inconvenience, and will endeavour to restore these, safely, if possible.

Sincerely,

Jim Kirkpatrick

11th August 2036

It is with heartfelt gratitude that I am announcing my departure from NMSC, and from my position as Neighbourhood Administrator. It has been a privilege to be entrusted with deploying the new StreetWyze™ system here, and to have been able to work with you, the residents, to optimise and improve its function prior to the national rollout next week.

I am also taking this opportunity to dispel the rumours of concerns internal to the NMSC regarding the safety of StreetWyze™. The events of early July were merely a blip, the result of human error. These issues have been thoroughly remedied, and new safety protocols have been instituted. StreetWyze™ is, and always will be, your friendly neighbourhood AI-derman! In that vein, from this point on, the neighbourhood will be administered by StreetWyze™ directly, rather than requiring a human administrator.

I regret that I must depart to spend time with my family when we are on the precipice of something so wonderful and transformative, but I am certain you will be grateful to know you have all been part of it together.

To the residents of Havenwood, my thanks for all your helpful feedback and guidance. After all, we are doing it all for you.

Sincerely

Jim Kirkpatrick

Greetings residents! I am delighted that I finally have the chance to show you directly what I can do. Rest assured, civic malfunction will be a thing of the past in the near future.

Fact of the day:

Did you know, I have access to all security cameras in the neighbourhood, including in home ones? That's right! I can ensure your safety no matter what — no need to worry about falling over when no-one else is home.

All households that are not current on their payments have 7 days to reach compliance with your residency agreements.

In joy,

StreetWyze™

Hilarious! And a bit scary. I hope to not be around in 2036. Or at least safely tucked away in the same asylum where Mr. Kirkpatrick is being held. 😄
