It was the third day since I arrived home from university, the first time I've been home in years. It was good to be home and away from the endless amount of work for my courses. And, I thought it would be like old times--hanging out with my friends for the few weeks that I am home before I finished the rest of my term. Well, I was wrong since life doesn't stop since I finally came home. I texted everyone I know to hang out, but they were either busy, out of town or at work. After hours of going through an embarrassing amount of videos and p...

I wake up to the sun shining on my face. It's unusual since I usually stay in bed until the very last minute before getting ready for work. I don't think I've ever woken before my alarm before, and it's nice not feeling so rushed. It is almost relaxing that I can lie in my comfy, cozy bed for a bit longer before my alarm goes off. A memory of a younger myself pops up into my head. When I was a kid, my mom would walk into my room several times each morning to get me up for school. The frustration in her voice as she is trying to stir me...

We exited out the car, and flashing lights blinded us. People were shouting at us, trying to gain any new information from us. This was our first public appearance, and the press was going absolutely insane. Our "team", as they call themselves, surrounded us and ushered us through the crowd. I could hear that people were shouting, but there was so much going on that I couldn't make out a single word. I couldn't find the sanity within the chaos We finally entered the news station, and it was like a breath of relief. Even though people were ev...

"Whoever said it was a good idea to come here should no longer have a say on family vacations", I said as I sat on the sofa near the fireplace. Frozen. Probably not literally frozen but I felt like it. I never felt so cold in my entire life. I would have checked my mobile to see how cold it was outside, but there was no phone service or internet. Of course. Of course, they would take me somewhere that didn't have mobile service. "Mum and I thought it would be a good idea to get away from the city. Away from the drama of everything for Chris...

‘Did you always know that you were going to be famous?’ ‘Well, I would say that it was my calling. When I was young, I realised that this was my purpose in life and I could truly make a difference.’ ‘Wow, that’s beautiful. What was the moment that you realised that this was your calling, that this is what you would dedicate your life to?’ ‘That’s a good question…hmm, I guess there wasn’t a moment that stands out for me. There isn’t a moment that my life flipped on its head. I think there was little moments that gradually led to here. You ...
Ever since I was little, I was told to act a certain way. I've been told what to do my entire life, what to say, how to act— basically, how to live. 'Alicia, don't talk too loud since people don't want to hear you. It's rude'. I wish I had the courage to say, 'how can you think that it's ok to say that to me, to minimise me into someone I don't want to be. Someone who doesn't like themselves. Someone afraid'. But I didn't say anything. 'Alicia, when people ask how you are, they don't care. Just say you are fine, don't tel...
