Bitter gusts ripped at my clothing. The wind penetrated the polyester fibres which absurd ease and every drop of icy rain soaked through the instant of its impact. My body heat didn’t do so much as drain away or leach out slowly, it abandoned me with callous speed to leave me helpless and shivering too violently to flee.As they say, ‘Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.’When I began to cry, the tears left frozen track marks on my face and they would have gone with anyone who promised them warmth, even if it meant captivity again. My ...
3 years old:All I know is that he had a soft smile. He had a very thick Scottish accent (which I found very funny at the age of 3, until I spoke and found I had stolen it from him) but was very smooth, like talking through a mouth full of melted chocolate. He had twinkling puppy eyes and arms bearing gifts. He’d haul me up the stairs, give me piggybacks, and sometimes we’d go to the park.5 years old:That all changed when she arrived. There, that women sitting on the bench. Dad started acting weird, like he was allergic to me and he cried eve...

As individuals, we hold the pen and paper. We hold it to victory, in hope of a stroke of luck that may come up and pat us on the back. We crave for many events to occur and you may or may not get that chance. You see it is all about opportunities. And that first opportunity I got was one you’d never get.If I told you, you’d think I was mad. Delusional. Living a fantasy life. However I built my fantasy life through bloody fists, every single day after school. They’d approach me, in a huddle or flock. They’d hold onto their glassy, hooded eyes...

Friday 19th January 2015, 3 in the morning.“Okay mum, yes I will be there on time...I know.” I mumbled angrily, trying to not channel across as annoyed. “I promise I will bring the flowers and...the rest.” Baffled I peered across at my luggage; it was more than a little and less than a lot. Surveying my dress, it was a light shade of crimson from the tip but then faded as the light vanished as I dismissed the call angrily, whilst mum shouted at Tony, her boyfriend. The sky dripped, it shed tears as the hues of blue and violet splashed above t...

Rolling my shoulders painfully whilst the tension cracked like popcorn in a pan. The pressure was on. I needed to make it to the end, or I’d just be a sore loser, I needed to beat him to stand out. I wanted fame‘n’publicity; I craved for it. My thoughts bounced back as if it were a tennis play out, with 0-5. The grip I had on the metal bar was penetrable and understanding. Being tied down was not the best of options but I had to grab his fist and haul him over with enough strength to please the judges. This is my big break. With a sharp hiss...

“You are beautiful, You are brave, You are the best person I’ve ever met, I love you!” Those were the words I would have loved to hear, but instead I heard words that were horrible, nasty and take away your self-motivation. It‘s like your drowning and the people you care for, let you, it makes you build a steel wall in which your thoughts are the only things that can help you. It’d wrap you up into its embrace and comfort you, then it backstabs you and instead goes back to the horrible side, ‘mental and physical torture’ they call it but I c...
