The vividly bright flowering fields sprawled out as far as the eye could see, meeting the far distant shoreline of the Ketren river as it wove throughout the lush bushland of the national park bringing with it the icy waters of the newly melted snow from the mountains. The fact that she was leaving just as Summer was beginning seemed a tad unfair, afterall...shouldn’t she be rewarded after suffering through another drawn out and intense winter? The potent summer sun was deliciously warm on her exposed skin as she lounged about on the porch...

The brilliantly coloured lorikeets chittered noisily as they swooped throughout the watercolour streaked sky. Inhaling deeply she allowed herself to pause for a moment and take in the view. After almost 6 hours of driving in near torrential rain she had finally made it just as the skies cleared to display one of the most amazing sunsets she could remember. Nervously fidgeting with the split ends of her chlorine damaged hair Jane stared at the email in front of her, the central cause of the magnitude of conflicting emotions that were currently swirling around within her like a maelstrom. It was always hard to say goodbye, she didn’t have the sort of personality that could just easily shift from one thing to another. Her sister could and it was one of the things she admired about her, the way she could just cut things from her life that weren’t serving her...if Jane had that ability perhaps sh...

That bittersweet feeling of being lost in your thoughts during the peak hour train, hundreds of people surrounding you yet never feeling more alone. The almost heartbreaking feeling of scrolling through social media platforms, surrounded by information...surrounded by communication yet feeling almost painfully isolated.Despite a world where instant, digital communication is the norm, as a society they had never been more isolated. She saw this, the way her occupants bustled past one another...so physically close yet so emotionally far. What ...
